I took a color blind test and i have normal color vision!!!!! I guess it's my personal color perception and this particular color is leaning more to purple than blue 😂 not me fighting color blind accusations/j

1:42 i have heard that depending on what language someone grew up with, they may think of colors differently. for example the japanese word for blue can also be used to describe green and even some shades of purple i think? so what you might consider purple could be blue to someone who grew up with a different language than you :-)

I learned in my psychology class that different countries have different boundaries when it comes to color. To me thats blue but to someone from a different region/different language it might be a purple. Very interesting!

I mostly see it blue, but it interacts differently with other colors next to it. The closest to lilac I’ve seen it is when it’s next to red-orange/warm colors in contrast with yellow or cold colors. It’s pretty nonetheless.

hi verz:) i’ve loved your videos for quite sometime and started to use gouache last year because of you. The day you posted this video was a really bad day for me, i quit band camp. It was very mentally and physically exhausting and i’m even sick rn because of it. I’ve had no motivation really to start back up again but i really think this was my sign. Posted on the same day i discovered that i didn’t truly like marching and playing. Thank you for the video. I like number 3 the best, i think its tonally the strongest, it leads the eye to the face. Number 1 is my second choice! The color contrast is jarring and i love it

7:13 uh my like small analysis here, The 4 is really cool I like red backgrounds and I both like how the character blends with the plate and kind of see it as it's flaw. I'm leaning more to it not really working well by just confusing the viewer, it's not clear where you're supposed to look and what is the main focus. The 2, I also love the black plate and the contrast it creates with the character looks really cool too but I feel like there's too much of scattering. The colors start to crumble the really beautiful composition, the red has a similar value to that grey, the napkin is a very light color contrasting the plate and background which takes away focus of the main piece, and the black starts to feel like a black hole gathering too much attention from everything else. The 1, is really good because the all the main components separate a bit from the background and create a really nice contrast in color values(as well as giving an eerie feel). I absolutely love that just like in the 2, you used complementary colors right next to each other and also used it as line art. However here I feel that everything feels in the same distance and much more as if every individual element is just blended and attached to each other. The 3, is in my opinion the best one by how much it works in color values and with the composition. The background gives a pop to all the important elements, the white contrasting it and elevating the character as the central point. All the colors feel well balanced and giving you room to firstly focus your attention on the character and then slowly shifting to look at the rest of the art. The red plate also gives the image of being blood stained which I think is a great addition. Wow I did not expect to yap like an art teacher uh sorry about that, but I really love all the other choices as well they look really good.

to me that's a blue with a bit more of a warmer hue than like a skyblue, but it's not crossing into pruple just yet, periwinkle as someone else said, same for the yellow, it's like sunflower yellow, so a warm yellow also not yet orange to me! But I feel you, used to have these grape pruple skinny jeans when I was a tween and my mom would always call them blue and drove me mad :"D

For me the blue comes up as blue, but the squares on the side lean more to a purple or indigo, it also could be a mixture of the two, blurple HEHE

I have the opposite problem with paper color. I bought a nice sketchbook online, but when I got it I found out that the paper is warm-toned like it's too warm for me. I don't like how cool colors look on it, so I use it only for warm, earthy-colored sketches. I prefer my paper to be as white as possible

2:04 no one’s perception of colour is right or wrong, because that would imply there is one correct way to see colour. That of course is (while possible in theory) impossible in real life since we perceive colour through the L, M and S cone cells in our eyes, each corresponding to a different range of wavelength. And since each eye is a little different due to DNA variation and other circumstances (ex. environment and upbringing), we each see colour differently. It also depends on the lighting, so for example I see the colour pencil you used in more of a blue hue but the square on the right as a lavender. Also fun fact, purple is the hardest colour for our eyes to see and differentiate between its shades :)

The strawberry snack with the cute little animals on it says "The Power of Thinking" at the top with the brand Lotte and "Strawberry harvesting/picking" in red on the left. The little red and cream sticker says the brand and "Strawberry picking" again at the top and right under it says "What would you do?" and the cream part mentions a situation along the lines of "Your TV watching time is over" and the bottom red part repeats "What would you do?" I'm not native and still learning so please correct me if I'm wrong. Hope that helps! :)

It seems like it is cornflower blue. I can understand stand how it seems more purple leaning. A picture of a cornflower on Wikipedia looks pretty lilac to me as well. According to Wikipedia, the most valuable blue sapphires are called cornflower blue and a medium dark violet blue hue. So technically you are not wrong to say it is purple leaning.

It’s periwinkle which is a pale indigo blue with shades of purple. I say this because the blue on the left page at 2:23 with the drawing of Milk registers as blue to me but the smear on the right page on the character’s hair (what you end up using for your card to the left of the flower)registers as a more lilac color (so I can see why you see it that way). I know it’s the same color but it looks different to my brain in this exact shot. I think it might be the lighting or shadows but colors are never so simple. Me and my nephew at one point argue about a color with him saying it was light red and me saying it was pink magenta and well you can make a type of red from magenta and pink is a light red.

How do you make the oages not like press on eachother when you draw on the other side And yeah this inspired me to use more mixed media ( i literally dint use anything than my inly one magic pencil and doodle. about white pages - completely white and completely black are the strongest colors. white - brightest of all colors, black - the darkest of all colors. when you look at world around you there actually isn't anything completely white or black. even white things, aren't completely white, they have maybe some yellowish or bluish or any other color highlights. it happenes because of lighting, other things around white thing, shades etc.. that's why for example artists don't use clear black or white paint in their paintings. it's unnatural and weird looking. when someone use clear black or white in paintings it kinda feels chaotic or without harmony, because in this world nothing has completely clear colours. and you need to find this harmony in your art - what is the brightest color in your piece of art and what is the darkest, maybe shadows are bluish or maybe more like purple or maybe even green, but they aren't just black. and that's the problem with completely white pages - they are unnatural. they already brings to your art the brightest color, without any tint are just weird and brings to your art chaos and it's just disturbing. it's really hard to bring harmony then. that's why it's hard to draw on this, and btw this kind of white is actually tiring for the eyes. i don't know if what i wrote makes any sense, but i hope it does and i hope it helped, and i love your sketchbook btw!

for the white paper thing- i think i might suffer from that too??? i have a sketchbook that has off-white paper that i haven’t been using because its more textured for my liking since i doodle pretty small, and i’ve been using a different one with white paper and whenever i look at its blank pages my brain just stops working,,, and when i did use the off-white paper i was spewing art out like it was nothing!!

It is blue! Maybe you have some light case of color blind! Some people can't see some tones. It is blue plumbago. Purple is a color that happens when you mix blue and red and that tone has no red.
