I was surprised to see the dents in the front inner fenders, the rest of the car looks so great. Why weren't they fixed before paint was applied?

Its June 2018 just seeing this video great job. People wondering how much . Depending on the real condition of the car ( an expert can tell if it has hidden repairs ( up to a point , only after stripping the paint do you get the full true story.) condition. Rust and body work hidden bad repairs that need to be redone. How many times past owners ran their own wires .( should put a new harness in it anyway.) Body work and paint are the unknown cost. Its also where you have a good car or a great car. I mean mechanical parts and electric parts and interior and trim are "KNOWNS" you can look in a moss or victoria british catalog and add that up. Dont for get nothing comes with nuts bolts fastners nor clips to hold it so add that. Restoration is "LABOUR" intensive. A guy in his garage learning from youtube and forums with desire can do a crack up job. And do alot of the bull work once you do the muscle you may have the confidence to tackle the finish.Or farm that out to a pro shop.Collect the car and finish fitting the parts. I restored my first bug eye sprite when I was 16.To the same level you see this car here.I did every thing brake system rebuild to it apart to bare shell did body work and paint .Rebuilt the motor upgraded to a waffle box gearbox. Its the car that started my sports car journey .That was 46 years ago.I ran my own sports car restoration shop for 20 years. Now I just build my own cars currently building 2 Datsun 240Z cars.Hey its in your blood once you start. By the way EVERY BODY starts out wanting a driver. But you must take things apart repaint as you go eventualy you change your mind and start saying hey this is looking real good and you start wanting it nicer than a driver. These cars are OLD, they must be restored unless you find one that was "properly restored" not a quickie to sell it ( there are lots of those about still. The best advice in restoring a car. Is be sure you restore a car you have always lusted for and wanted. BECAUSE IT TAKES THE SAME AMOUNT OF LABOUR AND EXPENSE NO MATTER WHAT CAR IT IS. BUT you will love every step of the process if you always wanted a lotus Europa get one if you always wanted a bugeye sprite get that...if you love an Alfa Gt.... Buy the best example you can afford.Try and get as many original parts that belong on the car for example a Healey 100-4 has a unique folding windsheild frame its good to be sure all the parts are there and in fair to good condition. There are parts certain cars come with you have to be sure are on the car your buying. Get a buyers guide for what ever model sports car you love , from, classic motor books ,for 30dollars it will make you an expert on that, be loved, sports car Also you are REALLY wise and smart to join as many car clubs for that car you have always wanted to OWN. EVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE THE CAR YET.!!! WHY??? Because sports car guys always have at least three of the same model they love the cars as much as you do.But the WIFE wants space, wants a new living room set, wants it gone.BUT the husband enthusiast doesnt want to just sell it.He wants to pass it on to some one that LOVES the car as much as he does.So he can watch it get restored like he always wanted to but didn't. Curious about the approximate cost to restore a good running but below average cosmetically bug eye to nice drivers car? Is there a range for a good restoration?

I found myself waiting for Bill Murray to slip in a punch line. No offense intended rather just mentioning similarities my underworked brain thinks my overworked ears heard.
