Jason Alexander, the actor who plays George, got thousands of letters after this episode aired, of people who took this advice literally. People quit their jobs, got divorced, took actions they were previously afraid to take, based upon this episode's premise. "If every instinct you've had is wrong, then the opposite must be correct". In some cases with remarkable success.
