Disney also doesn't portray the death of love ones in their movies too often as well which might help with the reaction too moth loved one's deaths happen b4 the movie starts or off screen like we know it happens but we the audience are not there in the moment of the death we just see the aftermath of it

I find it interesting that Callaghan couldn’t see the irony. Hiro’s anger was the same as his, yet he brushed Tadashi’s death off as “his mistake” while plotting revenge on Keri for an “accident.” It’s a weakness that we have as human beings, thinking our own pain is far worse anyone else’s and it justifies our actions. But when someone else does or wants to do the same thing we did for a similarly “justified” reason, we judge them. This, of course, doesn’t apply to everyone, but I’ve seen it so many times. I feel that that was the message I got from this movie. Pain and loss don’t justify cruelty and more harm. I love that Hiro learns that!

This film's portrayal of grief is so incredibly spot on and mature. It's one of Disney's finest post-Renaissance films, in my opinion. Was unfairly overshadowed by Frozen, which I personally don't think is nearly as nuanced and emotionally impactful as this gem. No hate to Frozen, because BH6 was clearly aimed at an older demographic.

The problem with Big Hero 6 is definitely the badly written villain, I think he's even worse than Hans. When I watched the movie I was completely disappointed because of that.
@Wolfinityy
@Wolfinityy 3 жыл бұрын
@@LuisGustavoSO I don't see how Callaghan is a "bad villain" in comparison to Hans. They technically have the same character troupe; with the whole "being portrayed as the good guy then ends up being the villain" type deal. I quite like how both Hiro and Callaghan have similar situations. Though they have similar ways to deal with loss (Almost). Hiro had a good support system, while Callaghan did not. (from what we know, I'm assuming he only had his daughter, and losing someone you really care about hurts a lot, especially if that was his only family left and Krei was responsible for his daughter's "death" aka disappearance. Of course, he would want revenge just like Hiro. It was kind of nice seeing the difference between someone getting one type of support while the other had none at all. It really shows you the outcome of that.

frozen is actually very nuanced and has more emotional depth than you think. it just wasn't in a way you relate to, which is likely why you think that. personally i related strongly to the characters in frozen, elsa in particular, more than any of the characters in this movie. it is unfortunate that big hero 6 didn't get as much attention as it deserved, but frozen was popular for good reason and it was a movie that deserved its popularity and the hype. everyone just loves to hate whatever's most popular because they think it makes them cool or superior or something (best examples over the years of this: the hate people had for one direction and their fans, the hate people have for kpop and its fans, the hate people have for youtuber Dream and his fans, etc. it's proved over and over again that everyobne is just jumping on the hate bandwagon with regurgitated reasons with little to no basis that they heard from someone else.) anyway, i would highly recommend you watch the videos Psychology of a Hero: Elsa, and Psychology of a Hero: Anna by Cinema Therapy. the things they discuss really help you see frozen in a clearer light.

@@Wolfinityy YT just notified me after the last guy commented. I never said Hans is a good villain, however he's not nearly as influential or crucial to Frozen as Callaghan is to Big Hero 6, which means he harms his film's storyline far more than Hans harms Frozen's.

Honey Lemon’s “powers” are so cool when you think about it - she has to constantly be thinking about chemistry and what combination is going to useful - and what won’t literally blow up in her face / be detrimental. And she does it so fast! Its really cool when you think about it since the others are more directly flashy, but hers is more indirect.

This is one of the most emotional movies I've ever seen and I still cry everytime I watch it. What I find intriguing is that the villain and hero are both dealing with loss and handle it in their own, first kind of similar ways, but while Callaghan can't let go of revenge, Hiro can. This movie really shows the coping with loss and depression really marvelously. The five stages of grief really appear here. I think that it's poetic that Baymax tries to show Hiro the video of Tadashi very early on, but because Hiro isn't ready to fully accept his brother's death and feels guilty, it doesn't open. Only when he fully breaks down and uses the exact words "Tadashi is gone", he gets to some kind of acceptance, Baymax can show him the video and Hiro can begin to heal. Parallels between Tadashi and Hiro are really touching to see as well. When you were happy for him, I was thinking: "Oh no, wait for it.. the mood is going to change really quickly soon.." When I watched this movie for the first time, I knew that Disney had a habit to find somewhat happy endings, but I was still sure that Baymax wouldn't return and weeped my eyes out. Luckily, that wasn't the case. Baymax is my absolutely favorite Disney-"sidekick" and I love how his voice becomes less robotic and more human during this movie. Thanks for your genuine reaction, it was really awesome to follow - with the box of tissues. :D

@@marvffin1677 Elsa was raised to hide her emotions, so all her problems came from a lack of emotional intelligence. She didn't realize she was hurting other people; she thought they were better off without her. I don't think she was a bad character at all; just misled. Fun fact: she and Anna aren't actually apart of the Disney princess canon.

