The tench is the best-looking fish in the carp family for me. It looks so exotic and pretty Nice video 🙂

It's why i gave up fishing freshwater and opted for uglier but tastier sea quarry.Who would stick a hook in the beautiful tenche's lip with a clear conscience ?

love the pike on the left at 02:48, very sneaky fish :) - Sad to see the spot empty, it could be poaching, it could be that they moved on.... at 03:54 So you can see here the importance of having your bait just on the bottom and not lying like this as you miss the lift bite to strike the fish as it picks up the bait! You need to have the precise depth to achieve that, easy in the canal where its all the same

I have been a freshwater angler since 1955, when my Grandpa first took me , I was "hooked" in later years I only fished for big fish, specimens, and my all time favourite is the beautiful tench. I always treat them well, remove any parasites or snapped off hooks and use proper antiseptic on the lip where hooked and any wounds, mind I do that to all fish. I spent twenty years just fishing for Tench, and had some real beauties. But my methods are far from those here, that's why I was successful. Sorry but in truth you have a lot to learn if you really want to target Tench.

It’s good to look after the fish, I hate when a spot is ruined by bad people or polluted. You have really had a long time to master the tench. I got one on by chance when going for big bream and Rudd. It was quite an interesting experience I only had a small reel and cheap telescopic rod with I think 7lb line. I was just messing around not expecting that. The rod nearly broke but I got him into the net. Awesome fish, But now I’m hell bent on getting more😂 of course. I presume you use a float but what’s some good ways to present the bait? I’m thinking to plum the depth and just suspend the maggot a few inches off the bed with an anchor beneath. After watching this it seems like a good idea because of the angle they seem to eat at.
@jhgvyjbuighfgjh Жыл бұрын
to me the first one looks like it took your bait but managed to reject It and the hook? then later the tench saw the line and shot rather than brushed against it? whether its the line or the shot that made it sense danger who knows. interesting footage, thanks for sharing!

We see the eastern europeans killing them down our way cleaning out canals with nets 4 men teams with two nets working together so the fish have no chance and the Guards and Baliffs do nothing all they are interested in is catching the Irish who have no salmon license.

Those who actually need the message, sadly won't heed the message, as they're fishing for the pot and take anything home with scales on it, frum the smallest rudd to the muddiest bream.

Sadly I have had this on my local stretch of river, I have caught a 2lb 14oz roach, it was my best fish, it had Barbel, chub, roach, pike and some good eels, it's almost devoid of fish now, minnows and dace with small roach, they have put notices up asking that fish be returned, in many languages, as I was making my way to a spot to fish I met some people, big smiles, a Tesco bag, he stopped and told me the fishing was good and showed the fish in his bag, by the time anyone came they were long gone, I don't blame them totally, as back home they take fish for the pot, but they somehow don't understand we put them back, I get my licence checked, but somehow they avoid being caught their haul. I feel bad as no young boy will get his first big fish, they are all gone.
@skateboardingjesus40062 жыл бұрын
Do what I and many others do and tell them to put the frigging fish back. Shame and report them (literally take a photo of them). It's up to us anglers to help keep an eye on our waterways and the fish species in them. Inland fisheries and ecological conservation groups never had to deal with this problem to the extent It's being done now. It's up to us to act where they don't, whether they can't due to insufficient staff/resources, apathy, or just plain incompetence. Bad anglers with shitty fishing practices can either get on board with a respectful and environmentally aware approach to angling, or they'll be sown where to get off. If these greedy shits want to take anything away, they can make it everything they brought with them and preferably at least one piece of rubbish they found along the way.
@Taz66882 жыл бұрын
@@skateboardingjesus4006 I feel the same and did report them, as I said when they turned up the guys were long gone, the rest of them vanished as soon as the police turned up, probably worried it was immigration, If I grabbed hold of them I would have been arrested, the law would not protect me and it's not worth dying for, the Police and EA are a joke, best you can do without their support is to try and educate, but they still behave as if at home.

This reminds me of our old creek, used to be this giant catfish in this one deep part for years, used to throw in cut bluegill and watch him eat it since the water is super clear, like a pet to us, hes gone now due to more fishermen finding out about the creek, we miss that blue cat

The clarity if the water is likely the difference. Clearer water offers little cover. Most larger fish hunt from cover

Depends on the species. We have some invasive species over here that are "must kill", such as the Asian Carp, Mirror Carp, Snakehead, etc. There's one channel that I watch where after killing them he cuts them up and uses them for bait. Nothing wrong with that

@nobody72327 ай бұрын
Maybe the spot is now too blatant? Before, when the sediment was stirred up by fish, perhaps this reduce visibility.. The Tench looks happy on the edge of the spot, at the back... Often when I carp fish, when a spot has seen some pressure and the fish have "polished " it clean. The "seam" on the outside edge of the spot, where the clean area meets the dirty area, is more productive.... Great video. I never get bored of watching fish behavior.... Also, when there are a few more larger fish, like the first time you fished, there is more competition amongst them. When they are competing for the food items, they will feed with less caution..

Why is most European fishing targeted toward nonpredator fish especially in the carp/sucker family not trying to be offensive just curious
@africanfartingfrog2 жыл бұрын
This type of fish is prized as a sport fish in some parts of Europe, and as food in other parts of Europe. The problem is that a fish can be used for sport any number of times, but only once as food
