Charlotte is such an epic friend, tipped Tiana like crazy, left her prince to help Tiana when she saw her covered in filth at the party, and wasn’t bitter or jealous when Naveen chose Tiana over her.
@agenttheater5
@agenttheater5 3 жыл бұрын
I've always guessed that if Tiana would have asked Charlotte or Big Daddy for a loan for the down payment on her restaurant they would have given it to her and not made any demands like 'the money has to be paid back by....' because they're good people at heart and because she's Charlotte's best friend, but Tiana wanted to have earned the money on her own and was otherwise too proud to take a loan (not that there's anything wrong with either of those) so she'd rather have accepted it for a cooking job then as a favour from a friend.
@memyselfandi7782

@@agenttheater5 as much as we could see that as a possibility. It's big daddy's money not Charlotte's. Not to mention, we don't know Big Daddy's business nor do we know his rates. We don't even know if he'll be able to give her money like that instantly. We have to think about the times. I guess to make the story simpler and avoid big talk about loan and paid rates they made it so she raised the money herself and then she only needed a little push to make it. Then before she could sign someone swept the rug from under her feet and she changed into a frog. The tip money was probably fine because it was a paid service. However if she had turned and asked him for money (another from many I assume) it would've been obvious desperation and she barely has anything to pay him back in the moment so interest would probably pile up, so it is a double edged sword, yk? But who am I?

Considering Charlotte only wears pink, it warms my heart to think she had that blue dress specifically for Tiana. Such a good character, and very refreshing that they didn't go the "jealous friend" route. They could have totally had Tiana and Charlotte fighting over Naveen but instead they just had Charlotte be such a pure and genuine friend.

I like how they showed the different class structure when it came to race in the US. Tiana didn't have the privilege's of having romantic dreams like her well off friend. Even her dad had to explain to her from an early age that she can wish on a star, but she needs to put in the hard work....versus Lottie who as an adult still relies on a star for her dreams since her dad can pay her way through life. Also, the only way they were friends was because the mom worked for the rich family, which is sad if you think about how that is the only way they would have become friends to begin with during this time

@@corymorrow5329 I believe she was coming from a cultured standpoint. These two wouldn't be friends in this period of history if they weren't there to be in servitude to that rich family. Class and race were not as freely mixed as they are now. There was no option to play well together. Even if Tiana's family had some money, she couldn't just walk up to Charlotte and make friends. These two grew up together as kids because of the paid service her mother did as a seamstress for the family. Before this time, though, there was the master/slave order. Some may have befriended and favortised some slaves, but the black family members would eventually be put in their place if the rich white family felt offended or insulted. It wasn't exactly 50/50.

11:13 the saddest part of this song is eventhough Naveen makes his own choices he was wary about the handshake. He only shook after Lawrence did because he's Naveen's guide. Even after the handshake, he looked at his hand in confusion of what he agreed to. Naveen does listen and somewhat pay attention before his big change, he just focused and the other things more.
@Kahtisemo
@Kahtisemo 2 жыл бұрын
I actually hadn't thought of that but it makes sense. Naveen is somewhat reckless but he's always got Lawrence there to give him advice and look out for him. He even tried to talk Naveen out of going into the place so if he thinks it's a good deal, then Naveen trusted him it was safe. That just breaks my heart a little since we, the audience, saw the betrayal coming after his demeanor changed during the song, but Naveen sure didn't. And what's worse is Lawrence was still worried about and looking out for him after the change which is why he took the lid off the jar, but by the end of things (and working with Facillier (sp) to realize how deep he's in) that sense of concern had disappeared.

I heard this theory about Charlotte. I completely agree with it too. So Tiana’s mom is a seamstress, right? I think Charlotte asked for more dresses so that she had a reason to hang out with Tiana (in the beginning). Let’s face it, a rich white girl and a poor black girl wouldn’t have very many opportunities to hang out and just be friends. And the same way Charlotte eats at Tiana’s restaurant so she could tip her insane amounts of money, I think she keeps paying Tiana’s mom for more dresses because Tiana is too proud and stubborn to accept money. So the theory I heard was that Charlotte has an entire collection of clothes for Tiana. Because Charlotte only ever wears pink, you can tell that the blue dress was never for her. I think she has a collection of beautiful dresses for Tiana for when her dreams come true.

This move is so important for many reasons 1. This was the final Full length 2D motion picture film from Disney 2. Disney has an African American princess who is determined, strong. and has set goals for herself. 3. She isn't the damsel in distress I know many people have comments about this movie being that Tiana is a frog the majority of the film but I think the beauty of that is she still has her mind set on her dreams. Yes, it's nice to wish on that star but it takes determination and hard work to get there. This movie spoke on a black girl from humble beginnings and a rich white girl who are best friends. This movie also shows that children are not born knowing hate or racism...it's taught. Everyone got their happy ending in some way shape or form. I really hope Tiana is praised on the same level as the other princesses.

This was Disney's attempt to get back to its traditional hand-drawn animation roots after they shut the studio down and dabbled in CG animation. Sadly, this film underperformed at the box office while their next CG film, Tangled, made tons of money. So sadly, aside from one more short Winnie the Pooh movie, they again closed down their studio for good. Which is very sad. I'm not against CG animation; it has its place and I like many films that use it. But nothing beats hand-drawn and I wish it would make a mainstream comeback. PS: While I understand and, to a point, agree with people who wish they had been *more* explicit in dealing with the racial issues especially of that time, people who complain they don't at all are simply incorrect. It is mostly subtext, but a number of points (especially "A little woman of your...*background*...") definitely acknowledge it.

One of the best parts about Ray is that he never judged or called out Tiana after she told him Evangeline wasn't real. Even when that happened, he understood why she was upset and still wanted to help her and never hesitated to help everyone when they needed it and even got his family to help, too. I really love that about Ray since he was non-judgmental, brave, funny, loyal, helpful and, in my opinion, is one of the best Disney side characters and his death is one of the saddest in Disney history. Rest in peace, Ray. You were definitely the MVP to the story. 💚💚💚

Princess and The Frog is definitely under the most underrated category list in terms of ranking Disney movies in hierarchical order. For me, Princess Tiana has an inspiring backstory since she originally grew up in like the outskirts of Louisiana with her loving family. She and her family aren’t rich by any means, unlike her friend Charlotte, but at least they share the same bond as fellow family members. Princess Tiana has always been committed into doing what she has to do in order to fully pursue her dream of opening up her own restaurant. Prince Naveen, however, we all know by now he is the complete opposite of Tiana. But it’s interesting how these two still managed to get along in their frog bodies and ultimately fall for one another towards the very end of the movie. More people should watch this, though. It needs to be guaranteed outstanding recognition from audiences of all ages, and I’m being serious for once.

I don’t really have much to share on this film outside of the few obvious things like this was Disney’s return to hand-drawn animation after 5 to 6 years of cgi, and the first african American disney princess. -This was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements who did: The great Mouse Detective (I highly recommend), The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, and Moana. -The songs and music were by Randy Newman, -Oprah Winfrey voiced Tiana’s mom, -John Goodman voiced Big Daddy, -This was the first Disney villain song since Home on the Range in 2004 and before that Hellfire in Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996, -A more obscure reference is to the front of the drum set near the end of the film which says “Firefly Five plus lou” which is a reference to the Disneyland Dixieland Jazz band made up of former firemen and disney animators called The Firehouse fire plus 2,
