*BEFORE YOU SAY IT* Yes, this isn't what I promised to be my next video. Halfway through putting the next episode together, I discovered nearly half of the footage wasn't even added to my hard drive and thus also deleted from my SD cards, which would have resulted in a very dull tour. This particular episode will be postponed to late 2024. I apologize for the broken promises and disconnect lately. I am on the last weeks of getting my degree and haven't had as much time to post as I usually do. This problem should be resolved within the next few days, and hopefully for the rest of time:) *Zoo Miami on Zoo Tours Schedule* *2023:* 1. The Australian Center / 2. Florida: Mission Everglades *2024:* Amazon and Beyond (THREE PARTS) *2025:* Asia (TWO PARTS) *2026:* Africa (maybe) *Info not mentioned in the video:* 1. This is one of the few zoos in America that displays both Asian and African Elephants. Both have 1.5 acres of outdoor space, and each has access to an exhibit that's behind the one on the main path. 2. There is a swine-like species just past Warthog Crossing and Amazon & Beyond - the Chacoan peccary, who rotates with a Guanaco. Also, nearby is an island for spider monkeys. 3. Along with the Safari Cycles, you can rent out Swan Boats: pbs.twimg.com/media/Dltc7oAV4AUao_U?format=jpg&name=medium 4. Jaguars and eagles aren't the only things that can go over your head, those tubes shown in Amazon and Beyond are part of a multi-exhibit bat display. 5. There was a monorail that went nearly around the entire zoo. The track is still there but all loading stations have recently been destroyed. 6. Animals and other features that were off exhibit / closed: Show Amphitheater, Giant anteater, Tigers, Wings of Asia, Siamangs, River Otters, and Orangutans on day two. 7. On the current zoo map, Kudu are represented by a Markhor. 8. It took about 5 hours to get through the whole zoo. *Current Zoo Map:* assets.speakcdn.com/assets/2891/green_map-_true_north_med_res_for_website-01.jpg *Their Best Zoo Map:* happyfamilyblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Zoo_Miami_map.jpg

Very impressive. Always thought Miami had nice, spacious, naturalistic exhibits, not to mention all those rare species. I hope to go there someday. Can't wait to see your tours of it.

Zoo Miami is the zoo of my childhood. I've known it since it was Miami Metro Zoo. The monorail, the safari cycles, and the wax figures were peak happiness at the zoo. This zoo was a huge influence in my decision to pursue veterinary medicine. As I grew up, I appreciated it so much more as I learned how special the species represented at the zoo are and felt so lucky to have grown up with these creatures. Thank you for showing everyone this treasured place! RIP Berani 🐯

If you want a zoo that requires a real workout walking around, then I'd recommend going to the Toronto Zoo! The zoo has some really impressive sections, but is certainly a workout (over 25,000 steps on my Toronto Zoo day)

Nice intro! can't wait to see what you captured at one of my favorite zoos. Amazon and Beyond has always been one of my favorite exhibits, I used to spend many hours there just watching. In the near future once Epic universe opens I hope i can start traveling to zoos again. Until then I always look forward to experiencing them through your camera and narration.

Simply spiffing! Which exhibit at the Miami Zoo are you filming for your next episode? And try visiting both the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Woodland Park Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, & the Oakland Zoo sooner or later! Plus, Zak, here are 4 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend.... 1) What are the names of the 2 female Przewalski's Horses that moved in the San Francisco Zoo from the Brookfield Zoo? 2) What day did Pacha the new male Baird's Tapir arrive at the San Francisco Zoo, in honor of Goober? 3) How many orphaned cougar cubs have the Oakland Zoo rescued so far? 4) What year did the San Diego Zoo originally house Javan Bantengs? Wheeshing Jeholopterus!

Your videos are great. For your next Zoo Tours video, could you do the Oakland Zoo in Oakland, California?
@rachelperes-levy2151 Жыл бұрын
Ah yes! About time to go to my local zoo. A zoo that has lots of spaces and lots of rare animals that are getting phased out by the AZA. The Everglades exhibit is good and there was once a time when the Gray Foxes and Bobcats were on rotation (I was there during the opening days), and the Amazon Exhibit is amazing! It's insanely huge with three sub-sections in the exhibit, and there are a lot of cool things to see and discover there. It sucks that the monorail closed down since it was a good way to transverse the whole if you're short on time. (which is needed for a zoo that takes 5 hours to complete if you walk the whole way through) Also, as a Florida native, don't go in the summer! Between the insane heat and humidity and the possibility of rain, it's a nightmare if you get forced to find shelter in the Asia-Africa trail. Better to go during the winter when the temperature isn't that bad and there are low chances of rain. Also, good luck finding the hyena, for me it was impossible to find it on my zoo visits.

Looks amazing! Can’t wait to see what it has to offer. I just have one question while you say it’s in your top ten where does it rank Florida’s zoos and aquariums because I plan to go to Florida and see a zoo or aquarium while I’m there what do you say is the best out of all of them or what is the most worth it? Sorry for the long comment just wanted to ask have a great day!

I cant help but agree on how underrated the Australian sections were. In my opinion and also at least from my knowledge, North American zoos were lacking more Australian species along with theming and creativity focusing on their habitats on mostly African and/or sometimes Asian species for example. the closest thing i had ever seen for a Australian section in terms of theming and creativity was in the San Diego Safari park in California. It would mean so much for to Represent Oceana (Australia & New Zealand) more having more species from there with creative areas and theming and to acknowledge Nature's evolutionary lab in diversity and becoming more than just a cliche standard "Australian walkabout" section

What is better here or Tampa? Never been to either but having Gharials for sure that is a must see in Tampa, the rarest river monster of them all. Spoiled after being in Nashville, i hate the city that is crashville but the zoo is awesome and aquarium in Chattanooga is the best. Really seeing every video combined from various states makes me say seen it and then some.

Zoo Miami is by far the best traditional zoo in Florida. Tampa has some rarities and is easy to go through, but some parts are sorely outdated.

What route did you take through the zoo? I am visiting in January and am thinking of doing Amazon first, then Africa, then Asia, and saving Everglades for last.
@repdesrructor6153 Жыл бұрын
Yeah that is the best option, cause when you’re leaving you can have the chance to see the Florida panther that is not always too easy to see
@ZooTours Жыл бұрын
This isn't what I did, but it's what I recommend. 1. Mission Everglade's entrance path is about 15 feet into the main zoo. However, I did not see the panther until the end of my second day. The crocodile was above the tunnel at the end of my first day, but first thing in the morning, on day two. 2. Australia and swine 3. Amazon 4. Loop around Africa and Asia the opposite way that's presented in this video.
