If only you can find a dark navy rubber strap for it. The feel of the weight of this watch on your wrist would be awesome.

Platinum watches tend to be so ridiculously overpriced. There is no reason why this watch should cost 4.5x as much as the steel model.

gmansplit gold too. Those “precious” metals don’t cost anywhere near what makers want for them.

Gold is also culpable, but less so. For example, it is frankly absurd that a Platinum DayDate costs twice as much as a gold one when the extra value in metal is generously 1500 dollars.

gmansplit It’s absolutely absurd! Take a Submariner. Nominally $10K in all steel. Its all gold counterpart is about $30K. So a $20K premium for all gold?!? Hmmm, the all gold Sub is what, five ounces? Gold is under $1,200/ounce. That makes it $6,000 worth of gold if it were 24K. But it’s not 24K. And the filler ingredients, copper and silver, are very inexpensive in comparison. Figure $4,500 for the gold (at 18K), not a nickel more than $20 for the silver, and very generously $10 for the copper. Add it up and you’re talking a grand total of $4,530 worth of precious metal on a Submariner. Where did the remaining $14,470 for the pricing difference between the steel and the gold go?!? And platinum - those numbers are exaggerated even further than they are for gold! And Swiss watch makers are wondering why their industry is collectively choking right now!
