Fishing a TOWN CENTRE for the monster fish that live here - and catching a PB! I've been after this fish for a very long time, and it has finally happened! Winter lure fishing starts now, and I seem to have stumbled across the perfect fishing lure for the colder weather. Most of the perch fishing i've done has been in summer using things like paddle tail jigs, so this is completely new to me. What a huge success though!
If you enjoyed this perch fishing video please consider subscribing, it really helps me out! Drop a like too if you can and comment below, I really appreciate it! As always, thanks for watching and hopefully i'll see you here for the next one!
Lures:
Molix Stickflex (UV Junetreuse): www.predatortackle.co.uk/Soft...
Z-MAN ShroomZ NED RIG Loaded Heads - Green Pumpkin - 1/10oz 2.8g: www.predatortackle.co.uk/Load...
Remember you can also get 5% off anything on the Rigged and Ready website using code AFUK5 at checkout. Here I was using the Fish Rig 180 semi telescopic travel rod, RR1000 reel, unhooking mat, net and fluorocarbon. riggedandready.net/

Congratulations on that big catch! Well handled! I once caught a 2lb perch on a high bridge here in Sweden. That was the toughest thing to pull out. Dad helped me and we managed to get it out. It was like 15+ years ago. My dad still speaks about it 😊

In Australia we call them Red Fin, and they are classified an invasive species that can not be released when caught. They can grow upwards of ten pounds in some water ways and make good eating. Looked like you had a lot of fun George, that's what it's all about.
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 5 ай бұрын
I knew you had them over there but I didn’t know they needed to be killed! We have a similar rule with Zander, they’re supposed to be killed but no one does. Do people ignore the rules and put perch back? I didn’t know they got to 10lb that’s crazy!

I have never caught redfin in the Murray river anywhere near ten pounds, those big fellas were caught in irrigation drainage lakes. that were not easily accessed. The water that filled the lakes had been drawn from the Murray river transported via open cut channels to irrigate properties then drained in those lakes. I have also caught them to that size in major water reservoirs and compounds that were constructed to hold vast amounts of water for town and city domestic use.@@KZbinTookMyNickname.WhyNot

When fishing the canals aren't you able to use a weedless system like a Texas Rig where you get the worm please turn on the hook just like you did and get the end of it and kind of slide it onto the hook so that way it doesn't snag on everything in the canal

G'day mate . I live in Australia and am an avid lure fisherman . We have the redfin perch here as well but I love the Assie bass . I don't use jigheads , as they snag way too much in the places I fish . So I use an offset worm hook , and a small running ball siinker . Its basically snagless . Saves a lot of gear . 👍✔🎣

@@adventurefishinguk Happy days mate, i had 1lbs 9 oz perch which is my biggest so far. I had fished for 3 hours on the canal and got the bite at dusk. A womans dog peed on my bag, she was chasing it around me and i was fighting a tank of a perch, absolute chaos haha.

Hi George congrats. I was wondering is lure fishing good in the winter? I was planning to do some freshwater lure fishing this winter as well as some sea fishing in Devon, Cornwall etc. Also I am going to Lake District in late March next year. Is it worth bringing my rod there?

Lure fishing is great all year round mate! You just need to prepare and read around the techniques that are better in the colder months 👍

Wonder if its worth looking for Weedless jig heads to try n combat the snag issues. And Ive found when using softplastics on a jig head like those that they work or fish better on sumthing like a Palomar loop knot rather than the knot being right up on the hook eye.
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk 6 ай бұрын
Yeah weedless rigging could definitely help me lose a bit less tackle I’ll look into it 👍 I need to improve my knots too for sure, the rapala knot is great and does something similar
