Your reaction really made me smile! I've been a fan of Erasure since I was a teenager and finally got to see them live in London a couple of weeks ago at the end of their Neon Tour. All of these songs were on the set list. Everyone singing along. Two hours of pure joy. They'll be touring the US at the start of next year.

I can still remember Sometimes playing on MTV and stopping what I was doing and just watching in amazement. Sometimes was the first love song I had ever heard that was speaking to me as a closeted gay teen. It made everything seem okay for a moment. The Wild tour in 1988 was one of my first concerts ever. I drove to Chicago in my beat up Monte Carlo and danced with thousand of other sweaty teens as Andy came On Stage in backless chaps with an Astronauts helmet on and glitter confetti falling from the ceiling. I still have my poster from that show. They were and are simply magical live.

O'lamour is my absolute favorite. Let me tell you, way back in the 90s when I was a young woman, they played at a festival in Chicago. I had lawn seats and the area was a little hilly, so the venue had 20' x20' concrete slabs at the bottom of each hill. Erasure came on and each of those slabs became an impromptu dance floor. I had the BEST time dancing with strangers. Everyone was so happy. I've been countless concerts at this point, but that one is always in my top 5. The sheer joy in that place has yet to be beaten by any other show I've seen

Erasure are just pure pop perfection. I sorely miss this style of pop so dramatic, energetic, unexpected and just joyous. I loved how subtle yet unapologetic they were, for pop songs they sure had some stuff to say lyrically that can be easily missed because it's wrapped up in a pop sound. It's groups like Erasure that I tell people about when they diss pop music. Pop music is always fabulous and fun but can also have many more layers and thought put into it than some people like to give it credit for.

Yes... I am browsing through your old videos dear PancakeMarshmallowDude. I love Erasure so much. Memories of seeing them live back in the early 90s... ahh. They were really a big deal if you grew up in the 80s and 90s and weren't really sure of who you were yet. Andy being Andy just amazing vocals and completely free about himself. I also love how Vince evolved after leaving Depeche Mode. First Yazoo then Erasure, but always perfect pop music.

I don’t know how old you are but you must be young if you didn’t know that Andy and Vince are the King and King of dance pop. If you did you wouldn’t have kept being fooled by the melodic and ethereal intros to a tight 3 minutes synth-pop masterpiece. And that’s what almost all of their songs are. There’s a reason they had a compilation album is called ”Pop! The First 20 Hits”. Not only are hey staking claim that their music is the reference for the pop genre, but also that they new there would be more that 20 hits in their catalog. This comp came out in 1992 after their first 5 albums. Imagine having 20 certified chart topping hits in that time and that’s only counting the bit hit singles, they had other hits that were album cuts only and some that weren’t as high up the charts, but high enough that any band would consider them hits if they made them. They did go on to release another installment of the comp titled “Pop2! The Second 20 Hits”. And this was in an era when it wasn’t some studio producer programming the music and then having some kid with a good voice sing songs he didn’t write. Andy and Vince did it all, they are like the Jagger and Richards of 80 synth-pop. They didn’t get as much love in the states, even though they were popular, but in UK they were pretty big. Just get the first Pop! comp album you won’t regret it..

Erasure always made good songs, always catchy with creative videos. I was lucky enough to meet Andy Bell many years ago at a club in Manchester, and he was a thoroughly decent guy, not starry in any way, we chatted pretty much all night and he never mentioned himself, Erasure or their music once, he was more interested in talking about other people's music. I definitely remember we had a long conversation about George Michael, GM's Too Funky video had just aired on Channel 4 that night and Andy was a big fan of George and particularly admired George's songwriting. I got a new respect for Andy and Erasure that night.

I have been a fan of Erasure since the 80's, Sometimes is my favorite song by them. Fun fact about this video, they were all set to start filming and it started to rain. They had to bring the instruments and props inside, they waited for awhile for the rain to stop but Andy said he liked the rain so he improvised with the sheets, that way the other stuff didn't get ruined.

Chorus came out my senior year in high school. My girlfriend had shown me their music and i was a big fan of that synth pop style (New Order, Depeche Mode, etc), so i was instantly a big fan. Anyhow, i had a really good friend that was struggling with things in his life, and i played him Erasure & he was an instant fan. About a year later, he came out & told me that i helped him by introducing Erasure to him. The music gave him the courage he was searching for to make that step in his life :)

I never got to see them in concert, but the have filmed several which I watched here on KZbin. I think the tour was The Swan, The Tank, and the...I forgot, don't even know if the order is correct, but that was amazing. I live to sing these in the car very loudly. Edit: I am fairly certain you know Vince Clarke was behind a few of the New Wave bands. Depeche Mode he did the first album, he was behind Yaz/Yazoo, I think more but forget them, he is a musical genius. Something else super fun is their covers of ABBA songs, and the videos for those are amazing.

When someone reacts to erasure I always think sometimes is the one they'll react to first! I'm glad you got round to it.the second video with the beach in that blue effect is the same effect that was on David Bowie's ashes to ashes song which is brill and you should react to! It came out before this and he was also on a beach I wonder if it was the same beach? And if it had the same creators?
