When that picture came out I was a film booker. I got a radiator cap in the mail from Columbia. I called a couple other bookers I knew and they'd got a gas cap and a dipstick or something. Columbia should have used that much imagination promoting the flick to the general public. What a picture! I highly recommend you get the DVD with commentary track. Kurt, Bob Zemeckis, and Bob Evans, are well-lubed right from the start.
@danielfronc43046 жыл бұрын
Dr Joey Sounds like great advice, I'll definitely do it since I don't have the DVD in my rather extensive library. My favorite KR performances are, in order: 1) Big Trouble in Little China ("son of a bitch must pay", "If I'm not back in 10 minutes, call the President", 2) 3000 miles to Graceland 3) Tombstone, for which he was born. Runner up is The Thing as I grew up watching the original with James Arness. I enjoy all his performances but the comic and action ones I like best.

His role in Tombstone as Wyatt Earp was absolutely amazing! I'm not one for Westerns, but this IS my most favorite Western film, and Kurt is the main reason why! Such an incredible role! Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China was his most off-beat role, but once again, he delivered the goods like no one could! Another pinnacle role by the great himself! Many will always know him as "Plissken......call me Snake". Escape from New York is a classic, and Snake is one of those roles, much like John McClain in Die Hard, that could've only been done by one actor, and Kurt nailed it! Then there's MacReady, from The Thing. Now, this was a role that I personally didn't think he could pull off when I went to see it in the theaters back in 1982. When it was over, I was a complete Kurt Russell fan, and have been to this day! MacReady was an every-man character, not some swashbuckling hero type. He could get scared, he could get angry, but he also knew what he had to do, and he did it SOOOO well! Kurt Russell is one fantastic character actor, and really has not made a bad movie, or at the very least, HE was not bad in whatever movie he made!

Good film, but I forgot he was in it.

Ah the 80s. Where Hollywood created new films that had...IDEAS. Those were the days.

Elvis and Herb Brooks--two roles where Russell disappears into a humanized portrait of icons. That's how damn good of an actor he really is.

Just a note, Russell is in a documentary called " The Battered Bastards of Baseball.". Kurt played minor league baseball. His dad, Bing Russell, was an actor and a baseball coaching whisperer. After Bing retired he bought a minor league team. Kurt was a V.P. and a player. This docu is more like a movie about an underdog sports team that beats everyone. It premiered to a standing ovation at Sundance in 2014. Truly an exceptional story, with Kurt. Definitely watch if you have the opportunity.

It only proves that the Oscars are bogus. George C. Scott realized that.
@arthas6405 жыл бұрын
The Oscar's are a joke, they pick winners based on politics not based o performance and alot of times people get picked for shit performances because the judges figured they were owed a win, while good performances are ignored. Certain genres are largely ignored too, dramas and romances win often while westerns, horror, and comedies are ignored for example

I can't believe "Unlawful Entry" wasn't mentioned anywhere in this video. Great film. Some super intense scenes with him and Ray Liotta. One of the best thrillers from the 90's in my opinion.

I've been enjoying Kurt Russel films my whole life, and he is a super talented and highly under rated actor. I've also heard he's a hell of a guy and a classical libertarian (as opposed to a socialist). I agree with some of the other comments that Used Cars should have at least got a mention, if not a ranking. Dreamer was great, and I really liked Tequila Sunrise. His rendition of Elvis' Such a Night is sublime (like better than the original). I look forward to many more great performances.

Kurt can do almost anything he wants! You steals ever scene he is in.
@michaelberry13825 жыл бұрын
codyjones109 exactly. If he’s in a movie- there’s a 95% chance I like it. Plus he just seems to be so “human” when you see him in interviews or even how he impromptu interacts with paparazzi at an airport or anything. plus you gotta love how long he and Goldie have been together and how Kate Hudson calls him dad. The guy just seems to have lived a good honest clean life and doesn’t really let it go to his head.
