That's a normal price for a Swiss entry-level mechanical chronographs (i.e. Tissot, Hamilton etc.) But here, you're getting a niche design and a monopusher (which isn't common).

I received my smoked grey salmon a couple of months ago, even better than I expected. The smoked grey and salmon colors work really well together. The green strap actually looks great with the watch. Thanks for reviewing Britt!

For a lot of watch collector folks, $1700 is affordable. I did buy the choc0chip 01 series last year and really do like it. But it was $600. For $1k+ I feel like I can get more watch than what this brand offers. Studio Underdog feels like a fun indie brand but not something ppl "aspire" to own so pricing above $1k may not connect for many, including me.

Well, i am following watch industry for many many yrs now, i have in mind few things to buy. SU is hugely hyped, decent product but look at the prices just for colorful dial and on top of that waiting list. For same or less we can get lacos, tissot, mido, alpina, certina etc. Dont get me wrong i will even consider Brue watch.

They put so much effort into marketing and wacky dials and do the smallest amount of design on the watch case. It looks like a basic aliexpress watch case. No finesse at all.

This may be my favorite of their chronographs. The salmon and grey color combo is pretty nice. Otherwise, my 2nd favorite is the mint chip as that's probably my favorite ice cream flavor.

I had a (limited to 90 pieces) Rotten Egg in my cart at place order during the most recent drop and the website was going bonkers. That’s what pisses me off the most about this new FOMO model these brands use. On the plus side, some of the other limited references stayed available for well over an hour so it seems the hypebeast era is thankfully coming to an end.

I have no idea why everyone in the media is so crazy about Studio 'Underd0g'. Massive hype watch. Don't get me wrong - fine if that's your taste - but very kitsch and I just don't understand why they get the plaudits versus other micros. If I was any number of micro manufacturers, I would be feeling very sore. When they were in the £500 pond I could appreciate what they were doing, but at this price point I'm really confused. They're now in Kurono Tokyo money and that's no competition in my eyes.

The brand started as a fun affordable watch. Then the Moser effect jumped the price. I kinda think there are better watches for the money. But hey the concept of dials that are different from others seems to be a constant hit. They need to be more attainable to sustain the momentum.

I really like these watches and contrary to what people say about some of their dials… these are excellent day to days. My issue with the brand is the seagull movements in their lower end watches. That’s not a repairable movement… so when it’s in a $200 watch, as long as you know it’s only good for as long as it works, that’s fine. But when you put them in a $600+ watch… that basically means you buy a new movement or you junk the watch when it stops working and 600 is past the price point that it starts mattering. Overall, I love the designs but they do need to move away from the seagull movements.

Thank you for this video! I have mixed feelings about this watchmaker. The first 01 and 02 were UFOs, offering disruptive looks. Bravo for this breath of fresh air. But there's another side to the coin: while we were wisely waiting for our orders for 01 Watermelon and co. Studio underdog released the collab with Moser and this Salmon version. It would have been cooler to deliver to us and then diversify, rather than the other way round. As for this version, I like the colours, but I don't think it's very graceful and I don't see the point of having a slice of fish on your wrist. But that's just a matter of feeling.

The Salmon is their colorway that has appealed to me most along with the dial texture. The complication is unnecessary. I'd probably get it if it had the movement and price of the watermelon though I've heard people complain they need more complicated movements so they probably can't win with the complainers but I think it looks great.

I just got a the 02 series pink lemonade and im really enjoying it. I was close to pulling the tigger on one of these. I got the email about the smoked salmon and that almost pushed me over the edge, but truthfully i like the one with writing more. I did get end up going for it though as i just didnt feel like spending the money that the 03 series cost.

BP: T4YC. I was eating my sushi, and choked on a piece of fish, when you said you "prefer a simpler dial layout" (sic). The comparison watch, used as a demonstrator, is your much loved Daytona! That dial is so busy, that the designers had to delete the line of text saying "Patented busy dial", as there wasn't enough space, on the busy dial! I think this watch shows how cleverly StudioUnderDog are using the Moser collaboration. Can I say to the owner, congratulations on a top notch piece of marketing. And of course great designs.

I love Studio Underd0g. I think they are a very healthy presence in the watch industry. My Series 01 Mint Chocolate Chip is a favorite and gets lots of wrist time.

In my opinion these look too thick. I have been very impressed with my strap tailor straps, it is good to see them not cheap out with the strap. I think the next step for the brand would be to offer something a tad sportier on a bracelet. I know bracelets can be tough to do for a small watch brand, but it seems to me that Christopher ward is able to do it very well. This might be a ways off for Studio Underd0g yet. Also, $1700 is too expensive, these should be around $1200 or $1300 at most.

I very much like and encourage new micro brands to express their creativity. This is what we the watch enthusiasts appreciate and love. However, creating a “hard to get” hype around watches is IMO wrong and stupid. For that reason I don’t like SU. If they are choosing the Rolex way, they will never win my appreciation.

I do like the look of Studio Underd0g watches, but just not sure if I would ever get one. I think this serise 03 looks great. I think I might go for a 02, but a 01 looks great too. The real problem is that I am mindful that the joke might get s bit stale (probably why I am more drawn to the 02) It does make me wonder who actually buys them, I am guessing people who can afford them and don't think the joke will go stale or properly rich people who don't care if it does because they can afford loose the £800 to £1.7k on a Studio Underd0g watch. (if I had a lottery win I wouldn't think twice).

I wish studio underdog the best. But I bought a strawberries and cream a few years ago and was very underwhelmed by the watch and sold it almost immediately. The good thing about them is they hold their value. Keep doing what they're doing though. It's fun.

Yeah, the watermelon is a lot cheaper than this one, but it has a chinese ST1901 movement. I've heard mixed things about that movement. It doesn't seem to be the most reliable. For a swiss-made mechanical chronograph, I find it natural that the price is going to be over €1k.
