As far as Namor’s reasonings. You have to think about how his mom died, Spanish colonizers came to their land & they fell sick of small pox or whatever & that’s what forced them to find alternative means & living. His mom loved the surface world & wanted to be buried in her homeland. Once he saw the slaves & the nature of man he despised humans. It was extreme but it seems like he just didn’t want history to repeat itself in talocon instead of gold and land, they wanted Vibranium

Namor and Shuri’s chemistry was something social media talked about for weeks after the movie came out lol even though he did what he did to her mother, the writers of the movie revealed that they were deleted scenes between them, in which there was romantic innuendo so you’re not imagining that chemistry at all! *Edit Also, you’re not very far off from Shuri’s “arc” I’m not an expert in the comics, but from what I’ve heard and researched she’s a lot more ruthless than T’Challa was…so much so that she had to seek out wolverine in order to control her blood lust

I can see them adapting that story beat into it being the fault of that 2% of the synthetic herb. The movies like to do that alot, grab plots from the comics and twist them so they start and end the same way and have some with the same beats, but everything else is unique... Sadly that sometimes means amazing plotlines get wasted. Hello Ultron, hello the actual Ragnarok of Thor Ragnarok.

Apparently Thunderbolt Ross from Incredible Hulk & Civil War has been recast after William Hurt’s passing. They got Harrison Ford now so I’m predicting he & Val are gonna have pivotal roles in Captain America: New World Order & the Thunderbolts. I think we’re headed towards Dark Reign with the government taking over & replacing the Avengers with the Thunderbolts. Ross will probably become Red Hulk & fill the Norman Osborn role of becoming U.S. President. In the comics, it takes place after Secret Invasion which is an upcoming Disney+ show so it all adds up. They’re probably gonna come for Wakanda which forces Talokan & the Avengers to come to their defense. This will be our Civil War-like conflict before the multiversal shit hits the fan in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty & Secret Wars. Those films will force everyone to get back on the same page against the much larger threat-Kang the Conqueror (& possibly Doctor Doom if they follow the comic storyline).

@FranciscoHOS Жыл бұрын
@@Rmlohner The issue is that the relationship between Chadwick and Tchalla was almost symbiosis. Like Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. And Tchalla was also a cultural impact. So it’s hard to recast a character because of the ties Chadwick’s on screen character had to him. Thunderbolt Ross on the other hand, other than a few appearances in the MCU and Hulk, hasn’t had anywhere near of an impact to audiences. And they have a large amount of material they can still cover with him. With T’challa, they were stuck between a rock and a wall. I get the arguments for both sides, but I think allowing T’challa and Chadwick to rest together and to dive into other stories with the characters around him was a good choice.
@itsrachwhoelse Жыл бұрын
You can see in old interviews with Chadwick & Letitia that they really had a sibling bond, she talks about how he used to hold her hands and kiss her forehead when he could tell she was nervous in front of people or on set & Ryan Coogler says she was the only person who could get him out of his character to laugh and have a fun time on set so I think every single tear she shed for him in the making of this film was genuine & the emotions she let us see in her performance was just her reflecting on her real life pain at his loss. I think everyone put forth amazing performances but I really felt everything her character went through.

Personally i thought Namor was a great character and villain/anti-hero and pretty close to Killmonger. I think his motivations were understandable from his point of view and him having no love for the surface world. He has a really close minded view of the surface world having not interacted with them at all, so he fears what they are capable of doing from what he remembers from the past. He doesn't trust them at all specially now when they had started exploring for vibranium. While waging a war against the surface world does sound outrageous he can go to any lengths to protect his people. Other than that, his action scenes were totally some of the coolest flying scenes in the mcu and totally badass. And the actor totally nailed the role too. While Phase 4 doesn’t have too many connective tissues everywhere, I think it’s important to note that not everything has to connect, so much of Phase 4 is about everyone just emotionally resetting after such a huge event and trying to figure how the world is and how they are. The plan isn’t so obvious but when you look at it big picture, this phase has always been about dealing with the aftermath and everyone is struggling with that grief and trauma in different ways and so has the world. That disconnected feeling is purposeful because everyone is kinda retreating to their own safe corners and trying to figure out where to go and how to carry on legacies of those they lost. It’s not so much course correction as the stories I think proceeding exactly as they wanted, Phase 4 was a little calm before the storm. Also I hope y’all get to check out the other shows and specials, because I think you’re missing out on a lot of fun, especially the talent that is Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel.
@FranciscoHOS Жыл бұрын
Also phase 1 didn’t have as many connections to each other (just the movies from that phase) as people seem to think. Yes it culminated into one movie with the Avengers, but that isn’t necessary in phase 4. There’s so many more characters that putting them all together into one movie would be like Avengers Infinity War/Endgame level instead of Avengers 1 level in terms of number of characters. There’s plenty of connections already that tie the new characters with the existing ones. And we got plenty of sneak peeks into the obvious transition into the multiverse and Kang. People are just expecting phase 4 movies in a phase 1 esque phase.

