my understanding of it (which could be flawed, I only watched it once fully) was that you can be an accomplice to the devil in this particular scheme of soul snatching, in exchange for protecting a family member (thus, if you decide not to go along with killing them all like the devil wants once he enters the house, the alternative is to become an accomplice to help wreck other families). So that's what her mom did in order to protect her. And yeah I guess the surviving ones get in some weird state of faulty memory somehow connected to the doll. Longlegs was a human who was working for the devil. Anyway, the implication at the end (to me anyway) is that Lee was going to be like her mom...she stopped the family annihilation in order to protect the kid, so now she was going to have to be the accomplice to fulfill that end of the bargain (like her mom). Hence the 'hail Satan' victory at the end, the cycle continues... But Idk haha

Overhyped fs but still pretty damn good. When I say the way the cinematography made me feel uncomfortable for the first two acts of the movie making me think something was about to happen was my favorite part about this movie. That underlying tension like it was at its best during Lee’s house when Longlegs appears to be inside her house. That whole time I was looking away.

This movie has so much subtlety that I keep noticing that people miss. If you give this movie a rewatch its even better imo. There is so much great camera work that alone can tell part of the story and little "easter eggs" of such that are great to notice in dialogue or imagery. Lots of repetition of the number 3 to give just one example.

I didn't understand the whole movie, I didn't think it was going to be paranormal or supernatural. For me, if you have to look for the hidden meanings in the movie, is a chop.
