Yeah... unfortunately not surprising. Love Dave's blustering. There are not going anywhere till the CG says they can. No matter what he says. They are in a security zone that they should have known about if they did any planning. My guess is they were aware and hoping they would not be caught.

Uhhh, no. I used to have a corner office at the top of one of these waterfront skyscrapers in the background. Coast Guard (with a .50 caliber machine gunner at the bow) and NYPD Marine patrol and keep an eye on that area like nobody's business. (Trump's helicopter and decoy helicopter and their accompanying Ospreys would often land right at that heliport in the background.) CG and NYPD had Heavy D and his team scoped out six ways from Sunday before they ever came near.

@ 4:00 - about five years ago I put a RCA 9dbi gain Yagi directional antenna ($38 on Amazon) right on the edge of the roof of my apartment and aimed it at 148° on the compass. Immediately got about 62 channels out of the Tampa Bay Florida broadcast fields! And the picture quality is better than I ever got from satellite or cable because they don't compress it is much as cable channels and satellite channels! I call it a win even though I hardly ever watch anything because I really don't watch TV very much lol. I have turned into a KZbin junkie instead!

I'm glad everyone gave the police and Coast Guard the respect they deserve. This is New York, where a lot of bad has happened. They are doing their job, which is tough. I was happy to see them, because you know now they are on the job, even if you don't see them. The dive was cool. I imagine there is a lot of things down there, but so much mud and silt, makes it almost impossible. There are boats down there, I know, probably cars too. Maybe they will find some cool things in the future.

Retired commercial diver here 🙋🏻‍♂️. Spent some years diving the Gulf Of Mexico for the oil industry. If y’all plan to go back, invest in a what us offshore guys like to call an “air lift” it’s basically an underwater vacuum the runs off air. Super simple and cheap to make one. It will pick up the light/fine sediment and expose the natural bottom. It would work perfect in that situation because all the sediment goes up the pipe, vents out the top and the current carry’s it away.

In deep silt, it's necessary to use a sounding rod. The variance of resistance is your indicator. I would suggest using a gig tip and possibly harpooning a bone under the silt.

East River Mud or would it be Merde mixed with PCB, Mercury, Silver Nitrate, Copper Arsenic, etc, etc. Probably more 5 gallon buckets (or their rusted out remains) with leg bones and on down set in concrete sticking out of them left to find too. The Society for Sturdy Shoes (a division of the Italian Society for the Preservation of Family) made those up and fitted select people with them who met the requirements but never really recommended you go swimming in them. Most never took them off for the rest of their lives and then some. ;> Make sure all your shots and inoculations are up to date before diving in there. Have plenty of Ammonium Chloride on hand to wash down your suit and diving gear with too which you probably should do before removing your gloves or helmet. Best!

The silt under the Kerch bridge across Russia/crimea was so deep, they had to drive the piles 60 meters, and some engineers say that even that might not be enough .. shallow river inlets like this are PRIME spots for silt and sand to deposit, hence why the shipping Shane’s need to be dredged out periodically.. as the rushing tide comes in, it pulls silt/sand from the ocean floor and makes its way up the inlet.. once slack tide hits, everything suspended in the water column drops

Serious underwater hard hat divers work on some wild stuff. We had to use divers in New Orleans in the Mississippi River in 140 feet of water with eight (8) knots of flow so that divers had to go down through a culvert type tube to get to the bottom and recover some concrete weights of well over 100 tons total. Those divers were great and the divers who recover stuff in the really deep oceans are really over the top on skills. Most likely the police and Coast Guard didn't until some person lodged a complaint.

If you guys want a fun mystery dive to do... look up the B-25 that crashed into the Monongahela River near Pittsburgh, PA... On January 31, 1956, a B-25 Bomber crash-landed into the Monongahela River, and the plane was never to be seen again. It was flying from Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada to Olmstead Air Force Base in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They were to pick up a cargo of airplane parts. What was to be a routine flight ended in death, disaster, and mystery. This gave birth to the legend of the Ghost Bomber.

Hey HeavyDSparks, I think a large issue is definitely navigating and being unaware of where you are on the bottom and in relation to the boat, I believe if you set up sectors and use fences to cut it off. You can do it one section at a time. If it won’t be faster, at least it will be more organized. Great video and it shows a really underrepresented and under appreciated industry.

In most major metropolitan areas, digital broadcast of local channels is still a thing. If you can't afford or don't want to pay for cable, you can get the major networks, PBS, etc for free with an antenna. Get outside of the Metro footprint and you are most likely out of luck.

Looks like the right way to go about this would perhaps be to mount a escavator grab on the boat, feeding a "gold" washing machine that's separating bones by weight if you get the idea. As for where these bones might be, taking many samples could save you some digging time.

Slack tide on the cape cod canal is the coolest and kinda Erie. It goes from crazy strong and moving real fast. To a dead stop and quiet. Then it’s starts moving the other direction and back up to speed.
