I had a dream once where Jack and Tim debated each other; it was like Superman and Batman fighting. What you’ve done here is even better: you’ve joined forces as the World’s Finest team. Fanboys rejoice!

OMG yes! With Jack AND Tim WB has reached a whole new level. The experience and knowledge here is monumental, I love that these two giants were given the spotlight instead of a tray of watches. There are many Greubels, Tim and Jack are one of a kinds. Thank you! As for GF, this was a great discussion because it's hard to rationalize their pricing or appreciate their work without deeper discussion. I actually think the recent non tourbillon watches are a significant piece to the GF story. It's a little like Jurassic Park, Robert and Stephen stood on the shoulders of geniuses and took the next step with the multi axis tourbillons 😂 but the naissance d'une montre which lead to the signature 1 and handmade 1 are a return to basics and seeking excellence through foundational mastery. It is like they've come full circle, from achieving most complex of watches to now finding appreciation for simplicity and mastering their own balance wheels and hairsprings.... A little like De Bethune. Now as the Calce era begins, they can build up from a new foundation with the non-tourbillion movements. I would love to see a tourbillon made with their in house large balance wheel, like a hand made 1 but not hand made.... for people on a budget. It would be great to do a session like this on De Bethune. In the same way GF needs a deeper discussion to be appreciated, De Bethune can also be difficult to understand, especially on the design side. In particular, some of the early design inspirations from Zanetta and intentional connection between space and time and watches might help people understand the aesthetic not as star trek inspired but something more meaningful and philosophical.

Has anyone ever done any tests with a tourbillion where you compare the rates as normal against the rates of the same watch with the tourbillion "knocked out", perhaps with the removal of a driving gear or something?

Talking about what a tourbillon in a wrist watch, is like how every Batman movie needs to show Bruce Wayne’s parents getting shot in a ally…we don’t need that origin story everytime 😅
