Yeah, that was hard to watch knowing what was coming and how all his favourite characters were going to die. I loved Dobby's character but Snape ended up my favourite because it's such a deep and complex character. It made the movies for me. You don't know what bothers you about him and you realise how it's actually, in the end, his love for Lily and how it changes his life is behind all the things you end up not liking about him and in the end it's why you appreciate him. Could be one of the greatest characters of any book I've read.

The movies did Ginny soooo dirty. In the books, Ginny wasn’t a huge character, but she was quite fleshed out. She was the fun, spunky tomboy that was almost as talented In quidditch as Harry was. She had a crush on him, but didn’t obsess over it and dated other guys. She also was one of the few to call out Harry on his emo bullshit. In the movies: she exists

In the books there's a little bit of redemption for Draco. He does lower his wand, never actually planning on killing Dumbledore and when Harry, Hermione, and Ron are taken to to Malfoy Manor he does lie and say that he "can't be sure" if Harry is Harry, even though he clearly does. Also at the battle, he ends up throwing Harry his wand so Harry can duel Voldemort. Also as for Ginny, the movie adaptation of her is horrible. Her relationship with Harry is so much better in the books and she's just a badass character on her own. She's actually really good at magic and charms and isn't afraid to mess some people up (she particularly likes to hex people so that bats fly out of their noses) and she can take care of herself, often standing up to Ron and even Harry when he underestimates her. Also in the books the kiss was way better as it took place after a Quittich match which Ginny had pretty much won for the team and Harry ends up kissing her at the afterparty (really similar to the Ron and Lavender situation from the films). Another thing from the books that doesn't get fully explained in the films is that Neville's parents aren't actually dead. Bellatrix never killed them, rather just used the curciatis curse on them until they went insane. They now live in a wizarding asylum. There's actually this heartbreaking scene from the books where the Trio see's Neville there visiting them with his Grandma. His mom always gives him these candy wrappers and he keeps all of them even though his grandma tells him not too. Also as for everyone's ending, Hermione becomes Minister of Magic, Harry and Ron are Aurors, and Neville is the new herbology professor while McGonnagal is Head Master of the school.

The part where Draco throws his wand to Harry isn't in the books. It's a deleted scene in the movie. Also Draco lying about how he can't be sure it was Harry was in the movie as well.

You can see a lot more of Draco's character arch in the books. For one thing, it explains that Voldemort was actually STAYING at Malfoy Manor after the fourth book, so it wasn't like Draco had an option. He had to become a Death Eater and do whatever Voldemort wanted because he literally couldn't escape. But yeah

Hermione is definitely more resourceful with magic and can do a lot of intricate spells, etc. but Harry has always been a more powerful wizard. I'd say Hermione is more skilled whereas Harry has a larger vat of magic.

more so harry is better suited to using spells that don't require finesse. a great example is the disarming spell, someone with finesse, like dumbledore can use the disarming spell so precisely that all it does is make your wand fly out of your hand and into his. when used without finesse (like when the user is unskilled like harry, or particularly enraged) the outcome is different, but not really more powerful as dumbledore is just as capable of knocking a fool to the ground if he so desired.

I agree with this actually. Hermione was very book smart, but when it came to tactical, practical magic, Harry had her beat. The movies don’t really go into it like the books do, but it’s a hugely impressive thing that Harry can conjure up a patronus. That is very advanced skilled magic that he learned when he was 13 years old. Even many grown wizards can’t do that magic. On top of that it is not to be under played how many times he has escaped Voldemort. Yes, a lot of that could have been attributed to luck but on his feet Harry is a quick thinker, and he employs the magic that he has, and that’s what makes him a very prodigious wizard.

Same. When he died it happened so quickly that you couldn’t even really process it, especially because the scene just carried on. Once they got back and the music started playing and Harry was holding him and crying is when it started to hit me because you could feel everything about to change. The book is covering Malfoys development bit better, but jk still missed a chance here. Same. I had only heard about of the love triangle thing when I was young, but since I had never watched the movies I didn't know what to think of it. This was the first time I watched the entire series and Ron and Hernione, and Harry and Ginny were pretty obvious set as couples. Personally speaking, I didn't ship any of these characters because their chemistry sucked but it was still pretty obvious that the author intended for these characters to end up at EoS.

@@loiccooper5375 Essentially the blood inside Harry carried his mother's love which is what stopped Harry from originally dying from the killing curse. Because Voldermort now had Harry's blood in him the charm continued to work and so as long as Voldermort was alive, Harry could not die.

Oh and this is the perfect time to tell this story. I was at a uni nightclub, it was fancy dress. My housemate went as a death eater, we arrive and see someone else none of us know dressed as voldemort. My housemate is like "OMG IT'S VOLDEMORT" The guy turns around and when the music cuts out says "Harry potter is dead" super loud. To which my housemate cheered. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.

`1. It was Professor Quirell who was drinking the unicorn’s blood. Voldemort was too weak to have his own body that's why he had to live on Quirell. So when everyone came, Quirell had to run off, to hide his identity. 2. Harry wasn’t the one in the Philosopher’s stone who got past the Devil Snar. It was only Hermione, and then Hermione was tensed about how to free Ron and Harry, so harry reminds her, a part of the lesson that Professor Sprout taught about the Snar. Then Hermione again started worrying about how to bring light, where Ron reminded her that she’s a witch and can use her wand. So there was the contribution of all 3 in the task of Devil Snar. 3. In the chess task, in Philosopher’s stone, all three of them (Ron, Harry, and Hermione) stood on their own. I have no idea why the movies showed that Ron was sitting on the knight and just shouts when he fell. In books, Ron was the one who got stabbed and fell. 4. Movie Snape was much better than books. 5. Harry's Hermione's first friend and Best Friend. The movies have an obsessive desire to make Ron a comic relief and just a person like Peter Pettigrew was in the Mauraders. Ron's intelligent and sometimes outscored Harry in exams. RON IS LOVE!

The reason Harry teaches everyone DADA in Order of the Phoenix is because while Hermione is more intelligent in a book smart way, she isn't able to think on her feet in the same way as Harry. Hermione would be great at teaching something like charms or transfiguration, but Harry understands what it's like to be in life or death situation in a way Hermione doesn't, and that's essential for the kind of DADA he's trying to teach. Harry knows what it's like to believe you're going to die, and knows what it's like to watch a good friend die without being able to do anything, and actually has a little bit of post traumatic stress when he has nightmares of watching Cedric die. He just gets it.

Like how they both had an unhappy upbringing and the way that they are both outcasts (at least sort of, in Harry's case, like the way lots of people treat him in 5th book). Sirius was the one that Harry could most relate to.

You probably already know the answer by now but yes the actors for Dumbledor changed. The original actor died. I think there was also something like 7+ actors for Voldemort :) Quidditch matches go until the Golden Snitch is caught, always. Lupin ended up getting turned into a werewolf by a blood infection so his friends learned how to become an animagus to make Lupin feel more at ease. Since werewolves couldn't control themselves around humans, Lupin's friends were safer around him in their animal forms during this time. So during the full moons at Hogwarts they would hang out in the Shrieking Shack. The 4th movie (Goblet of Fire): Fleur is part Veela. Veela are magical creatures that look semi human that have a hypnotic look and dance. Probably that weird vibe you got from the intro for the Women's Wizarding school (Beauxbatons Academy of Magic). After the final battle with Voldemort, Umbridge was convicted and given a life sentence to Azkaban for her crimes against Muggle-borns. Neville's parents are alive but not really functioning thanks to Bellatrix. They are in a Wizarding Hospital.
