I was 10 when I heard the self titled debut album from Sabbath...even then, in 1970, I knew I was going to be a rocker for life...I eventually became an FM radio jock, and my favorite station to work at was a classic rock station...right in my wheelhouse, and for 30 years, I played rock and roll to the multitude of listeners who knew the music front to back, and new converts to classic rock, "wow you guys had great bands back then" was one of my favorite drops, from listeners...that's why I'm drawn to these reaction video's especially the rock I grew up with, just to vicariously re-enjoy watching someone else discovering "our" music...hey...Rock ON!!!

Blue Oyster Cult's original manager (Sandy Pearlman) was hired and helped bring DIO from RAINBOW to BS. Ronnie James Dio (RIP) one of the greatest to ever stand on a stage. After Ozzy left in the late 70s, Dio helped carry that band. But there were also other singers who added to the Sabbath legacy. We don't have anything like that anymore. In 1970 a movie cane out called Black Sabbath, that's where the band got their name. There is a self titled song from that year they made called Black Sabbath. In the song guitarist Tony Iommi uses the flatted fifth chord. Some people believe it's Satan's chord. It's hardly used in the music world. The story behind the song Black Sabbath as far as I know, was an event that happened to the bassist Geezer Butler, he was big into the Occult and one night he said that he saw a demonic presence in his bedroom that had red eyes. Ozzy's voice in the song really sells it. The song is worth a listen.

You should consider checking out Dio's last album with the Sabbath lineup. They couldn't be called Black Sabbath because of legal issues at the time, so they named the band Heaven & Hell, and they had one album, The Devil You Know. My favorite Dio-era Sabbath song is on this album. It's called Fear. The whole album is good, but that song just...Grrrr! First time I played it, the riff cracked the floor under my speakers, it was so heavy, and the fact that Dio put in this level of vocal performance a year before his death speaks volumes about his talent.
@callespringer9718 Жыл бұрын
I love Dios ambiguous and philosophical-sounding lyrics. As weird as they often seem, I am personally convinced that when he mentions "the dancer" twice (first "nobody bleeds for the dancer") and then later ("fool fool, you got to bleed for the dancer, look for the answer") what the idea is that once you start humanizing, caring about ("bleeding" for) generally de-humanized people (mere "dancers", probably referring to strippers and the like) that's when you ascend as a human being. In the long run, a ticket to heaven, so to speak. Do note it has nothing to do with various professions or whatever people think about that. It's only got to do with the moment a person is no longer considered a person in usual person-to-person interactions. In the 1980s when this was written, I guess exotic dancers were the most obvious pick. Today you have literally any given store clerk, or delivery folks, or people working warehouses etc. Which I suppose goes to show that everything they warned about in the past, with their dystopian fantasies have become true, and some more. Sigh.

One of the most iconic songs ever written. Dio took what made Black Sabbath so dark and heavy, and romanticized it and seduced an entire generation of metal heads. It would be safe to call this song a work of art.
