This film is so sad and beautiful. The writing, acting, directing, cinematography, lighting--all so amazing. I love how subtle and quiet it is, matching Chiron's personality. The first time this film made me lose it was when teen Chiron breaks down after getting beaten up--so horrible what he had to go through. Then I lost it again later in the final scenes. It was such a courageous thing for Chiron to drive to Atlanta and meet up with Kevin. And that final scene--it gets me every time..."You're the only man that's ever touched me....you're the only one." You can really feel the longing and sadness in those words. And those words were not easy for him to say. Poor Chiron has never had the love he needs and deserves, never a kind, loving touch. And then the gentleness of the final shot of the two of them with Chiron's head on Kevin's shoulder, and that caress...such a perfect way to end it. All the acting was amazing, but Trevante Rhodes as adult Chiron gave such a stunning, subtle, powerful performance. Thanks for reacting to this! Would love to see more gay movie reactions from you.
