My body horror flick: John Carpenter’s _The Thing_ from 1982, if only for the chest clamp sequence and revelation of the Thing in something resembling glory.

My first horror movie was Poltergeist. I was around 5 and my older cousin was watching it. I was too young to know English or be able to read subtitles yet so I just watched and asked why the man was tearing his face off. It didn't scare me. I was actually annoyed when my father came into the room and said we were going home because I wanted to finish the movie. My father had no idea I was watching a horror movie. I just wanna add that part. But yeah, that was when my love for horror was born. I'm 43 now and it's still my favorite genre.

The main problem with this list is that WM was only allowed to feature Paramount movies.

I've seen Monster Squad soooooooooo many times that I instantly recognized the thumbnail for this video, despite the shot being visible for a split second.

I have to ask, where do you come up with these stats? They’re all great movies, but the slasher movie should have been either the grandfather of them all, Psycho, or the one that started the tropes used today, Halloween. Sci-fi should have EASILY Alien, as hood as 10 Cloverfield Lane is, it doesn’t really delve into the sci-fi genre until the last 10 minutes of the movie. Creature feature was another what I thought was a no brained…Jaws. How can a movie that started the summer blockbuster era not be the go to for creature features?

1979's version of The Body Snatchers is scarier because there is no happy ending.

As much as this list has some good horror movie choices, it is narrowed down and forced to advertise Paramount made horror films which make this list pretty weak at the same time.

I have to disagree with you on the slasher movies. Sean S Cunningham has even come out and said that he came up with the idea of Friday the 13th to rip off the success of Halloween. Therefore, in my opinion, Halloween should be the slasher movie to watch.