It's funny because Marvel did what comics do in general. The story was mapped out to Phase 3. Not to say that they weren't doing things to prep coming phases, but it was all coming to a head. Afterwards though, they need to figure out what the next steps are, and they did what most comics do: They settle down and reestablish the character, they throw in some other characters for a different flavor. It's a soft reboot and meant to be a new jumping off point in a book as well as clear the table and begin to set the stage for what's coming next. It also drums up interest in what previously happened happened for the incoming viewers. I thought Captain America was white, why is he now black? Why is there another Hulk running around, and who is this younger looking Hulk dude? I thought Scar Jo was Black Widow? The problem is (and honestly it's probably a good problem for Marvel to have) they've gotten so big they're now almost in a place where it's fans/viewers vs. newcomers/people who may have seen a few. It's a better idea to soft reboot things and set new status quo so people to attempt to jump in, rather than the minimum barrier for entry is to go back and watch 23 movies.

Fantastic movie and an excellent tribute to Chadwick Boseman. The phrase "Imperius Rex" seems to come mainly from Latin, which translates more literally as "Emperor King." In the Marvel comics, this is Namor's familiar battle cry, which he often utters during big fights. Namor is an Anti-Hero. In fact, Namor is often best described as an anti-hero in Marvel Comics. Namor was created by Bill Everett in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939 as an anti-hero who deeply resented the surface world for polluting the oceanic world in which he lived.

My mother died from similarly to Chadwick Boseman from complications from cancer a few years ago, and like Chadwick she kept the fact that she knew she was dying from us until a couple days before she died. So it was very hard to watch this movie, not just because of my mother, but because Chadwick Boseman and the character of T’Challa are my heroes. But it was still a beautiful and cathartic movie to watch. And coming out of the theater I met a family of 10 black people who like me were wearing all white out of respect for Chadwick and T’Challa, we talked about how much we loved the movie and afterwards they let me take a picture of them with their phone in front of the Wakanda Forever poster. One of the most beautiful and cathartic nights of my life. As for the story itself, I loved it. People think that Namor is the villain but he’s not. The real villain is white, European imperialism. Throughout history European empires plundered other nations for either resources or for slaves. Even though it’s 2023 it’s absolutely believable that either Russia, China or the U.S. would look for any excuse to dismantle non hostile nations just to rob them of their resources. The Contessa herself is a perfect example, she’s practically salivating at the idea of America owning all the vibranium in Wakanda. Everything Namor did was because he wanted to prevent what has happened throughout human history to happen to Talocan. And I still cry my eyes out at the end with T’Challa’s son telling Shuri his real name. Rest In Power Chadwick.

1:28:18 Toussaint l'Ouverture, a Haitian general and leading figure of the Haitian Revolution. Was born a slave, apparently is no known as the Father of Haiti. Very significant figure in Haiti, alongside his former lieutenant Jean-Jacques Dessalines (also born into slavery, was named Emperor of Haiti from 1804-1806), Henri Christophe (another former slave who became president in the north of Haiti (that is of the northern part of it) and was named King of Haiti in 1811) and Alexandre Pétion (the only one of the four who was never a slave since his mother was a free "mulatto" woman, who became president of the south of Haiti in 1807). You look up the reference to the name Shuri talked about, amazing the things and people you find out about.

Also for Namor, he was sometimes a hero and villain, marks him an anti-hero. And he's one of the original character in marvel history, alongside Captain America.

