I just got this wonderful game. Your instructions are great. I have a question about excess paintings. Can you use the excess painting (put it on the wall) once its considered excess or must it stay off the board as a penalty?

Great teach as always, Rodney!🎉 I have TWO QUESTIONS: 1-Let's say my painting can fit somewhere on the wall but neither I want to place it nor give it to my assistant (even if the assistant is available). In this case, May I exchange it or place it next to my board as 'the excess painting? 2- Let's say I have no fitting space for my painting but I also don't want to place it or give it to my assistant. May I DIRECTLY put it aside as excess painting or my assistant must be occupied in order to do that? Thanks in advance!

I shot this long enough ago to not want to try to reply from memory (and I loaned my copy of the game to a friend, so I can't easily look this up for you), but here's what I am confident of: if the video doesn't say "and if you don't want to place your painting in situation X, then you can do Y", it means that isn't an option. The tutorials strive to comprehensively cover all the options you have as a player. If something isn't listed, that means it isn't an option.
