Fun facts: There are 15 flashes of the Devil throughout the film according to the Director Osgood Perkins. He also wrote/directed The Blackcoat's Daughter with Carrie Ann Camera(Sabrina from Netflix). Osgood Perkins, son of Anthony Perkins(Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Crimes of Passion) also acted as David Kidney in Legally Blonde and has an upcoming film in 2025 called The Monkey. Longlegs is part crime procedural(Zodiac, Seven, The Silence of the Lambs) mixed with the supernatural. I think the Devil flashes were inspired by The Exorcist which you see Demon Pazuzu flashed a few times in the film. The evil ball in the dolls may be a throwback to the 1970s film Phantasm. Nicholas Cage said he got a few of his weird affectations from his mom who had a mental illness. Osgood Perkins wrote the screenplay in part using his life since the essence of the film was family secrets using "to protect from a harm" Osgood's parents kept from him and his brother Elvis his dad's bisexuality even though they knew it. The mother in Longlegs was inspired by his mom for weaving secrets. Sadly his mom died on September 11, 2001 during the terrorists attacks at 53. The POTUS Bill Clinton in the back shows the time period of LONGLEGS was the 1990s. Did you notice that during the psychic test when Lee Harker(last name also shared with Johnathan and Mina from Dracula) and Agent Browning(Director Tod Browning perhaps?) much like horror homage names in the first Final Destination films. Harker answered "Father" to the upside down triangle which was Satanic? In a small cameo, the young teen at the convenience store is the daughter of Osgood Perkins which makes it creepier. And you'll be there(Agent Browning); And you'll be there(Agent Carter) and you'll be there(Lee Harker who the Devil talked to on the phone) If you have never seen it, I HIGHLY recommend When Evil Lurks.

The director and Cage decided on a bit of backstory for Cobble/Longlegs that is only hinted at in the film; yes he did undergo plastic surgery that went wrong with visible scarring, like his glam rock idols to look young. He also applies white make up to his face inspired by 60s and 70s rock stars performing on stage. Cage came up with the voice inspired by his own mothers voice. 😉

You were so into the film as much as I was. 🙂And I've read somewhere that he does the "Cuckoo" because he puts wrong eggs into the "house" so to speak. That's what the birds do aswell. He does it with the dolls. It's really dark, the more you think about it. That he does all that at the day of their birthdays (more or less), when it should be the happiest day.

I think I would have liked it a bit more if she was able to perhaps save the last family, Perhaps start saying her prayers and perhaps it would wake up the Agent before he killed is wife or at least made him struggle with the possession he was experiencing. I guess it was more of a bleak sort of world but over all I enjoyed the story. Think I also would have liked it if they explained a bit more of the magic used in the dolls and the metal orbs, I know there are a lot of resources online but would have been nice to put into the film itself.

Next to be Annabelle Creation?
