Everything the Predator does is just an alien version of what human hunters do: using calls to lure prey, camouflage, skinning, taking trophies, etc. The original title of the screenplay was actually “Hunter”! Also, the reason it doesn’t kill Arnold right away near the end is because it recognizes him as a more worthy prey and wants to make it more challenging or fair since Arnold is unarmed by then also. The Predator has a code of honor regarding the hunt.
@sean9115
@sean9115 3 жыл бұрын
Hard to disagree but while you say predator has a code humans don't well hunters don't and they never will. It gets me that all these people who have so much money want to travel around the world and kill a lion or tiger or whatever it maybe the person who just wants to kill things they need to be just removed from the world.

@@PodreyJenkin138 Big game hunting is NOT done on old and sick animals in all cases. Maybe in the canned hunts but not all of them. They are run to put money in the preserve owners pocket and do little but show the local population that the animals have a high dollar worth in foreign lands. This makes poaching far more likely. As for former poachers being hired that more due to military groups running security for the animals. They were executing poachers in the field. There is even a group of US Vets that goes over to Africa to train these teams and run some of the missions. Britain has also been sending special forces to Africa to train these teams. Poachers quite because they were being hunted by people with high tech and superior skills.

When Dillon lost his arm & it fell to the ground & the gun kept shooting, that gun is an automatic weapon. You don't at all need to pull the trigger for every single shot. You just keep it pulled & round after round keeps firing until you either let the trigger go or run out of ammo. The finger was still locked on the trigger when the arm came off & it took several seconds for it to release, that's how hard he squeezed the trigger before the arm came off. This is why it keeps firing even after falling to the ground. That's how automatic weapons work.

The Predator race aren't just killing for the fun of it. They are a hunter/warrior culture. They search the galaxy for the best warrior to test themselves against. It's also a way for younger predators to come of age. Taking trophies in the form of skulls and spines is a way of gaining status back on their home world. Their superior technology usually helps them come out on top, but when they encounter a worthy opponent they respect they will occasionally fight hand to hand. In their culture, defeating a worthy opponent hand to hand brings them the most honor. There's actually quite a complex backstory in comics, some of which is uncovered in other movies and stories. Great reaction by the way! And your hair is absolutely on point!

How could anyone hate Predator 2? It's a classic! The City Hunter was awesome, the expansion to the lore, the extra Predator gadgets like the smart disc, the net gun, the combi-stick, and showing it's helmet can switch between more vision modes than just infrared, the revelation of the Lost tribe at the end with all the other Predators, the Alien trophy skull, plus the humans were cast well, crazy Gary Busey as an X- Files type anti-hero, Harrigan as the Die Hard style 'just a regular guy' tough cop, and Bill Paxton (R.I.P.) is always great. The city environment is artistically well done as well. And the movie was dark and gritty with plenty of gore and violence and good stunts. It think it's just as good as the first film.

The Predator (or Yautja, as his race is often called) is an intergalactic warrior and trophy hunter. His kind travel throughout the galaxy, hunting the most dangerous game to prove their mettle as warriors and hunters. And Earth has had no shortage of magnificent warriors to test their skills against, so they've been coming to Earth for a very long while. If you look deeper into their lore, you'll find that the Yautja have been visiting Earth since at least the time of the Crusades, perhaps even earlier. Normally they only skin their defeated opponents, but if their defeated opponent gave them a really good hunt and a good fight (especially if they chose to fight with honor, i.e. hand-to-hand melee combat), a Predator will actually "honor" their opponent by ripping out their skull and spinal column.

Very good your reaction. But I am going to make you a correction. If a limb of the body is cut suddenly while the muscles and tendons were strained, then they keep strained. For that reason, Dillon's arm was left with the trigger of the machine gun pressed, and since this is automatic, so it continued firing alone.

The scene where Dillon's arm gets shot off... he's firing an automatic weapon. That's the reasoning behind it continuing to fire. It's still not likely to keep shooting but I guess if his grip was tight enough and the arm and gun landed just right, it might still fire

Not true on the shooting after losing the arm. Many times after dismemberment or even death muscles contract rather than relax, so the weapon continuing to fire after the arm was severed is not really strange at all. He was squeezing the trigger very hard due to adrenaline so it simply locked that way.

Several years ago I took a cruise to Mexico, Puerto Vallarta. One of the excursions was a hike in the same place where this movie was shot. It was so hot and humid we really had a hard time making through. I remember at one point I was thinking to myself as I looked around, "when I collapse how the hell are they going to get me out if here" Watching this movie just lets me know how in shape Schwarzenegger was.

21:07 that's not necessarily true. Though normally you would be right. There are times when people have especially forced grip on something before they died that it stays after death. what happens is because they put more then required grip that the muscles become oxygen depraved and cause a muscle cramp condition that leaves the muscles in contracted position.
