The actor who played Dr. Crane to this day during his scene with batman when he got gassed still amazes me. The ways he acts with his eyes is absolutely amazing I really buy the terror and to me the way he finds a way to convey that terror with his eyes and a few simple words is top acting

Batman’s “No Killing” rule is meant to be a self-imposed limit. Despite what a lot of media might say, Bruce knows he is not a perfect being. He knows that if he ever kills, he can never trust himself to know when to stop.

He also has respect for the law, even if the police and lawyers in Gotham don't measure up. As he says in this movie, he's not an executioner. No one invested him with the right to take a life.

I love the "it's your father's name" line but the "but I don't have to save you" line really seems out of character. He isn't directly murdering someone but Bruce has always aimed to capture villains because it offered them a chance at redemption hence him not killing truly psychotic and evil characters like the Joker.

Batman has been around for almost 80 years so he’s been through a lot of incarnations, from dark and brooding (like in this movie) to light, colorful, and downright colorful and goofy. If you want to see Batman at his goofiest, check out Batman: The Movie from 1966, starring Adam West (the mayor from Family Guy) as Batman. You’ll also recognize The Penguin as the same actor who played Rocky’s trainer, Mickey.

So the reason Batman didn't have the antidote on him is because Lucius Fox had to make more. So Batman went out without it because 1. It wasn't finished yet and 2. becausde when you take the antidote you are set. You wont be affected by the gas. Love your reactions and Im soo happy you're doing Christopher Nolans Batman. It's funny that the actor who plays Joffrey in Game of Thrones is also the little blond boy that Batman saves near the end of the movie. I can't think of anything else he's been in but it's definitely two iconic things.

At 8:10 when Liam Neeson's character said it was Bruce's father's fault, I assumed he was saying it to provoke his anger - not that he necessarily meant it literally. He was saying to to see if Bruce would lose control - something he is not supposed to do under any circumstances if he is trained well.

Mostly but I also think he was saying it was his dad's fault because he knew what Gotham was and wasn't able to protect himself. And if I remember correctly his dad was trying to save Gotham.. .and as we find out later they don't think that's possible. So basically by trying to save something that they don't feel should be saved he brought about his own death. He's saying Bruce's father was misguided and that is what ultimately caused his death

Honestly I agree, though I wouldn't find a use for saying it to Bruce's face. His father should've known better than to lead his family into some poorly lit back alley with no form of protection. For all Thomas' goodwill, he only saw the poor Gotham through a window, and trusted a city he didn't know. In that moment Thomas was too toothless, moral though he was, to do anything. What's hard is to have teeth and still have the principle to decide when not to use them.

Batmans first rival was the riddler i believe, his second is scarecrow, then joker, and finally Bane. Used to love the comics and cartoon. This series with Christian Bale is great.

It wasn't just Hans Zimmer who composed the music for this film. It was also James Newton Howard. He left the DKR cause Zimmer kept getting all the credit, and he didn't want to feel like a third wheel.

I am always unsure which one I prefer more. Heath Ledger is insane, but so is the whole third one. Action fullstop, amazing antihero, and an insane end to the trilogy. Just by the "artsy" factor I guess the second one is to be prefered (go Joker!), I personally do love the third one more, too. But I understand how people say #2 is the best. Personally, watched the Dark Knight Rises a LOT more because I enjoy it more. One of the few movies I can just go back to and still enjoy it. The opening scene in the plane alone catches me each time. And sets the tone for Bane.

The Joker comes in for The Dark Night, which is the next movie. It was also widely considered to be Heath Ledger's greatest role (he tragically passed away not long after). Rachel was recast, but it is easily the best of the three movies in this trilogy.

Fun fact DPLeo: Ras Al Goul is immortal, they don’t show you, but he has a resurrection chamber called ‘The Lazarus Pit’. His body died after Bruce burned his house down and the burning Timbers fell on him, so he came back in the body of Ducot and burned Bruce’s house down and left him for dead out of spite.😎😉

The gas is an early stage of Scarecrow's fear toxin. Not in the movies, but in the Batman comic world it becomes so potent that it's absorbed not only through the lungs but can also be absorbed through your skin, making gas masks useless

Most people obviously know that The Dark Knight is the sequel, but there's another movie that happens between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight called Batman: Gotham Knight, and it explores the ensuing gang war and the Rise of Sal Maroni After Falcone is put away. It also touches on the narrows being shut down and quarantined because of all the crazy people running around with all the other gassing victims. It was made by a Japanese animation studio, and it's split into seven parts each with a different art style. Several minor characters in the animated movie show up in The Dark Knight as well. Definitely worth a watch as part of this movie series.

This was sort of based on a comic book, "Batman: Year One". It's an origin story. The bats swarming at the crime scene is right from the comics. Pretty amazing beginning to a great trilogy.
