Terminator 2: Judgment Day[a] is a 1991 American science fiction action film directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the script with William Wisher. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick, it is the sequel to The Terminator (1984) and is the second installment in the Terminator franchise. In the film, the malevolent artificial intelligence Skynet sends a Terminator-a highly advanced killing machine-back in time to 1995 to kill the future leader of the human resistance John Connor when he is a child. The resistance sends back a less advanced, reprogrammed Terminator to protect Connor and ensure the future of humanity.
The Terminator was considered a significant success, enhancing Schwarzenegger's and Cameron's careers, but work on a sequel stalled because of animosity between the pair and Hemdale Film Corporation, which partially owned the film's rights. In 1990, Schwarzenegger and Cameron persuaded Carolco Pictures to purchase the rights from The Terminator producer Gale Anne Hurd and Hemdale, which was financially struggling. A release date was set for the following year, leaving Cameron and Wisher seven weeks to write the script. Principal photography lasted from October 1990 to March 1991, taking place in and around Los Angeles on an estimated $94-102 million budget, making it the most expensive film made at the time. The advanced visual effects by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), which include the first use of a computer-generated main character in a blockbuster film, resulted in a schedule overrun. Theatrical prints were not delivered to theaters until the night before the picture's release on July 3, 1991.
Terminator 2 was a critical and commercial success, grossing $519-520.9 million at the box office to become the highest-grossing film of 1991 worldwide and the third-highest-grossing film of its time. The film won several accolades, including Saturn, BAFTA, and Academy awards. Terminator 2 merchandise includes video games, comic books, novels, and T2-3D: Battle Across Time, a live-action attraction.
Terminator 2 is considered one of the best science fiction, action, and sequel films ever made. It is also seen as a major influence on visual effects in films, helping usher in the transition from practical effects to reliance on computer-generated imagery. The United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2023. Although Cameron intended for Terminator 2 to be the end of the franchise, it was followed by a series of sequels, including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), as well as a 2008 television series.

1. Linda Hamilton should have been at least an Acadamy Award for best actress. 🤩 2. My guess is that stove is hot🧐 3. We have limited AI now, so does China.😱😱 4. Arnold did many, but not all of his own stunts in this movie, including riding the motorcycle. At one point he was injured, and they had to stop production for a couple of weeks so he could recover. 5. Arnold is not left-handed, but the way he works that shotgun is impressive 6. The twin security guards also play in "Good Morning Vietnam". 7. GOOF: Enrique's dogs don't respond to "Uncle Bob" as a Terminator. 8. "I need a vacation" was ad lib. 9. This is the action movie GOAT.🤩

that's been one of my favorite things about all the reactors doing the franchise, most of them aren't old enough to have been spoiled by that f*cking b.s. trailer and marketing campaign at the time that ruined the twist for everybody back then. I'm still annoyed they did Cameron dirty like that.

I’ve noticed that you watched the “Extended Special Edition”, which has the alternate ending. The Theatrical ending shows John and Sarah Connor driving on a dark road, leaving the feet of the future unanswered. However, since you watched this version, you technically don’t have to watch the rest of the series now.

I just have to say, it was amazing seeing someone watch this movie who hadn't been spoiled about the reversal of Arnold's role from the original. The movie was made so that this would be a surprise reveal as it was for you, but the trailer spoiled it, so pretty much everyone already knew it going in. I personally found all the movies after this one disappointing, but some people seem to enjoy them. This one, though, is a true classic, and I think it holds up even three decades later.

The only problem I have with this film, which I'm glad that kept the original ending that left us with unanswered question about the future, is idea of stopping Judgement Day. Destroying Cyberdyne isn't going to prevent something that has/is going to happen. The echos of the future (T800 from the first Terminator) has already left its mark of destruction in 1984, so would all of the T-800 victims come back to life if they stop Judgement Day. The timeline has already been fixed, Skynet existed because of the chip from the first terminator that sent from future. It isn't like Back to the Future when Biff goes back in time to give his younger self the sport magazine to make himself rich, as that action lead to an alternative timeline.

i gotta say, the best "follow-up" movie to watch is Terminator: Salvation. (takes place in the early stages of using endoskeleton robots) but T3 is next. T3 is Ok, but its the beginning of time travel stuff begin to become a pain in the ass. with the attempted soft reboots that come later.

