This is my second favorite Seinfeld episode of all time! The first one is The Marine Biologist. I love how this episode really shows Jerry’s love for Superman. From the original 1978 Superman movie theme music, to Jerry, wearing red and blue throughout the episode, a character named Lois and the whole arch enemy nemesis thing going on, this episode is hilarious! And even George gets to live out his dream of being an architect, by throwing out that lie out there. Hey, in The Marine Biologist, he got to be a marine biologist, so that funny trend of lying about what you do for work is a continuing theme for George in this episode. I think you guys should see the whole series in its entirety. I think you’ll enjoy it so much more and get all the different Easter eggs in the future episodes.

The whole "Blacklist" joke was referencing the McCarthy era in the 1950s (The start of the Cold War between the US & USSR). Joseph McCarthy would hold Senate committee hearings to weed-out left leaning high profile figures he suspected of being communist, these people would be forced by law to attend the hearings and admit publicly if they were communist or not and to "Name Names" (Other individuals they know who are secretly communist too). Whether you were communist or not, if you were named in this committee hearing you were put on a List (Blacklisted) and shunned out of public life and keeping your job. Many Actors, Producers, Directors and Writers in Hollywood got Blacklisted (Never to work again). Its a pretty dark period in history to make a joke about but its Seinfeld and 40yrs later lol. Sorry for the long winded comment.
