It's just the nature of entertainment. There's only so much milage you can get out of pro games. Lowko's done these "low tier" in SC2 game commentaries for a while (not sure if he still does). Only difference he had people send him replays, which is a neat idea for this series too.

This is such good content. Seeing the meta builds repeatedly starts to lose some of that creative charm I love about the game. This takes the open and innovative creativity new players have while learning the game, and then streamlines it to show what the potential of it is. Who knows, maybe there's a wild and unpredictable idea out there that could even crack the high level players who are atrophied into meta builds.

Despite me being very uninvolved with the competitive scene of WC3 (cus basically all of my investment was in the custom content, as well as the single player challenge runs), I genuinely love this. The thing I'm really starting to notice about the PvP side of this game is just how much room there is for innovation, as you always have a ton of options, and a great majority of them are at least somewhat viable, or at the bare minimum, playable (compared to, say, a League or DotA character, where you'll only have a very tiny sample of specific items/builds that wouldn't be considered outright griefing, at least by most players). Point being, there's a great potential for creativity in this game, and I think it's cool to bring in some lower elo perspectives, since we've already seen the high elo staples quite a lot. So I really hope we'll get to see more players like this cyan human. While they might not have been the greatest of players, they still came up with something that's interesting, fun, unique, and actually somewhat logical.... well, mostly. It's a neat idea, and neat ideas are what keeps games so fun and engaging. And this one even won..... somehow. So yeah, even more props to this madlad!

idea for Melon, not mr. Grubby: (this is actually insane and if you actually do this I would feel bad): the goal is to level up in the enemies face as many times as possible. I don't play a lot of wc3 so idk how many times could be possible, but i would assume by pre-killing all the creeps to 1 hp and then having a unit go 1 hit them all over the map. it would be funny to me. either do the creeps with a levelled hero and then make a new hero that's top of level 1 and then do it or just with your starter hero. would be great

This "why do they play w3c if they're bad" guy casted volcano on my ass. And I think my ass is a building, because the damage factor was quite high. The MMR ladder system exists to match similar level players. No matter how good/bad you are, you will get ~50% win rate at some point. You won't win more when you get a higher MMR. Quite the opposite, it requires more effort to keep up with your current winrate. (with some exceptions like low total player count or pro gamer skill level). When you climb the ladder, you have to learn meta build orders and strats which you won't necessarily like. Or you can ignore it and stay at your current MMR. There's no simple answer in my opinion. If you enjoy competitive gameplay, improving your skill level, higher MMR meta, or just big numbers you might consider going the obvious road of MMR climbing. If you enjoy chill and unpredictable games, creativity, or thinking more, you may like playing without looking up build orders/strategies. I had ~4000 SC2 MMR with meta builds. I played a macro Terran with some cheese strats (~33% of games). The game quickly became boring and repetitive, despite the MMR climb. Before I looked up the strats I had ~3000 MMR and I could play ANYTHING. Like I could mass almost any Terran unit within a certain timing and win. Creating dumb strategies and executing them was insanely fun. My advice for newbie players is: "Don't copy pro players' build orders right at the start. Decide for yourself what is better for you first. Playing bad is sometimes a lot more fun than playing good."