@@marvffin1677 while I do think Frozen is overrated but Elsa wasn't a bad character. The trolls clearly mentioned that fear would be her enemy yet her parents kept her in isolation without much social interaction with outside world. Had they let her groom her emotional and social skills things wouldn't have turned out so bad. Isolation made her to only focus on the bad stuff that could happen if her powers are discovered. All she was taught was to conceal her powers instead of taming it, it only made her feel that her powers were curse and she's better off alone. Harming anyone especially Anna is what she fear the most which eventually came true.
@OpticalSorcerer
@OpticalSorcerer 3 жыл бұрын
@@tbakhalid4781 I agree that Elsa's parents handled the situation poorly--but to be fair, this wasn't a normal situation that they'd know how to properly resolve, and plus her father is a king, and royals are all about maintaining good self-image for their people, even if it may come off as a little apathetic. And he was worried for his people as well as Elsa, showing that as a leader, sometimes you have to put the welfare of the kingdom (including Anna) before Elsa. I don't agree with it, but I understand Elsa's parents' thought process. In the end, they should've trained Anna to be Queen.
@ShinyTogeticFTW
@ShinyTogeticFTW 3 жыл бұрын
@@OpticalSorcerer I think possibly the reason Elsa and Anna aren't Disney princesses is because technically they're not princesses; they're queens. As to the whole "fear will be your enemy" thing, it may be that they thought the troll's warning was just referring to other people's fear of Elsa and her powers (hence the whole "conceal" thing), not Elsa's own fear of her powers hurting the people who are close to her (which was made worse by the "don't feel" thing). Then again, maybe they assumed (hoped) that quashing her powers would stunt them so Elsa wouldn't have to be so afraid - despite the fact that the troll told them her powers would continue to grow... So yeah I guess my argument doesn't hold water after all; they just straight up didn't listen to what they were told. But yeah, it is kind of a lot to expect them to be able to handle the situation effectively.

My little nephew had me watch this with him (he'd already seen it), and when Hiro's brother died, I was so shocked and devastated. I couldn't believe they killed him off, and so soon in the film! It started off so funny and fun that I just wasn't mentally prepared for it. I was like, "WHAT?!!!" and my adorable nephew hugged me and said, "It's okay, Aunt Sherry. It's only a movie. It's not real." LOL. I still cried. I was like, "I can't believe they did that! I'm SO UPSET ... I'm going to need a moment." :D

I quite like how both Hiro and Callaghan have similar situations. Though they have similar ways to deal with loss, revenge (Almost).

I love this film and the scene where Hiro had to leave Baymax in the dimension I was crying and love this film. It is based on a marvel comic series and there was a follow up 2d animated tv series by the creators of Kim Possible. A few easter eggs: The statue beheaded is of Hans from Frozen, The ship in the harbor is a ship from Arendelle from Frozen, Olaf, Yes That was Stan Lee at the end of the film Maya Rudolph voices Aunt Cass, Alan Tudyk who was King Candy in Wreck it Ralph and Hei Hei in Moana voices Krei in this film. James Cromwell (who I highly recommend watch Babe) was Professor Calahan, TJ Miller voiced Fred, One strange detail is Honey Lemon is the only one who pronounces Hiro’s name the correct way. A lot of people didn’t like the twist that Calahan was the villain or even a villain, but I don’t mind it so much as he was just a hurt man who lost his daughter because of a failed experiment, but what he said to Hiro about his brother pushed it too far.

And, the tv series. The first episode/series premiere movie takes place lace just as the first movie is ending. Hiro goes off to school with his friends, discovers the chip and shows the time in between building Baymax and being heroes until it ends the same way this ends…except with a sinister figure watching from a distance. And thus begins the show! There’s a lot of mixed reviews with some liking it and some people disliking it. Me, personally, I liked it! Also, two cool facts! The first few minutes of the movie, the characters are breathing. Like actually breathing! You can see their chests moving up and down! Second, when Hiro is saying goodbye to Baymax, as he stares at him, we can see Tadashi reflected in his eyes because it’s like he’s losing him all over again.

I remember watching this in theaters and was pretty wrecked by Tadashi's death. In twenty-five or so minutes you feel just how much Tadashi cares for Hiro and vice versa. You can't help, but love him and their relationship. Much like the first ten minutes of Up. Which honestly should have been a warning in and of itself, but I hadn't expected it. Until Tadashi went running into the building that is. Though I admit I never believed it was Krei because he was too obvious. He was the red herring. Though Callaghan being alive and the villain also took me off guard. I do need to rewatch this movie. I love it and its been years.

I love this movie, and I cried the first time I watched it, but... I feel like I'm the only person who thinks Baymax should've stayed dead. Like, I get that logically, sure a robot can be rebuilt, but narratively it feels so wrong to me. This whole movie is about grief and how to deal with it, and it does that SO WELL up until the last two minutes. The moral goes from "learn to process your grief" to "learn to process your grief... or just befriend robots! :D" Also people who like this movie more than Frozen constantly complain about Frozen getting more attention than it. Like... the only Disney movies that had a comparable pop culture effect to Frozen would be The Lion King and maybe Cinderella. It's not a common thing for a movie to blow up as much as that one did. Plus this movie literally won an Academy Award, so like, it got DECENT attention.

But as I’m watching when the building blew up, it scared me so bad I jumped but it was just a little bounce 😅 but I immediately began tearing up I didn’t expect it to explode That quick. But other than that I loved laughing with you 😂 and That ending with Stan Lee is EVERYTHING!! I remember how I would see those little surprises of his in those movies. And when I saw him in that I remember thinking “What is up with this guy!? He’s awesome! He is like his own Easter egg!” I don’t hate comics, but I’m not into them 100% but I do Love Stan Lee! He Is The G.O.A.T!!! 💝💝💘

Aaaaand at this movie i also cryed pretty often xD i didn't watched it for years because i thought its another one of these big, cute, fluffy disney kids movie, then i watched it, tadashi runs into the burning building "yea he will be back, just a disney movie after all" house explodes, they zooming to his cap and hearing hiro scream his name in the background ".... eh..... holy SHIET wait, he will be back at the end i bet" later, showing the prof was the villian, flashback where he protected himself with the microbots "ok wow that ain't a kids movie" hiro sees the video of his brother in baymax, me crying af " That ain't a kids movie at all Dx" ending, baymax says good bye to hiro, hiro: i can't lose u too, baymax: i will always be there, me: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" i can relate to that movie to well, sadly only the sad parts...
