I love when games actually give you a visible body. Seeing the damage on your character's body can really hammer home what they are going through, not to mention the unintended scares of seeing your own shadow or reflection.

Wow what a good game. Jump-scares usually come across as cheesy and predictable, but these were well done. A couple of them got me good! The game looked pretty good too, I felt like they got the flashlight looking correct, not too OP bright but not too weak either. Seems like a number of developers can never get the "flashlight" visual effect done correctly. I would have liked to seen a little bit more, but I guess sometimes a game doesn't need to drag on and on to be a good experience. Thanks Chris, nice job to the devs too.

Point on about the usual flashlight. This one was perfect, so why can't the rest of the devs get it right? Don't remember which game it was recently where you literally couldn't see a damn thing with the flashlight on and Chris had to shut it off to read the documents. Really, really annoying.

Is this made by the same guy that made Wrong Floor and 9 Childs Street? The style is strikingly similar to his usual fare, and the absolute mastery of building tension before scaring you and then dipping back into darkness feels like something he'd craft. Either way, terrific game and terrifying presentation. Props to both Chris and the dev!

In case anyone wondering : Psalms 5:9-12 (BBE) For no faith may be put in their words; their inner part is nothing but evil; their throat is like an open place for the dead; smooth are the words of their tongues. Send them to destruction, O Lord; let their evil designs be the cause of their fall; let them be forced out by all their sins; because they have gone against your authority. But let all those who put their faith in you be glad with cries of joy at all times, and let all the lovers of your name be glad in you. For you, Lord, will send a blessing on the upright man; your grace will be round him, and you will be his strength. Some versions are 9-13 but some are 9-12 🤗

Just read this in the NIV since I was innately curious of its title; not religious myself, though. For anyone passing through here's the short of it: Be righteous in your ways, for everything *Always* comes back around. I.O.W: karmic returns; be good, then you need not worry. ❤️

@@haizuru1 It has nothing to do with righteousness or anything karmic. Like all christian thought, it speaks of a vengeful diety, that condems all that do not bow to it, whether they've done something to deserve it or not is secondary - "...because they have gone against your authority".

@@Fossil_Frank Some Christian thought, definitely, but not all. Calvinism is very much in line with this mentality of predetermined salvation and a relationship with the divine based on authority. Others see the root of that relationship as love, not power though. Check out John Cobb, he took the idea of process philosophy and applied it to theology with some beautiful and thoughtful conclusions.

My interpretation is that you are playing as one of the “enemies” from verse 8 who is bearing the consequences (scarred and bloodied body, being haunted, being tormented, etc.) of their deceitful nature (anomalies?) and deadly/violent actions (all the carnage?) that we see in verses 9-10 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not really getting the 11-13 reference since he clearly was not singing for joy or experiencing a very blessed or favorable time 😂 I also think it is interesting that there are only like 5 translations that have a Psalm 5:13… most translations stop at verse 12. So the title of the anomaly game is an anomaly itself

Good lord, the way this probably damaged my heart with how I felt it leap out of my chest at some of those scares. "Spot the difference" games can sometimes be creepy but not really freak you out too much.... but man, this one really makes sure to drive in the atmosphere and then bean you with a perfectly places jumpscare. For all the silly proportions of the main 'ghost', something about the detail of the head/face honestly offset that somehow... It did perfect as something uncanny valley that makes you immensely uncomfortable. Well done!

Good day - you know the drill by now. Well, this short experience was quite enjoyable. Good visuals, and the surreal scares were effective. I am especially glad that most of them were of the silent variety. After all, they could all easily have been loud jump-scares. Instead, everything is very quiet, making sudden movement all the more eerie. I have always been fond of monsters and such just watching you from afar in horror games, ominously beckoning you to approach their location. Does not always make sense, naturally, but it worked here. Since there is no real plot going on, I would call this an experience, rather than a proper game. Just a neat sequence of scares, and the few jump-scares that happened felt earned and were used modestly. There are many of these out there; thus, it is important that they manage to stand out in some way to leave behind a positive impression. The visuals and silent scares did it for me, so I have little to complain about. Also, I am happy see that there was no obnoxious jump-scare at the end to close things out. More of these, please. Have a good one, ladies and gents.

Credit where it's due, the spooks were quite effective here. Not like aggressive to the point they got annoying. Subtle enough that you could miss some I think. The game felt more like a tech-demo/haunted house but if it was an experiment with scares, it was pretty successful.

I remember a few years back Chris claimed he'd played so many horror games he'd become desensitised. It's good to see that there are still a few games that require a defibrillator on standby. While it might have felt too short, the length was actually perfect - not too long to overstay its welcome, not too short to fail in leaving an impression, and ending just in time to leave the player craving more. As for the title, here's the KJV (only 12 verses exist in classic translations, many modern versions have 13 verses): For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. This beauty of the game is that it's left fully to the player's interpretation, with the scripture providing what may be a clue to the plot or a two-edged sword aimed at the player himself. Is the protagonist paying for his sins or is he a victim overcoming his own death? My own interpretation is somewhere in the middle and takes on a mental health perspective. The severed heads represent people the protagonist believed he wronged in life. Meanwhile, the state of his body reflecting his own self-abuse (lack of self-worth, for example, or constantly blaming himself for mistakes that harmed those represented by the heads). The Watcher is his guilt, always looming nearby. The flashlight becoming unusable every time he is confronted with a new dilemma represents the protagonist's self-doubt plunging him back into darkness every time. The mirror at the end is a good analogy to The Portrait, a classic story about a cursed painting that shows the subject's inner evil. As the protagonist pieces together parts of his life, he good look at himself and seeing only the mental mess looking back. The connection to the scripture is that the protagonist only sees his own wickedness and not the good in himself, thus condemning himself to his own mental hell instead of using the light within himself to rise above this mindset. Such an outlook is common in many mental health disorders and can result in body dysmorphia.
