There was originally supposed to be a fourth installment in May 2018, but DreamWorks removed it from their schedule back when they went into corporate restructuring. Hopefully it gets revived because we should see the characters faces one last time.

@@poochyenajones1362 Yeah it doesn't need another movie. As much as I miss the franchise a lot, it ended on a good note and even had a spin-off movie with the Penguins. A trilogy is the best way it could've gone out and they did stellar on the movie too, all three movies were spectacular. Might as well keep the high-note where it is instead of risking losing that good and well done ending.

Alex's father wasn't shown in the movie for the sole reason his voice actor died before they could start production and recording on the movie. So they didn't bother to show him or the mother in this 3rd one. Saves them trouble during development and having him be silent so awkwardly.

When Alex says “The Colosseum Marty! You know my ancestors use to perform here?” Is the funniest line in this movie. And I remember when they’d play commercials for promo for this way back in the days before 2014, it was always Marty dressed up in the “circus look” and going “dun dun da dam dun dun circus da dum dam da dun Afro!” And everyone, I mean EVERYONE, would sing that line for weeks before the movie and months after it premiered.

Ok a couple things: 1: I actually went to the local zoo today, so this was a coinicidental treat to come home to! 2: As insanely smart as Dubois is, the fact that she, a highly trained animal control officer, didn't see through the chimp's obvious disguise is kind of hilarious. And 3: That car chase is my favorite scene in the entire franchise. Every single joke is gold!

I think all of your criticisms of the movie are very valid. I love this movie, but it's definitely WAY out there, even in comparison to the first two. I think for me, I just LOVE the visuals. I loved the big circus act at the end, I love seeing how far the animation has come, how well the fur is rendered etc. I loved Gia (I believe she's a Jaguar? Maybe Leopard?). Anyway, I think all of this is the reason I don't see many of the flaws with it; it's just such a fun ride. And like you said, the villain was super fun too. One of the more artistic things I enjoyed in this movie was when they showed the Zoo animals in caged enclosures after Dubois captured them. If you think back to the first movie, the zoo was super colorful and the animals loved it, but in this one the lighting in the scene is very dull and the color pallet is washed out to drive home that they don't belong there anymore. It's more like a prison now. I think it was well done. So glad you saw the series through and got a laugh out of it!

Sadly, the third movie isn’t as the best as the second one in my humble opinion, but there is a lot of laughter that you will feel throughout the movie and I am so sad the Madagascar trilogy has to come to the end! The reason why they couldn't continue on where the second one left off is because the voice actor of Zuba, Alex's Dad, had passed away. I would've loved to see that too because I fell in love with Alex story and was interested in seeing what else they could've done with it. But I think this one was entertaining and had great new characters. So glad you enjoyed the franchise, I recommend watching the Penguins of Madagascar, it's pretty funny.

For me, the first Madagascar was a fun time. Definitely worth a couple watches over time. The second one...I honestly felt disappointed with how the story was approached and I think I've only seen it once. The third movie was a very pleasant surprise of a film for me. Sure, it's not the best movie, but it definitely seems like the creators learned from the sequel to make a better threequel.

I just realized the deeper meaning of the ending: In the first film, King Julian said they had “dead humans” and you could see them hanging. Now Dubois and the rest of the cops are heading to Madagascar, not only because Alex, Melman, Marty, and Gloria started off that way, but because the animals there are going to eat them to death!

Awesome reaction, Nick! I will say that I loved the first film for the comedic lines, and how it was a family version of the difficulties of life, and getting out of your comfort zone. Still, I loved the second, and third films better because, well, I liked how Melman, and Gloria got together in the second film, Alex met his family, and how there was more depth to the characters in the second one overall. As for the third film, I loved the new characters, and how the four main animal characters realized how much they were living life when outside the zoo, and that it was the best thing that could have happened to them. Oh, how could you not love Alex, and Gia as a couple. Oh, and I loved the character arcs for the newer characters. And man, Dubois was a great villain. Finally, how could you not love the dance sequence with the colored visuals, and “Firework” playing as a montage? Well, great job yet again!

Easily my favorite of the Madagascar films. It's really funny, I enjoy the arcs between the characters, the new characters are a lot of fun, the animation was surprisingly fantastic, at least compared to the previous two films, and the villain was amazing. The only complaint I had, was like you said, they kinda treat the second film like it didn't happen. At least when it comes to Alex's parents and all the stuff that went down. But it doesn't hurt the film too much. Solid 8/10.

Personally I lovedddd this movie , it felt fresh and the trapeze scenes , king Julian & the bear scenes, & the villainess singing scene were my favorite parts ✨
