If there's one car I've always wanted it is a cheap eighties Porsche. I couldn't jump fast enough at the chance to pickup this 1987 Porsche 944 for $500. It needed a battery as every car does, but we fixed it with $7.16 in parts and a little elbow grease. Now we just have to solve the rattle with some other parts that came with the car and it will be tearing down the road again!

Common Questions:
What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make KZbin videos.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

As an owner of a 1990 944s2 cabriolet, I cannot begin to tell you how many “smiles with the miles” this underrated Porsche will bring you. I’m a retired Navy Officer and a retired Federal Wildlife Officer, both careers with their own unique “stressors”. But an hour in this car, top down, whether in the Smokies, down the Outer Banks, zipping the Tail of the Dragon, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, or through the Whites on the Kancamangus, brings life’s challenges back into perspective.....AND she still holds to the corners like she’s on a rail! Bravo-Zulu......on bringing another 944 back to the “land of the living”!

We bought a pretty good condition manual 1980 924 for $2k. No one wants to deal with the bosch cis system, but I know it now ^_^. Also, I don't think turbos are the way to go with old ass, cheap Porsches. Those are early days for turbo engineering and $4k sports cars aren't exactly known for being well maintained...

Because of this episode, you just became my favorite KZbin channel of all. I rescued and repaired two of these in my 20's, great cars. I got 70,000 miles of ridiculous fun out of them. Fun fact: the stick shift naturally aspirated versions I had could both top 160mph. I'd be curious to see what the automatic trans versions top speed is.

When I was stationed in West Germany back in the 80's I rented both the 944S turbo and the regular 944 and I got both to about 250kph about 160ish on the autobahn but the 928's are much faster at about 280kph. Also in Europe the cars there didn't have catalytic converters so they ran better then the American versions here in the States plus much faster highway speeds too, only after the EU was formed then the cars over there became bogged down with those dreaded cat's.

This is the best score you have found to date. The OG Blaupnkut head unit is almost worth what you paid for the whole car. The “phone dial” wheels are worth $200 each as they look to be in really good condition as well. The fact the lining under the hood isn’t completely trashed shows this car was well kept for some time before ending opus in a field. Please put the car back together and make yourself a very tidy profit once this is all over.

Bad head gasket but I redid the heads since it was 30 years old, runs great now and these are great drivers cars!! The transmission is in the back so "perfect" 50/50 weight distribution. The hatch button is cable controlled and can be very finicky. Get it open with the key, make sure the drains go to the ground, use penetrating lube to free up the latches. After you get it to work well with the key, then you can mess with fine tuning for the button in the cabin. Also make sure you spray some lube on the hood release components. I've seen them brake. Always have a fire extinguisher! There was a recall on the fuel hoses, but they are now old enough that they need replaced again. If you have a fuel line fail, it goes straight onto the headers and catches fire.

German cars use these rubber flex couplings that get dry rot over a period of time. I just replaced the flex couplings, a bearing and rubber mount. It wasn't cheap but the car drives very smooth now. It made a hell of a racket when it was broken.

wmmrock if you ask me, every truck should have 4wd. It’s pointless to buy a truck without it, unless it’s like a dump or delivery truck.especially in the northeast.

A properly tuned 944T can beat many Ferrari's on the track thanks to superior cornering (up to 1.25G in the turns, from suspension modifications), and the 2.5, 2.7 or 3.0 engines tuned to >400 wheel hp. i was in a 944 pushing 600hp. My 968 is running 530hp from a 388c.i. Chevy LS7 and 200mph gearbox. Thoughts @ 54k miles since the swap rennlist.com/forums/968-forum/593593-a-few-upgrades-for-the-968-a-59.html

i’m one of those weird guys that always liked the 944s i always thought they would be cool to do a American V8 swap to make them more reliable and cheaper to keep running i believe that Porsche used electric motors on the pop up headlights that made them pretty reliable for operating many people use those motors to retrofit on other makes of cars with pop up head lights and the ones from the Porsche 914 models i really thought the injector cleaner demo was really cool when i was young i was into water cooled VW s that used Bosch fuel injection i used to buy parts at Pick and pull junkyards off of older Volvos and aguars that used the same system and i too did all kinds of home remedies to try and clean them like you were doing with whatever i could find overall i think you got a pretty cool deal on the 944 especially that you got her running and many of the parts are functional best of luck getting it road worthy
