Luis Resto’s gloves should’ve been ranked way higher! That wasn’t just cheating; it was a criminal offense. That was like hitting someone with bricks; assault with a deadly weapon. I’ll agree with comments I’ve read elsewhere on here about the documentary. It’s very good. Resto was devastated by the actions he and Panama Lewis were found guilty of. Lewis was truly a bad man. He showed virtually no remorse for what he did, including using illegal substances in water to add agility for his boxers.

Hell yea man, at the gym, we had 6 oz gloves (6oz of freedom) when someone wanted to act uppity and being a piece of shit. Because that shit fucking hurt, we both had the 6ers one so it wasn't just one of us but that shit would make you think 3 times before taking a shot. If you don't hurt him you're getting hurt. Can't imagine being able to box a live match with little padding, fucking sledge hammer to the face.

Not all of them. Maradona certainly showed no guilt for example and in some quarters it made him even more popular. Actually one I've just thought of who isn't mentioned here is the Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson. Any athlete who illegally does something to deny an opponent prize for their efforts is by definition a cheat. Some, like Lance Armstrong got away with it. But it must be hard in athletics when herbal remedies like Ginseng tea, can give false positives (as Linford Christie found out).

Most of the cheating listed seemed to have been the decision of one or two players, but Bloodgate was a tactic orchestrated by the management and rocked the sport of rugby, leading to substitution laws being changed

The players couldn't be punished because they were granted immunity for giving statements so that MLB could determine the extent of the cheating. They couldn't strip the title because there was no evidence that the "cheating" changed the outcomes of any games (they had better batting averages and scoring on the road where they couldn't cheat). MLB also didn't want the widespread information they received about all of the other scandals going on getting out, so they stopped short of that.

The Australian cricket team scandal was just disgusting. Not only did it ruin the image of our country's extremely talented team, but the players (David Warner in particular,) didn't even look sorry. His crocodile tears at the press conference were laughable at best, and it really showed the "we're better than everyone because we're sports stars" mentality. Also while Bancroft was the one who cheated, it was pretty obvious that Warner (Vice-Captain,) and Smith (Captain,) were the ones who orchestrated it and convinced Bancroft to do it.

When I was a kid we went to at least one mlb game a year and batting practice was always my favorite part because I could easily get close to the players and try to talk to them. I could never get a player to even look at me except once. It was the Rangers vs Cubs. I was a massive cub fan. I was screaming at everyone and couldn’t get any attention. All of a sudden Sosa walked out. I was star struck but knew if I couldn’t get the B team players to look at me he was going to be impossible. So instead I just yelled Sup Sammy! And that was it. It didn't end just there though. Not only was there a warrant out for his arrest after not paying any taxes to the Italian authorities during his years at Napoli but in 1994 he scored a goal against Greece in the world cup despite having illegal drugs in his system. The goal against England may have had more of a direct impact in terms of turning a game in his favour but nobody wants to be on the losing end of a drugs cheat. After he died the England goalkeeper in that 1986 game, Peter Shilton, gave a very measured response to the press when asked for a comment, showing he was still angry about it despite it having occurred 34 years previously. Maradona was naturally a brilliant player but his conduct as a person left a lot to be desired. His hatred for the English team was still there in 2018 when he encouraged people to support the Colombians in their game against England. He was a very divisive person right to the end and destroyed himself because of his flaws. Napoli and Argentina supporters understandably hold him in high regard but the English, the Greeks, and the Italian taxman not so much.

You missed two good ones. The first is Albert Belle who used to play for the Cleveland Indians. He was a power hitter whose numbers went up drastically one year and after hitting a ball the umpires were suspicious and took his bat to be checked out and locked it in the umpire's dressing room. While the game was going on one of Albert's teammates climbed through the ceiling tiles and dropped into the umpire's dressing room and replaced Albert's bat with one of their own. This however was found out. The other one was the woman who won the Boston Marathon. I don't remember her name but it turns out that she took the subway to a stop not far from the finish line after starting the race with everyone else and then ran across to finish in first place. She was awarded as the winner until people started questioning how no one saw her past them for much of the course.

The French organizers hated Lance and were constantly trying to get dirt on him. Supposedly the big evidence was an old urine sample from his first winning tour found years after that showed a minute amount of a banned substance. I still wonder if he actually cheated or if his methods were frowned on and blown up by La Presse. The guy survived cancer. He trained hard. It was said his crime was using transfusions of packed red cells to increase his oxygen usage and therefor increase strength and stamina. The thing is professional cycling has always been a tainted sport when it comes to PEDs. Eddy Merkx, one of the greatest cyclists ever, said that in the moderndays of cycling if you wanted to win you took something. He said it was nearly impossibleto ride that far, that fast in that time period without some help. It is not about winning but winning big! Get fame and money. Be adored. As long as the rewards are big then cheating will always be there. As for Lance, at the time I was big into long distance cycling and he was my muse. In many ways I don’t care if he cheated. He was exciting to watch and he controlled the peloton.

@@martenmeij in baseball, pitchers use sticky substances to get a better grip on the ball, which in turn allows them to induce spin at a higher rate than without. Spin rate on a pitch is what determines itg's amount of movement either vertically or horizontally, also known as "break". The MLB forbids any sort of sticky substance except the rosin that is in the rosin bag on the mound. Some pitchers have found that putting on sunscreen and then mixing the rosin in with it makes it even more sticky. The rule was introduced a long time ago when pitchers would rub tobacco spit into the ball, changing the color from white to a dark brown, which made it nearly impossible for batters to see, and causing injuries and deaths from being struck by unseen balls. Pine T^ar is a sticky substance allowed in baseball, but only on bat handles to allow batters to grip the bat easier. Pitchers using pine tar is a big no-no though for the reasons mentioned above.

I recall a baseball game fairly recently (can't remember when exactly, nor between who) where two outfielders both went to catch a deep flyball near the rear wall, and they ended up colliding with each other so hard one was knocked unconscious and had to be carried off the field. The cheating occurred when the other got up, noticed his buddy lying unmoving next to the ball, and quickly stuffed the ball into his unconscious buddy's glove (all caught on camera) and tried to claim his buddy caught it before they collided. No one bought it, natch.

In South Africa, we have an annual race that I think is the world's oldest ultra-marathon (more than 42 kilometers).
