Tim in all fairness to UN your trilogy is incredible. Dowling, Dufour and now Max Busser! Excellent as always. Learning more in a 30 min KZbin video than I ever learned in school (sorry Bruce, but it fits). Who’s next Tim?😉

I was fortunate enough to have been able to spend some time with Mr Busser a few years ago in a private event... He is extremely humble, creative and inspirational. His creations, needless to say, are absolute works of art. Love these interview series, Tim and Watchbox team.

Ok, Max Büsser is an awesome person. This interview has shed so much light, for me, about MB&F. I enjoyed this 40 minutes so much! Way cooler than I thought the owner and founder of one of the greatest watch companies in the world would be like. Thanks, Tim for the interview.

Loved his comments on the "watches as investments" thing. This made me feel so good about myself, knowing that the watches I have and want to have have been chosen by my heart, and not because I want to make money on them. This really is the single greatest problem the industry is facing. When the buyers no longer appreciate the craft and see it as just a way to make a quick buck, that's when you know there's something wrong with the industry. Just look at the car industry! People are now selling ALLOCATIONS for cars that they have never even seen and that's gonna be launched in some 2 years. This sick behavior drives prices up, making it impossible for normal people who love the product and have sacrificed a lot to be able to afford it, to even get the damn thing. I love knowing that there are companies that simply do not pander to these guys and will blacklist these flippers. Cars, like watches, are meant to be used and loved. If you don't love it, then you shouldn't be buying it in the first place.

Best interview on WatchBox! Max’s story is very inspiring, not wanting to grow the company because he wanted to spend time with his family, since he rarely saw his dad growing up. An impressive visionary, watchmaker AND FAMILY MAN! Max you are a legend and I hope to one day one of your watches.

Great interview Tim. Always inspiring to hear Max speak. His point about watch collecting vs. watch 'profiting' was just great! For the next DWW please make a full coverage of the Dubai M.A.D Gallery. Definitively worthy!! Best, Amintas

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview Tim. Made me see MB&F in a different light. Such passion and commitment to something he loves. I liked what he said about the biggest threat to the watch industry - hordes of people getting into it just to make a profit and not because they truly love watches. Please do more of these interviews with watchmakers - it's fun to see their personalities come out.

Beyond watches, his life insight was very welcoming. Being a business owner myself, scaling is always an issue. Ironically I started business ownership to be more in control. I’ve learned that I’ve just gained more problems and less independence. I’ll have to learn the balance between work and life like him. Great interview.

This is a WatchGuy! I sold my Black cerachrom for less than $6500 last December, just because I was sick and tired of the craze. That was the only watch I sold NOT losing any money. I have always believed that it’s the price to pay for the usage , the joy of ownership etc. I think I can understand what Max felt during that dinner party when everyone was talking about the Pepsi...!

I hate how so many people who are just getting into buying watches ask 'will it go up in value?' when they buy their watch. The crazy situation with Rolex has made too many people become driven by greed when they look at buying a watch. I personally think if every Rolex Authorised Dealer had five of the Rolex Professional models in every AD window far less people would want them. At the moment, so many people want a Rolex and only from an Authorised Dealer , purely driven by greed, and the possibility of flipping their watch, even if they don't flip it. They don't even wear these watches, and Rolex professional models are made to be worn and enjoyed. A watch sat in a safety deposit box is a bloody waste, and the person who owns it gets no enjoyment from it whatsoever. Then, who knows in a very modern future, maybe their grandchildren will benefit from the sale of that watch, but the original owner won't.
@tbd16134 жыл бұрын
My opinion is that people who want watches want their watches to retain their resale value. We as consumers want the tourbillon, minute repeaters, etc however we dont want to loose 50% after the purchase. The companies that make these watches and control their production and thereby increasing their secondary prices will get the consumers $$$$.
@leyay75404 жыл бұрын
So in the end you will need to join the "waiting list or loyalty to the AD/brand game". In my opinion hobbies would inevitably cost money, especially when you prefer to buy new items. Anyway that's a personal preference so everyone can has his own opinion.

An unnecessary comment. If you don't know who he is and have no intention of learning about who he is then just leave and don't comment negatively. However, if you're open minded, I urge you to learn about other brands beyond the mainstream Richemont, Swatch, Rolex. And if you had the patience to finish this interview, you could have left inspired and left more fulfilled than simply leaving a crappy comment like that. Peace.