Just a quick hidden tip the Siren song was based on the Shanty tune , if you go back and watch it again it was palying long before you noticed but because is was the Shanty song our brains accepted it so quickly no one notices until its taking over . Ludwig Goreson nailed this soundtrack , Its beautiful the amount of research and effort they put into the care of this movie

I didn't have any of the complaints U guys had with the movie I loved it and it's in my all time top 5 for the MCU. I didn't feel it was long and I was fully connected with it. The Atlanteans and Atlantis are in the comics, and Namor is considered the first mutant in Marvel. He is the son of an Atlantean princess and human sailor, making him a 'half-breed'. He is a child of both worlds, hence why he can breathe on land and underwater, and doesn't turn blue when deprived of oxygen. They utilized mesoamerican culture and mythology for the Atlanteans, including their capital city of Talokan (Tlālōcān, protected by the Aztec rain deity Tlāloc, paradise for all who died through drowning or lightning, or as a consequence of diseases associated with the rain deity), they spoke yucatan mayan, and referred to Namor as k'uk'ulkan (yucatan mayan deity known as the feather serpent god). Namor is best described as an anti-hero, as his moral alignment has shifted for decades from being a hero to a villain, usually due to his disdain of air breathers. The talokanil with feathers in her hair is Namora, Namor's cousin, who is also canon. The larger warrior with the hammerhead shark skull is Attuma, who is considered a villain in the comics. They may play it out that Attuma separates himself from Namor and becomes the bad guy post-Wakanda Forever, but his involvement is sorf of vague. The wings on Namor's ankles are canon and considered part of his mutation. Namor calling himself a mutant confirms the X-Men in the MCU, which Namor is sometimes affiliated with in the comics. I love what they did with Namor, giving that culture preresentation for a character who has so much potential. I am really happy how they did the Atlanteans/Talokanil justice!

The “Hate” I see for Namor and Shuri sparing him is really funny to me. Cause it’s like the majority of people don’t understand why sparing him is so Important! And especially for her Character! It’s the same idea for why T’ Challa spared Zemo, Vengeance is not the solution, as it nearly tore both Tony and Steve apart and made Zemo into a Dangerous and unpredictable Villain/Anti-Hero! The film makers Made Namor Hate-able, and that means they did Their Job in making us relate to Shuri’s journey even more! Cause this that’s what this movie is about! It’s about dealing with the Stages of Grief after a person dies. Both Namor and Shuri never dealt with their grief, not in healthy ways. Namor is stuck where he is but realizes that his people need his Leadership! Cause if dies, another Killmonger could rise, and they’d be more dangerous than the last!

I think what’s great about phase 4, personally, is that at face value it’s not all connected. They’re telling stories to set up things in the future, very similar to how Phase One did. The thing is, I think the stories are way more connected than we currently know at the moment, and that there’s going to be more information in Quantumania that shows us the piece we were missing. Maybe not everything is super connected, but there’s patterns that can be spotted. So, even though it’s not perfect, I’ve mostly enjoyed phase 4

They were NEVER going to follow through with the iron heart because of the fact the she is just a kid so either way, he was gonna show up to Wakanda anyway. All he wants to do is protect his people and T'chala did what he felt was right by opening up Wakanda to the world. He didn't even know Talocan existed. None of them did. It's just an unfortunate how it panned out...but it all worked out at the end.

This movie was great in my eyes, but I could feel Chadwick's absence in the most heartbreaking way. I wrestled with watching this movie for the longest time because I wasn't sure if I'd like the direction they took it, but they definitely made the right call. Well done to the filmmakers

I feel like the viewer was supposed to miss Chadwick's black panther in this movie. You could see even in the decisions his mother made how T'Challa would have moved differently. I also liked how realistic it was that even though she gained the abilities of the black panther that Shuri is shown as not that good at fighting and up until the end wasn't that good at leading. She was never trained to be leader of her people nor did she receive the physical training of her brother. That complete ass whooping she got was very realistic.

What I hear from you guys that things don't connect in phase 4. That's the whole point you're missing, phase 1 was introducing the characters, phase 2 was bringing them together to fight the big bad,phase 3 was fighting the big bad and losing and finally triumphing, phase 4 is deal with the lose and grief but reactors don't want to wait 10 years like they did for 1-3. They expected phase 4 to have everything the 1-3 had which is ridiculous. People aren't patient enough for 4-6 now and blame it on tiresome stories which isn't that tiresome. Phase 4 is just like phase 1 in the introduction of new characters,phase 5 is going to be like phase 2 and phase 6 is phase 3.if you pay attention there's a lot of things that connects but it isn't hitting you on the head with its obviousness. Plus if you haven't watched everything then you're just making assumptions. Just because you didn't like certain movies or TV shows that doesn't mean they're not telling a long story with connections. Comic book readers know that things that seems to have no connection at all end up being connected years later
