14:46 I’m pretty sure Chandler was upset when he saw Monica gambling because he had been upstairs moping over their fight and Phoebe had said Monica was coming to talk to him yet instead of that he finds her seemingly having fun without a care in the world with a group of complete strangers. It perhaps gave off the vibe that Monica didn’t care about reconciling with him or care much about him period if she would choose to gamble instead of focusing on their relationship.

I always saw Chandler see Monica having fun as he was told that she was going up there to apologize and he walked past her having fun indicating to him that she would rather have fun gambling, then go up and apologize for not even apologize just to go up and try and talk it out so from his perspective, she forgot about him in the moment. Yeah around this time Phoebe started to get meaner, especially to Chandler. I think what happened was that Pregnant Phoebe with her mean attitude was a hit with audiences, so the writers kept that for the character moving forward. She still has a lot of sweet and wonderful moments with all the other characters (including Chandler). It's just a very noticeable change for her character.

Although the whole On again, off again Ross-Rachel thing takes a major backseat role and a plot can kicked way, way down the intersection of character development road and will they, won't they lane for future cast and crew's neglected major issue elephant in the room to deal with, but still way far and away before that's addressed. But what we get is the unbeatable super team up of Ross-Rachel, the two pettiest, bring out the worst in each other, quite possibly most mainstream unhealthy toxic unstable couple in modern sitcom television history. But these two unhinged compulsive disorder to roast battle each other and keep score at the smallest infractions and imagined slights or non-existant make believe disrespectful perceived tug of war tit for tat burns or mic drop caps between Green and Gellar post-break-up is arguably them at their most whacked, morbid, dark comedy best. They are roast master human diss tracks comedy gold at this point in the show's run and inside their always in flux relationship dynamic that's forever shifting like the Earth's plates at its fault line and volcanic core, seemingly false alarms as well as the endless power balance swings back and forth, see-sawing, push-pull, up and down, soap opera drama, reality show snuff film that is these two active volatile tinderbox, powder keg of nature always threatening to finally errupt and just massively blow into an almost nuclear sized level explosion that is the time bomb H-Bomb atomic level threat always present when they're in the same room together, the near-constant game of hot potatoing the blame and accountability shift into the other's lap, all to maintain some sub-atomic sized level sense of power and winning!

Fun fact: Chandler was supposed to CHEAT ON MONICA in these episodes, they would have a big fight and he would sleep with some lady from that hotel coz he would be sad depressed and stuff, (in the same day of their anniversary.... Hmmm this sounds familiar) but when Matthew Perry read the script he refused to do it and made them change it, coz for him Chandler would never do that to monica, and ppl would hate his character, Thank God he refused it, ....ngl David should've done the same thing with Ross about the Whole "We were on a break" thing (u know where Ross slept with another lady in the anniversary day of him and Rachel) but we wouldn't have the iconic "We were on a break!!!" Line and Ross and Rachel fights throughout season 3 and 4

They had some speed bumps and hurdles to overcome, but nothing that would cause a break up. It's nice to have that contrast to Ross and Rachel instead of mirroring them.

Personally, I’m not completely mad at Phoebe for exposing Monica’s lunch with Richard, because it wasn’t intentional. Also, it’s something Monica should’ve told Chandler about in the first place, but she wasn’t going to (especially since she was already planning to meet Richard again). I don’t really understand why she’d want to meet him at all. That’s just my perspective. I also agree with everyone in the comments that Phoebe is mean to Chandler more than anyone else, and I don’t get why. Anyways, great reaction! I can’t wait for the season finale 💗💗💗

I think it's so funny that people take the running joke of phoebe not liking chandler so seriously and claim she's sooooo mean to him as if chandler's whole personality for the first half of the show (when he was actually funny) was making fun of his friends. to the point they had to challenge him to give it up for a new years resolution and he couldn't even last a week. he was constantly making jokes about joey being dumb or phoebe being weird but i guess that's okay but phoebe is the worst because she made some digs as a running gag anyway, if monica didn't want chandler to find out about her lunch with richard in such a way, she should have told him

lol guys, this is a sitcom - a situational comedy. The main purpose of it in the 90s was the jokes! They sometimes improvised on camera, and sometimes they wrote them right on set, just to try out the live audience's reaction to them. It's a 90s sitcom, it was driven by the jokes, not by the plot.

That is fine if it's the main purpose. When there are moments that are funny to them and the jokes do land they laugh. Which is quite frequent if you watch the whole reaction. When they are invested in the plot and take that seriously, that is also their choice. That is how they choose to watch this show, just because it isn't the purpose doesn't mean it cannot be interpreted differently by someone else. Also if you are talking about the end of the episode, if you follow the music and how it fades to black, the ending of the plot is meant to be taken seriously by the show's standards. That ending moment is not played for comedy or jokes, there is no audience laughter at all.

But I think you are confusing frustration from confusion, they may look frustrated, but as someone who has watched Nick for 4 years, he is confused. So just because they do not understand a joke I do not think that is anything for us to criticize them about. They can't change how they view a situation or characters, it's different for all of us. They rarely get mad at a joke, one of them being the apartment switch back. But overall most jokes they just don't understand.

Chandler walking off moping after being butt hurt Monica seemingly not having a care in the world including Chandler is really half-assed and cheap, as it makes Chandler look just petty and emotionally immature. However, there is a reason for this. It's something that happened behind the scenes that forced the cast and showrunners to pivot from what they had planned to do as their season ending cliffhanger and 11th hour pivot to rewite on the fly a complete change of course. No spoilers till tomorrow's content where the about-face plot turn gets addressed and Vegas storyline wrapped up. See ya then.

Later on though, she was just mean and used her past as an excuse to be more mean. Outside of the humor aspect, the amount of times she was putting down Chandler made me question if she was jealous of him and Monica's relationship. Just because they were so happy and her relationships never lasted.
