Walking London’s Viaduct Gardens in Nine Elms on a hot summer day, including looking up at the new 25-metre-long, crystal clear Sky Pool which stretches between the rooftops of the Legacy Buildings of Embassy Gardens. As well as the Embassy of the United States of America in London, which is the largest American embassy in Western Europe, having moved from Grosvenor Square around the end of 2017.

Thank you for another interesting walk along…I had read about the connecting pool a few weeks ago thinking how strange it must be to be swim and see the ground below whilst doing so….seems only residents of the adjoining apartments are privileged The swimmers look almost like birds in the sky !

Amazing place just south of the river. Nine Elms, such a lovely name. US embassy building looks futuristic. That sky pool is a terrific piece of civil engineering. The whole area looks peaceful. What a stunning area - not "visited" here before. Loved how the gardens were so natural even amongst so many tall buildings. Not sure how I feel about that pool though....it just doesn't seem right :-). The area was so quiet - was it just the time of day/week or because it's a newly built area?

its just not a place many would visit, its kinda out the way of "downtown" London and doesnt have a great deal of stores or anything that would pull people into the area.

The whole Nine Elms area has changed so much over the past decade. Not so long ago this area along with Battersea Power station was all run down or derelict

I suspect it's quiet because a lot of those apartments are bought by people who don't live in the country, mainly from the Far East. They don't even rent them out.

Amazing to think America's first embassy was just a townhouse off Groveners Square with zero security. The building is actually still there. John Adams (our first ambassador to Britain, and later President) lived in the building immediately following The Revolution. Let's just say he wasn't the most popular guy in London, and he sure wasn't getting any invites to cocktail parties.
