Watching Cutscenes in TLOU Remake Saves Time

There was a big patch shortly after this video was made and it changed the speedrun mode timer. It no longer counts out 1 second when you restart checkpoint and skip cutscenes. The timer is basically always paused whenever the screen is black. However there are still some cutscenes shown in this video that we watch because it still saves time. 1. The cutscene in downtown that introduces clickers (6:53). 2. The cutscene at the end of museum where Tess gets bitten (8:06). 3. The cutscene in searchlight where Henry abandons you (8:45). 4. The cutscene in science lab with the dead body (9:21). 5. The cutscene in Winter when Joel wakes up (10:28). Every other example shown in the video not included above here can be skipped without losing any time. As well as every other cutscene in the game.

Not really in this case, this is a strat only for the remake of the Last of Us.

Couldn't you make it a rule that no one was allowed to watch the cutscenes in a run? Yeah, everyone's IGTs would be a bit higher, but it would be fair and wouldn't force unskipable cutscenes on everyone wanting a shot at WR

This discovery happened kinda late into the game's life and there were already some submissions that didn't skip a cutscene or two. Specifically the shorter ones that are like 12 or 15 seconds long. Also it would suck if a first time runner didn't recognize one of the shorter cutscenes in time and we had to reject because of that.

Because then the run takes longer and doesn't effect the run time.

​@@ETG715 because skipping some scenes causes a loading screen, that loading screen makes it so that the timer starts before you can move Joel
