This movie is so awesome. Me and my dad went to go see this movie when it was in theaters, my dad was over here crying because he was alive during that time we’re a lot of kids we’re getting kidnapped like this and it was a big threat back then. He told me later this was the most realistic with the kidnappings,bully’s, and abu$* (my father was never physically abu$*ed but he was emotionally)[not so much the spirts of corse] That’s how great this film was I have only seen my father cry because of deaths in the family but for a movie I have never seen him do that because of a film.
@dawgholup2 жыл бұрын
I hope he's healed healthily. The black phone was really important not only because it spread the awareness of kidnappings, abuse, etc... But also because this was based off a real case. John Wayne Gacy, or a case that took place long before anyone was born. I can't correctly remember his name.

One of my favorite parts is Gwen repeating "My dreams are just dreams." Her first answer was from fear but the last answer was angry defiance...she was saying the words but it was obvious she knew they were more than that. Her growing irritation at having to lie/say what her dad wanted to hear showed her strength and resiliance. This is proven when she went to talk to her dad about trying to find Finn...knowing how he felt about her abilities and that she was putting herself at risk by discussing them with him. Great performance!

There's a theory about the grabbers past and why he's like this and why he abducts boys and why he doesn't want to show his face.(I'm copying and pasting from Villians wiki) While The Grabber's motivation is never revealed, it was theorized by the creators that his mental instability and the game of "Naughty Boy" come from childhood abuse of his father making him play the same game and that the Grabber is trying to re-live these memories in a routine-type way to invoke nostalgia. Some evidence to support this theory is:The Grabber claims that the phone hasn't worked since he was a boy, possibly relating to his childhood trauma and trying to re-live that experience.While the film takes place in the 1970s, The Grabber performs a 40s-esc magic routine which is possibly another way to re-live the experience.The Grabber's brother, Max, is a drug addict. It is likely that Max also suffered the same abuse and this is his way of coping compared to his brother's way.The Grabber appears to have a psychological urge to keep his mask on when doing his "ritual", as when Finney ripped it off of him before killing him, The Grabber began screaming and trying to cover his face, even when he was being hit in the chest with the phone. However, in the act of kidnapping the kids, he is fine with them seeing his face. His love for his mask is shown again when he is more focused on covering his face than preventing Finney from beating him to near death with the phone.He is slightly more evil in the book, since he sprayed Finney with wasp poison instead of just dragging him into his van, and even refused to give him food.
@emmamoreno22686 ай бұрын
Most likely the grabber flipped out when finney took his mask because he most likely feels if he wears the mask he doesnt have to accept he did these horrible things and it was "someone else" also explains his reaction when he says "this face?" to finney. The mask is his persona to make him feel less guilty. But just a thought, im kinda also bad at explaining lol.

You say not knowing why someone would do this is scary? No, knowing that people have done this in real life is scarier. I remember learning about someone who killed hospital patients "as a kindness, to put them out of their misery." Bull, that person wanted to die himself, but twisted it around and killed other people instead, over and over again. He got away with it for so long because he chose his victims carefully. People like that have a name: Angel of Death. I think the antagonist was once a "naughty boy" and when he got older he wanted to feel powerful and caught boys to make them "naughty boys" so he could get the thrill of power from punishing them. The boys were just objects to him. People in power who abuse, think about other people as objects to be used to fill their selfish desires.
