This movie takes place in an odd timeline where Goku either managed to barely kill Frieza with his base form, or managed super saiyan but couldn't control it, the assumption is this is a timeline where Goku goes home instead of staying on Yardrat cause he doesn't have instant transmission nor full control of said super saiyan form, which could mean that Trunks is about to arrive possibly?

I watched this movie the moment the unfortunate news about Toriyama’s sudden passing came to light. He designed the villains very well, and the moments were cool. The American soundtrack is so goated, too. Not perfect (I wanted Cooler to duke it out more with Goku, but the run time was calling for his number), but definitely rewatchable. Love this movie regardless.

Yeah but as addressed in super, beings that have the ability of natural flight (birds,bats, dragons, etc) don't need to use ki to fly it's as normal as walking. But for humanoid beings that don't have things like wings they need to be able to atleast tap into their ki in order to fly
