Art can actually be used for warfare. Modern art is an example. The CIA was involved in promoting Stockhausen in Germany because they knew the kind of distructive effect his music had on the culture. Same thing is happening today with "wokeness" in entertainment.

The line is actually a reference to Tarot, which was an interest of Dio's. The Dancer is the lowes card in the deck, so the references are to claiming empathy for all, and that we must take care of those less favoured, as there lies the true value and answer.

This is my explanation for the part “love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer” So imagine there is a theater filled with people, and there is a singular dancer on stage performing the whole show. The show is amazing and everyone is in awe. They all leave afterward and say how much they loved the performance and how they loved being entertained, while on the other hand the dancer is backstage taking off their bloody shoes, crying because they’re exhausted from performing the same thing night after night. Love for dance/performing arts is the answer to the dancers career, the dancers income, and the dancers way of living. But at the end of the day, the people in the audience only love what the dancer can provide for them and the dancer suffers all alone.
@helmsylvanian

I don't know what it means, but I don't think Dio was referring to a dancer in a literal sense. My instincts tell me that the "dancer" is in reference to the devil. I've heard of the devil being referenced as a dancer before. Perhaps it means that moral people wouldn't "bleed" or risk injury or die for the devil.

"Love can be seen as the answer But nobody bleeds for the dancer" Genius: 3 possible meanings are presented: Dancer could describe a person who’s lost, and doesn’t know his way, and is just “dancing”. Thus nobody can really love others if poor, or unconditionally. Another explanation could put dancer as the person who knows the way and acts, which would mean there’s no love because nobody can truly appreciate what others do. A 3rd explanation could define dancer as one who controls everything: God. Thus, nobody truly loves God, which implies you won’t find a meaning to life without God.
@benjin3993
@benjin3993 3 жыл бұрын
I always saw it as the dancer is the person we love, someone who is majestic to behold in our eyes, yet as we all live now we wouldn't lay down our lives for those we love to watch because we only love their actions and movements, not the person.
@seanh7585
@seanh7585 3 жыл бұрын
I took it as the dancer is someone who suffers in service of others, works hard to the point of hurting or bleeding. The working class bleeds in servitude of society, and the wealthy class just partakes in the product of their work, without having to bleed in their servitude.
@TheDark1903
@TheDark1903 3 жыл бұрын
@@benjin3993 this is the interpretation I've always taken it as. You love the dancer for what they do, but not for they are. So you don't sacrifice anything for that love. But in order to find the line between "heaven and hell" (which is HERE) you've got to bleed even for the dancer.
@balgus82
@balgus82 3 жыл бұрын
It's the 2nd. Love is the answer, but no one bleeds for the dancer. and at the end it says you gotta bleed for the dancer. The dancer is the person who loves, and no one bleeds for them. No one supports the ones that act out of love.

Alex: During an internet chat on June 5, 1999 someone asked Ronnie who the “dancer” is. His response: The dancer is the free spirit unfettered by chains and not confined by four walls. No one seems to care much for those they can’t control. So...there ya go. Also....the people that are suggesting you react to "Sign of the southern Cross" have a good idea. I've read a lot of different opinions on this, some make sense, others, not so much. Dio has said this song was directed at up and coming artists, to encourage them to pursue their dreams and not be deterred by whatever powers that be. In that spirit, I think of the dancer as perhaps a metaphor for the arts, how nobody advocates for the arts nearly as strongly as say, politics and power. The world is full of Kings and Queens, who'll blind your eyes and steal your dreams.

Long before the internet, before 500 channels on TV...so many lazy afternoons in my teenage bedroom zoning out to this album with friends. Many late nights in dorms, parties in the woods, driving to/from work to the sounds of classic Sabbath. How many hours did I hear my kid brother fumbling around in the next room, learning to play this? Great memories. A simpler, more beautiful time. Today it still stands up; my own kids are enjoying it just as much as we did back in the day. Black Sabbath is the ocean from which all heavy metal rivers flow.

Bleeding for someone is the ultimate in giving. Bleed for the dancer....give to the dancer. Dancer is the entertainer, the thing in your life that makes you want to continue life, to continue to be happy to continue just continuing. Bleed for the dancer=make sure you give your attention and time to the things/people/whatever it is in your life that makes you happy and want to keep going.

"Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer". There was an old Black Sabbath interview I saw here, but cant find it or remember the name of, in which Ronnie responds about Heaven n Hell lyrical meanings, when asked about this phrase and the answer he previously gave as "Dancing is art, the dancer gives everything for the audience but no one gives for them" he detailed and said that the "Dancer" is the person who is seeing love as the answer for everything so he spends his life giving love and care without expecting anything in return but the people on the other end will accept the unconditional love and care but will not reciprocate that back to him nor will they acknowledge his help or even help him when in need because we live in a world where the balance between heaven and hell could turn in favor or against you at any given time. Ronnie was a wise man, may his soul Rest In Power 🤘🤘

"Dancing is an art and the dancers give everything to the audience and no one gives back." I just read this comment here and thats what it is all about. The sentence "You've got to bleed for the dancer" connects to the first opening words of the brilliant song which is "Sing me a song, you are the singer". If you are the singer, then maybe I am the dancer. And the turning point is: Bleeding for the dancer means Empathy.
