But when Superman beat up Thor near by, Thor's hammer landed near Wonder Woman and she grabbed it turning into Thor inspired Wonder Woman. With both powers of the greek gods and norse of Thunder, She knocked out Storm in a single blow. But she didn't keep Thor's power because she felt his honor within the hammer. After that event, Marvel and DC had another comic series where every character on both sides fused together...they called it the Amalgam Comics...They fused Wonder Woman and Storm together....it was pretty awesome...Wolverine and Batman was kinda scary...You know you are fucked with Batman has Wolverine's claws.

Amazonium was Pre-Crisis comicbook. Feminum was the TV material for the bracelets. But WW's silver bracelets were forged from the shards of the Aegis after the Titan/Olympian War at the command of Athena to be bequeathed to the most worthy of the Amazons. They are far more than tough--because they are all that remain of the cornerstone of Olympus' power they are completely indestructible and have protective powers. If a regular human puts them on and say leaps out of a plan, the bracelets would absorb the brunt of the impact leaving the wearer groggy but far from dead. They are pretty neat

Kudos to WatchMojo for a wonderful entry! Not only did it make me realize just how perfect the 2009 animated movie was in its portrayal of Wonder Woman, but the #1 fact deserves to be there! I would also add two more: 1. William Marston was one of the first few comic-book writers who were hired for his critical essay on comic-book superheroes, as one of the early signs of post-1st Wave feminism in the West, the context in which he wrote Wonder Woman was a challenge to the history of male-defined concepts of heroism. When his wife, Elizabeth Holloway, who herself was a notable intellectual in Harvard university and one of the few female psychologists in America at the time, heard about it, it was she who suggested "that's all fine but make her a woman." 2. Marston's desire to critique masculine heroism stemmed back to his scholarship in Greek mythology and literature. This meant that in the Wonder Woman comic-books what we have is a very rare and early deconstruction of Greek mythology, questioning the latent misogyny in myths of heroes such as Heracles and the Iliad. In other words, it's one of the rare unsung feminist revisions of existing literature. Let's not forget, feminism as a popular trend in literary criticism became commonplace much later in America.

I don't understand the appeal of her. Her costume is impractical in every possible way, and probably the worst in comics period. Her personality is bland and meat headed, her origin story makes no sense at all, and everything about her is cliche.

well. there are different inerpretations and versions. In most versions I've seen she's not really "meat headed", but definitely strong, and advocating gender equality instead of hating males. She has a touching affinity for children, and actively tutors them however she can in skills that they want to learn (for instance, teaching a little girl to swordfight). The "meat-headed" behavior you're thinking of is probably the result of experience with bad/lazy writers. Comics are written by several different people, and people have favorites and... not so favorites (read any batman comic written by Paul Dini and Poison Ivy will sound like she's made of cardboard), the problem with a lot of Diana's stuff is that most writers take the easy route of "oh she hates men and likes stabbing things", which is far from the deepest her character goes. As far as the costume goes (I like trying to justify superhero outfits), it (like most others of the time) was mainly designed to be big, with blocky colors, easy to differentiate on the cheap materials early comics were printed on (secret origin of superman's overundies). As far as justifying it goes, I'm pretty sure that New Femiscura's technology evolved down a different path than the rest of the world (demonstrated by their lasting flair for Greek and Roman architecture and lack of phone-zombies among the ranks). She jumps around and flies. A LOT. In New Femiscura they may not have access to many elastic clothing materials, so the easy answer was to lace her bracelets and boots with femium and have a small, tight-fitting costume with little or nothing hanging off so that she didn't accidentally snag on anything while she flew, also keeping it light so as to not weigh her down. Her amazonian reflexes are meant to take over and divert any incoming attacks to the armored parts (and usually do, blocking bullets with her bracelets), so that was all she really needed. It's still lazy, and she deserves a more sensible redesign like most of her fellow justice members have gotten, but she generally falls out of the spotlight with Hawk girl and Martian ManHunter, who are also tragically underused original league members. She simply hasn't gotten the same treatment because the number who pay attention to her are so relatively few nowadays. the only real way to change it is to support the writers, artists, and fans who DO give half a damn, because she's popular enough to not be going away any time soon, but may more easily be overhauled by a sufficiently caring public.

ShadowBro Also, her origin story harkens back to Greek myths (Aphrodite kinda had a flair for animating clay statues for the heartbroken), as do most of her stories. She's "cliche" because most of these stories have already been retold ad nauseum, but good writers know how to spice up an old folktale, and a few have given rather interesting stories. If you would look, much of superman's writing falls into similar tropes as wonder woman's, it's just tha people are less determined to notice it because he's male and more popular (he's freaking superman). I love WW as a character, but she's hardly ever done any justice, and that hurts to see.

I don't know much about Wonder Woman but the most interesting, amusing, and surprising thing I ever discovered about Wonder Woman was that she once worked at Taco Bell as a cook. Not only that but she actually enjoyed the job and considered it an honor. Leave it to watchmojo to tell you the $hit you either know or don't care about.

Wonder Girl actually appeared on Teen Titan cartoon in 1967 along with Kid flash, Aqualad and Speedy (Green Arrow's sidekick) during the Superman / Aquaman hour of adventure, it became Batman/ Superman hour in 1968 after ABC dropped Batman TV show(They had total of 3 Teen Titan cartoons). Aquaman continued as seperate cartoons until 1970. Wonder Woman TV movie with Cathy Lee Crosby in 1974, Wonder Woman TV movie with Lynda Carter in 1975 and series with her in 1976.

Reading the comments, there seems to be a lot of people who think Thor was created by Marvel. Thor is from Norse mythology. He was made up hundreds of years before Marvel used him as a super hero. Hercules has also showed up in Wonder Woman comics. You might as well say, "Wow, I didn't know DC and Disney did a crossover."
