I chose the Santos over the Tank because I felt the Tank was too much of a one-dimensional dress watch, and I couldn’t justify spending that much money to wear it three times a year. The Santos works in a lot more situations, especially given how easy it is to swap between the bracelet and the strap and change the look.

I actually wear a vintage Cartier Tank Must vermeil with the small rectangular gold stripe dial almost all the time, given how comfortable it is to wear, and how easily pairable it is with smarter outfits. It gets almost all of my wrist time, even above my Rolex DayDate and my Nautilus 5712.

Go for both. I have the Santos de Cartier large Grey (black ADLC) and the Tank Must XL with a blue alligator strap and black strap. You are 100% correct. They are not the same and I enjoy wearing both. Both are very versatile. The Santos is awesome with the quick switch system and the alternate black rubber strap. The Tank goes with suits, jackets and T-shirts and jeans. You can’t go wrong. Tell you what,…throw in a Seiko “King Turtle” (SRPH55) dive watch and you have an awesome watch collection!@@TradeMarcmultimedia

I definitely like the 3 watch collection idea. I would keep cheap Casios out of that since they are cheap beaters that are fun to have. I’m working towards finishing up my 3 watch collection. I’ve gone through a bunch of watches, some more expensive than others. Right now I have these two: PRX 35 Auto and BB58 Gilt. I have 18 watches in my collection. I do my best wear a different watch everyday. If it does not "match" my outfit so be it, there nothing quite like pairing a demin jacket with a Cartier Tank or a Suit with a G-Shock. Life is too short and the future is uncertain so wear your watches.

I have my Alpinist SPB121J1, my Cevert 6139 6002, G Shock GWM5610 Solar square, and a Poljot Ocean Vintage Chronograph as my current collection. I feel the Poljot and the Cevert are kinda the same type of watch, so I'll probably sell the Poljot. Looking to get something dressy, preferably a Seiko Tank of some sorts as a dressy piece in the future. So if we don't include the G shock, I'm at a 3 watch collection, and I'm perfectly happy with it. If anyone knows of an alternative to the Seiko Tank, something that's similar to a Cartier Tank but in the below 300usd category, be it a microbrand even, let me know. Cheers

For me Britt, my Midsize Pre-ceramic Seamaster Professional had to fight my Mk. II Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 GMT for the dive watch spot in that 'useful' category which says a lot for the CW. Both have that wave dial design but the black color dial and red GMT bezel of the CW ultimately won.

My 3 watch collection: 1. Work/exercise = Apple Watch Ultra $800 from Apple sitting on a Nomad Rugged Band. 2. Fun = Rolex Explorer II ref.16570 $5500 Ginza District Japan my first ever Rolex bought in 2015, back when I thought Archieluxury was the guy to follow when it comes to Rolexes. It currently sits on a NATO by Crown and Buckle. 3. Dress/Suit/sometimes for fun watch = Rolex Datejust 41 ref.126300-0019 $8100 from AD in CA bought in 2021, I always wanted an Explorer I to go with my II. But I also wished it would come with a date window. Stock. I'm happy with this combo, it's nothing extravagant and both Rolex feels like it's a part of my life. I can appreciate cool luxury watches but I don't see myself selling these two or buying anything else. These two Rolexes will probably be scuffed to hell(but never abused) when I pass them onto my kids/grandkids from my death bed, they would have lived a good life and so have I.

If only choose 3 watches, I would choose steel models within one brand. If need conversation/statement piece, upgrade to special edition or precious metal. 36mm Explorer, 41mm Sub and Tank are at the absolute core of my collection. They cover all bases, I love them to bits and they are really, really…boring. That’s why I couldn’t stop at three watches. Now that I have watches, that I can wear on any occasion, I can let loose and have a bit of fun. The only criteria is, that I gotta like a watch. I don’t care about having watches, that are similar or do sort of the same thing in my collection.

For me I have viewed my collection (selection really) as the 5 W’s. Whenever, Wedding, Whatever, Wow, Wet/War. Whenever, the default watch, nice enough that it would not be out of place if you get surprised by formality, but not so nice that you are blinging out. Wedding, a watch for formal occasions. Whatever, a watch cheap enough to where when painting or remodelling. Wow, a special watch to start conversation. Wet/War, a watch that could survive any situation, the watch you would grab if the russians/americans/aliens invaded your nation.

I should say that a single watch can occupy multiple W’s. My Whatever and my War are the same modded F91, my Whenever is in flux presently, but sometimes it is also my Wedding or my Wow.

What is the freaking fantasy with Rolex among watch collectors?! That's one watch brand I can't tolerate. In fact, I exchanged my last Date Just to get my hands on my AP Royal Oak. I would trade Rolex for any other watches on the planet.

🤣💕 it’s really not for everyone ! And that’s ok! Honestly - I think for what they are: quite well priced (at retail) stainless steel sports watches… they’re fantastic! Every single bracelet option is fantastic, and only mechanical movements even in the tiny 28mm watches (women rejoice). AP, for example, loves a bit of quartz for their ladies options. 🤣 But AP and Rolex are no where near the same worlds! That’s like comparing…. Nando’s and a Michelin star restaurant lol…

@@BrittPearceWatches Do all the Rolex watch sizes fit you well? I used to have the Datejust 41 and the reason I didn't use to the wear them is because the watch was too big on my wrist. After it has been sitting for so long a few month's back I finally decided to let it go and get the AP instead. However, after exchanging my Rolex, I was missing it (or maybe people recognise Rolex more than any other watches) so, went to an AD to get a new Datejust - the 36 mm version. But this time the 36 felt too small on my wrist. So, I finally registered my interest for VC FiftySix. Even though VC FiftySix is 40 mm but somehow it fits my wrist so perfectly. ...Or I don't know maybe I just don't like the overhyped branding of Rolex, which might have created a negative effect in my head. BTW which one is the Nando's and which one is the Michelin star restaurant in your opinion? (just checking)
