ALL the 1.6L crankshafts have the sheared key way issue, even the long nose. However the long nose ones when sheared are salvageable with welding or a miata crankshaft saver kit. Also a sheared crankshaft DOES NOT mean the whole engine is toast. These are non interference engines and the crankshaft can be swapped out.

My gf is using her NA Miata -91 as a daily driver and it works beautifully with 14500 miles on the clock. Only thing that really worries me is the rust. Nothing big yet but you never know what hides underneath 30 year old body panels..

I spoke to a guy called Alex Perrucci on youtube who owns the 1990 model. He told me that only those first 1.6 NA's had the short nose crank, so the 92 should have a long nose.

Sorry for the late reply man! But yes, late 91 and up has the long nose crank. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!

Could you please do a video about cracked headers? I have a small exhaust leak on the Miata I just got and I don’t really know how serious that is yet
@spacecassette2108 Жыл бұрын
Not too serious just an annoying sound, you need new headers either get OEM, or aftermarket 4-2-1

Daily drove a 1990 1.6 (short nose) for years and beat on it every time I drove it. Thing never missed a beat. The whole short nose crank thing is not something I would personally worry about. If the car survived for 30 years, I don't see why it would all of a sudden crap itself now.

I'm looking to buy a miata right now, but thing is I didn't really grow up around cars, or rather my dad was away at work most my life so I never learned. So I know absolutely nothing about fixing cars. I'm willing and wanting to learn, im not just wanting things done for me all of the time, but can I just take my car to shops to get whatever I want done? Like lifting or lowering it, replacing anything. Even something like replacing speakers and stuff. Wiring can be a little complicated.
@AutoMotivate2 жыл бұрын
You can learn to do anything. My first car was a 76 MGB. It was also the first car I started to work on. I dove head first. Reluctantly a coworker magically was into MGBs aswell, which help me figure out the car a bit and my best friend was building a drift car. Without them, I may have never gotten into cars. However, that is exactly why I make videos here and on Builds United. To give a resource for folks like you to motivate people to save money and enjoy working on there own cars.

Hello! I recently saw a 12k asking worth it for a 1992 miata? I am planning to autocross but also a daily, so it comes with proper legitimate suspension (Ohlins DFV Coilovers) balanced and tuned at a race shop, door and roll bars, real momo seats, upgraded inter cooler, etc? It was auto crossed for 2 years(18-20) but very detailed service records and looked loved with a lot of attention put into it by professional shops, and personal work with other cars such as r33 and a rx7(imo he prob knows a thing or two). It also comes with the stock seats and other oem parts, thoughts?
