Thrillseeker8922 The story in Underworld was cool, but the puzzles were too obvious and there were like only three enemies every 15 minutes. And the shooting was very weird, I don't know why, It was just fine in Legend and Anniversary... Legend was short, but was still a blast it was full of collectibles, a lot to explore in the mansion, cool bike sequences. Plus it was the first game in which Lara looks like a human being. She speaks a lot more in Legend and her dialog makes her look a lot more charming and witty. They introduced the magnet grapple that was just too much fun.

+Walder Frey of the Twins. I disagree. I loved the puzzles and fighting. The fact there weren't many enemies is actually a good thing. Tomb Raider was never about fighting. Legend was just too easy with a very dumb AI.

Lots of good choices there. The problem is, the early games in the series had so many great levels that it's hard to narrow it down to just 10. Some of my favorites that weren't mentioned: The Cistern (TR1), Sanctuary of the Scion (TR1), Bartoli's Hideout (TR2), Tibetan Foothills (TR2), Catacombs of the Talion (TR2), Ice Palace (TR2), Temple of Xian (TR2), Temple Ruins (TR3), Lost City of Tinnos (TR3), the entire Karnak section of TR4, The Great Pyramid (TR4), and the Rome and Ireland sections of TR5. I'd also add Anniversary's version of St. Francis Folly and Coastal Thailand from Underworld.

+kastor markic It was a remake of the original, but it didn't use the same levels. Or to be precise, it updated the levels and made them better and somewhat unique. The T-rex fight was of course included, but it was very different from the original. So the levels are based on and inspired by the original, but they aren't just the old levels with better graphics. And no levels from Rise of the Tomb Raider? Some of those were very good and creative. But maybe it's too new to count, or something.

Pedro Granja I liked it too, but Crystal's mentality bogged it down for me. And theyhave the reboot now. They've dumped the old series, really. Have you heard of Core Design's "Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition"? It was a remake of TR1 under production by the original team behind TR, Core Design. It was cancelled near completion because publishers are dirty and Crystal wanted the cake. You can find alpha trailers of it and several assets online. Have a look at what _that_ could have been :)

+Branko Simic Better is weird word to describe the originals, and I absolutely love Tomb Raider 1, 2 and Last Revelation (I even have a soft spot for Angel of Darkness), but the Reboot features much better controls, fluid combat, better storytelling, better acting, great hub designs and better pacing (especially Rise). What the old games have is brilliant atmosphere (one that hasn't come close to being replicated) and complicated level design. But I think people have memories that are little too fond of the originals, the puzzles weren't exactly hard to solve. They consisted of find key that is miles away from door to progress, hardly a had scratcher. It was navigating the level that made no logical sense where the challenge was, and even though there was fun to be had - the formula got so stale! I'm glad they've approached puzzle solving differently in the new games, I just wish there was more of it.

Dexter The Cat I agree, story in old TR are not something, it is there just for the sake of story. As for graphic, TR Anniversary is proof that original game can be good with updated graphic. Gameplay is what i liked most. And in those days there was no internet and no walkthrues/let's plays/guieds so every level i had to explore to find keys/helth packs/ammo/secrets. And by explore i mean: go left - die, go right - die, jump around ares and look around with camera is there a platform that i can jump to. But it all comes down to opinions and taste. TR was just 3D platform game that got gameplay right for many, so it build name for itself. Last Tomb Raider i played is from 2013 and i am not instrested much in any third-person-shooter games, no matter how it is called.

Amanda told Lara that her mother was in Avalon in Legend and when she finally got there in Underworld they called it Yggdrasil after the Nordic world tree. It was more like an Atlantean device than anything else instead of Atlantis itself which was meant to hold the world together.

-The wreck of Maria Doria in TR2 was awesome. Especially the very first one that started you in the middle of the ocean and you had to find the ship before you drown. I also liked the rig levels before this. -I also really enjoyed the Tibet levels in TR2, driving the snowmobile was the shit. -The whole South Pacific part of TR3 was beautiful. I also liked Nevada and Antarctica very much.

The Lost Valley was probably the most defining moment in the entire series of Tomb Raider. It made me realize the grand scale and wonders of Tomb Raider. I definitely did not see that T-Rex coming at all.

Christian Smaldone because watch mojo does not make these lists. Their fans go on their sites and suggest the lists and the candidates in the lists. Tomb Raider Legend was seriously one of my favorite games. I remember it had really great level changes, and I loved the cast. Even though it was an easier game it still stole my heart :)

Yeah I agree the levels are way too easy, you could literally run through them. I remember with the old tomb raider games you can be stuck for ages at a time (if you dont cheat). In the 2013 even the tombs are optional. Some should be mandatory seeing how the game is called TOMB RAIDER.

Anna Schmitt The tombs are optional because the thing that the newer releases have is a solid story line. There's no real way to work in a tomb into those things. Although, you could stand to argue that in Rise of the Tomb Raider the entire city of Kitezh is a tomb, sealed under the ice and home to hundreds of dead people. In the first game, Lara isn't really looking for some relic, she's looking to survive and escape. In the second, she doesn't know if the artifact even exists, and does search a tomb looking for it (which is a really good level). The games are probably still called "Tomb Raider" because the tombs are there and are decently fun to solve and explore, and more so in the 2nd game the contents of the tombs are incredibly helpful to the story, and an optional-yet beneficial-side mission rewards you for exploring and solving the tombs.

Yay, I'm glad to see some appreciation for the classic TR series, but some of these are weird picks. The Cistern, Palace Midas, and St. Francis' Folly from TR1 also would be been good choices. I love "Home Sweet Home" as a finale for TR2, but it's not really a TR level per se. If there was any TR2 level that would have been a good pick, it would have been Temple of Xian, or perhaps The Deck. Hell, even Tomb of the Ancients from AOD could have been an honorable mention.
