That bit of trivia about Night-Owl preventing the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne in the beginning montage, makes literally no sense as there are a dozen Batman posters behind him on the wall!

The faithfulness is on Snyder. He cited it as the reason for taking the project since if he said no then someone else would pick it up eventually. He used the comic pages as storyboards and got Gibbons to draw pages for things that had to be changed, such as the explosion at the end. That said, I would say that the squid change at the end says something about why Watchmen was said to be unadaptable. Watchmen is a commentary on comic books. The movie is about comic book movies and similar adaptations. The antagonist's elaborate scheme ending with "And then I did super 9-11" comments on comic book movies the same way the squid comments on comic books themselves.

The directors cut is criminally underrated as fuck. The cinematography, the casting, soundtrack, grittiness, action/fight scenes, costume designs, visuals, acting, etc etc is incredible

With Alan Moore properties I like the version I experience first better than the other. I read Watchmen before seeing it and loved the comic and hated the movie. I saw V For Vendetta before reading it and loved the movie and hated the comic.

That's fair, I saw Watchmen first and never loved it, read the comic all the way through finally and didn't love it to start but loved it by the end. Then watched the extended cut of the movie and hated it🤣 I like both versions of V For Vendetta, my only real issue with the book is the art while amazing it a bit hard to follow cause the characters are so similar looking.

The story was pretty incoherent, and it took forever to end, while becoming very X-menish. It seems like a serious attempt to make a comic book movie for adults, but it still sucked.