It is pity that they didn't follow up with two more movies, instead of rebooting two times, that would tie up the series into an ouroboros franchise. Where the sixth movie ends, after defeating Skynet, with Resistance sending Kyle Reese back to 1984, and in the post-credit scene the Resistance sends the reprogrammed Terminator to 1995 to protect John. Literally, setting up the first movie.

I remember this coming on PPV in late 91, and it came on our TV, we never ordered that shit someone fucked up at the PPV place. We recorded it on VHS, and I had that tape for like 17-18 years, wore it out re-watching it, my second most watched film. Best action movie all time. Best thing is the mall scene, and the chase on the streets/sewer channel was like 1-3 miles from where my fam lived, we saw some of the filming. Also ppl complain about the john, but nearly every kid that age IS annoying, and obnoxious, I have no clue what ppl expected. Cameron started getting some pull in hollywood, he said he wanted the T-1000 in the first movie, but the tech wasn't there to make the liquid metal shit. He wanted to make T2 in like 87 or 88, but still the tech lagged. The studio allowed him to make The Abyss in '89 as a test bed to see of the CGI was good enough. If you ever watched that movie you understand what I mean (don't want to spoil it if you haven't), he saw it was good enough and this comes out 2 years later. First movie was made for 6.2 mill, this was the first or second movie to crack 100 mill for the budget, one of the biggest jumps in budget for a sequel.

Please, you should not insert a close-up every three seconds (when editing a video). It looks like a flicker of frames. It's impossible to watch. Then you show almost two seconds of the movie itself and interrupt it again with your reaction. This is an extremely choppy video editing.

@billallen1307
@billallen1307 Ай бұрын
@@toddjones1480 not eager at all. I do not like censorship in any form. But, yeah I do have a somewhat unusual perspective. My father was born in 1903. He was way ahead of his time. He saw people as people. Not black or white, but just people. Some smart, some nit so smart, some interesting, some boring. None as less than. If he had any personal heroes it would have been Abraham Lincoln. He was old enough to have heard stories from people who actually knew and talked with Lincoln. I still remember him telling me of a story he had heard of Lincoln walking somewhere in the south and they could hear the screams of a young black girl as she was whipped without mercy and Lincoln said if I ever get the chance to hit that (slavery) I am going to hit it hard. Because of things like that he was a lifelong republican. He has been gone now for over 30 years. He would not recognispze what the republican party has become. And he never would have disrespected a black person due to the color of their skin. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the more southern members of our extended family. My father banged heads on many issues as I grew up but his core values such as respect for others and human dignity flow through me. Good or bad, I grew up in a small town that was all white. Our county was well over 90% white. Probably close to 99% white. There was no black computer science majors when I went to college at WKU in the 1980s. at east none in my classes or that I saw in the lab. in my first job after college working for a local fortune 500 company there was no blacks in out I.T. dept. One was hired a year or so outer. We became friends. After he left I eventually lost track of him but recently learned he had passed away several years ago. I was saddened that my friend was no longer with us. He has Lupus and it was always a challenge to keep his medications right to keep it in check. We used to call him Mr. Fashion Conscious because he was the best dressed man in the department. So, no, I am not eager to use that word. I am also not eager to ever hear it used or see it written. But it should not be censored by a platform that is essentially a monopoly or any public platform for tat matter. I had a friend that loved Richard Prior and his comedy. Richard used that word himself frequently in his younger days but he came to understand that using it himself he was doing a disservice to all black people and he stopped using it. I truly believe this young man is doing a disservice to all black people by his use of the word. I believe all people are created equal and our constitution must apply to all people or it means nothing.
