As a Vancouverite (Wa not Ba) I would also add that thunderstorms are quite rare in this area. Particularly near the coast. Growing up we frequently went to Astoria and Long Beach because it was close enough for a day trip. Sadly Astoria is not what it once was. It's being overrun by hipsters and nouveau riche. A woman I work with just sold her house with a turret in Astoria for something unbelievable like $500k that she bought for about $150k. I have friends who have a beach house in Seaview Washington that's a 100 year old shack without a foundation and the bathroom is an afterthought. They could sell it tomorrow for $250k. Unbelievable.

Spielberg apparently took it from the filming set and brought it the one for Goonies for Robert Davi to wear.. 2) The boy who played Chunk, Jeff Cohen, eventually went to the same university I did, UC Berkeley. He became our student body president and would apparently do the Truffle Shuffle during our school football games. (Although my time there overlapped his by 3 years, ahead of me 1 year, I unfortunately never saw this since I didn't know he was also there and I never went to football games, only finding out about this many years later.) 3) Data, played by Jonathan Ke Quan, who was in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, said when they find Chester Copperpot that he went in, but he never came back out, and that this was in 1935, the same year Temple of Doom was set, which also released the year before Goonies did. And he "was an expert" who succumbed to the booby traps, while the Goonies are just a buncha kids.

I haven't even seen this movie but I'm gonna now just so I can come back to check out your reaction to it! 😊 Wish I had a heads up about it.

Watching the movie before the reaction is a good idea.

I just watched this movie, and quickly came to your reaction and I will say that I enjoyed the movie a lot, had I seen this as a little boy I know I would have loved it! And you're right, this was a very fun movie, I loved your reaction at 4:16 6:20 "I would choke him, don't tell anyone I said that" endearing 16:24 "I have a fear of old ships and sunken ships, so I don't like seeing that" Does this mean you're not a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean?

Yeah the film takes place in Astoria Oregon. I kinda wish I remembered that last time I was there because they also filmed it there

EVERYONE, I need your output. Think she's ready for "The Room"

I’m sure someone already said this in the comments, but the film’s creators didn’t let any of the kids see the pirate ship until filming. That reaction they get when seeing the ship for the first time after the water slide is real amazement.

FUN FACT: Josh Brolin (Bran) was also in Deadpool 2 and Deadpool made a One-Eyed Willy reference toward him during a fight scene.

He was also Thanos in the Avengers, which was referenced in Deadpool 2.

@@Ultimaterob True but she watched THE GOONIES in this video. NOT the Avengers which is why I did not reference that part.

The DVD commentary on this film is one of the best I've seen. It's video picture in picture commentary with the entire cast of kids (grown up) and obviously they still have some good camraderie, as it's evident in the commentary. The commentary track for this was obviously recorded at some point shortly after Sean Astin appeared in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as that's referenced at one point. Anyway it's good fun if you ever get the chance to see it.

The Goonies is one of my favorite movies of all time and it’s the first I remember seeing in theaters when I was a kid. Your reaction made me happy. I showed my kids this movie and we ended up watching it like 4 times that day. I’m not sure if you noticed but the main character Mikey was Sean Aston who was Samwise in Lord of the rings, the older brother was Thanos in the Avengers, mouth was Corey Feldman who was in a lot of 80’s movies and some more recent ones. Data, the Asian kid, was in Indiana Jones and the Temple of doom. Another movie you should watch is the never-ending story, if you haven’t yet.

One of the best movies ever made. Up there with Princess Bride. Another one that should NEVER be remade. Recommendation: Monster Squad. Similar to Goonies but meshed with old Hollywood monster movies.

This was my childhood. Kids used to actually go and do stuff like this, but usually with slightly less escaped criminals and treasure. We went in caves, woods etc. No phones or anything. Just gone all day until it got dark then we came home. I loved this film then and do now. I had such a crush on Andi it hurt. The NES game Goonies II is also amazing.
@toodlescae3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact. They actually built that entire ship for this movie. They hid it from the child actors so they could get a genuine reaction when it was revealed. Unfortunately, they had to edit a bunch of holy shits out of the reaction...lol.

In the novelization since mikey got the jewels from the ship and was the first person to "salvage" he is owed a finder's fee. Ten percent is usual. They bought the goondocks and the country club. Everyone lived happily ever after.

One of the best kids/family movies ever. Kids weren't soft in the 80's and 90's. You should also check out "Stand by Me." Another classic.
