If you can't pick between regular marines might I suggest speedpainting an Adeptus Custodes or a Gray Knight over metallic priming? I love their look (especially GK's blue-ish silver) and I think it would make for a very interesting video!

Loving the Speed Paint videos you've done. I've just got back into 40k after a 20yr absence, it's changed a lot, not just the game but the painting aspect also. Any chance you'd be able to paint a Marine up as a Crimson Fist? I think Cloudburst Blue looks the most likely speed paint to use? Thanks!

i'm quite the beginner, only done some 10 models over 5-6 months, and i find that the reactivation feature is really neat. when i eventually mess up, because i most certainly will, i can just get a wet brush and remove the speed paint without worrying about the rest of the paint job. i usually only use speed paints for faces, "annoying bits" and zombicide hero models that have too many tiny details making it impossible to paint traditionally, and being able to easily fix any error is really great. i also tend to use a light grey, Vallejo stonewall grey, mixed with some ice yellow (AK interactive) on the minis before i apply speed paint, i find that it gives a slightly darker yet warmer tone to the speed painted minis compared to flat white or slightly off white.
@WatchItPaintIt2 жыл бұрын
This is excellent to hear! Using the “issue” to your advantage! You’ve done well to learn a tool so quick! Well done! Totally agree about zombicide. Think you are using this all well, those miniatures are really testing to paint. If you’ve not painted anything by GW id recommend picking something up just for fun! Especially after painting Zombicide you’re going to have a really nice time :-D
@sweatilaa53252 жыл бұрын
@@WatchItPaintIt I actually started with one of those GW Primaris Marines sets where you get 3 minis, 1 horrible brush, 4 paints ,1 shade, and 1 texture paint. Good place to start I found, you get to see if you enjoy the hobby or not. Can recommend if you wanna introduce a friend (video review?). So now after a few more quick zombies I'll be getting some Space Marines I think, I like how chunky they are and easy to paint. Probably pre Primaris, they have a bit more character to them and some have beaky helmets included. Or do you guys have any good ideas maybe? Stormcast? Some other heroic scale brand?

Regarding reactivation, I heard that speedpaint on top of speedpaint is fine as long as you are a bit gentle with the brush. Other normal paintbrands like Vallejo is supposed to work if you first mix a bit of speedpaint into them before you apply them on top of a speedpaint. Actually makes sense but got no speedpaints to try it out with. If this holds true, my guess is that you could thin your paint primarily with speedpaint and probably move on to regular mediums instead of water when you don't want more speedpaint properties. The aquilla could be any color and some chapters just have preferences but you should be able to get glorious results if you girst apply a highlight color with regular acrylics and then a darker, speedpaint on top of it. Maybe use that reactivation to your advantage and do some wet drybrushing on the top before you varnish the results :) Contrast and speedpaint is so similar but also so very different, tools in a toolbox
@lucse39942 жыл бұрын
Awesome, well done! Just started using my own speedpaints thanks to your channel. Quick question though; I've tried priming with matt white and wasn't super convinced. I might go your route with the wraithbone but I was also wondering what you think about a black primer with white drybrush on top as the undercoat? Would love to see a couple of the same mini's with different priming methods all painted next to each other.
@HeadCannonPrime2 жыл бұрын
I know you love doing gold using silver and a layer of yellow speedpaint over. You have GOT TO TRY spray a model metallic GOLD and put Magic Blue or Highlord Blue over it. It makes a Metallic turquoise green like I have never seen before.

Hey, love the channel! Started painting only a month ago and only did about 10 miniatures. I was advise to go for speedpainting and I really love it. It's never really mentioned, but how long do you usually wait between two colors? I'm sure it depend on the color and how much paint you put but I want to have a raw idea. Thank you!
@WatchItPaintIt2 жыл бұрын
Like you said it varies. I just wait till it looks dry. Or I don’t wait at all if the two colours don’t touch! I’d say on average 10 minutes is probably fine. But if it’s super thick you can see the pools are still wet for like 30 minutes!

opinion 2: better to provide something that's too green than not green enough. blending that with a blue, yellow, or brown would probably get some rich effects
@WatchItPaintIt2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I blend it with grey in another video and get a green that’s less saturated and more to my taste! But sometimes this bright green is the right green like for these salamanders! I think my problem is because it’s called “ork skin” and not “bright ass green”. Think coming from a background of knowing orks from the LoTR movies, this is NOT the colour of ork skin in my head :D
