He is not considered one of the best captains of today. Pat Cummins, Virat Kohli and Eoin Morgan have had far better, longer and more consistent successes as captains. Morgan was a limited overs specialist but is considered tactically equal to Dhoni. Rohit has had great success in the IPL and his captaincy record for India is good but he started with a settled team. Ganguly and Kohli carried teams in transition and briefly Dhoni did as well. Rohit is close to retiring now so it is unlikely we will ever get to see him lead a team in transition. He is an amazing IPL captain though, no doubt about that.

I think Yuvraj Singh is an absolute top 10 player in Indian cricket as Kapil Dev was the Greatest all rounder in team but the next best all rounder India ever produced was Yuvi Paaji and him fighting while battling cancer 🥹. As someone who's an ardent follower of cricket, well done WatchMojo. This is a perfect list. To those saying this is a list of batters only, let me remind you that India till date hasn't produced any bowler who would make the top 20 test bowlers of alltime. Only Jasprit Bumrah can reach that level in the future. In ODIs, only Mohammed Shami is a top 10 level. But he isn't as great in Tests and T20Is. Zak Khan was above average in tests and a good white ball bowler, but nothing that'll make him a top 10 great. Yuvraj Singh was an incredible ODI player and was fantastic in some patches of his t20 career. Once again, I don't think he can displace Sehwag or Dravid or Kumble. For Rohit Sharma, he's a top 10 ODI batter but he's below average in t20is and average in tests. Well done WatchMojo! Looking forward to more of these cricket vids!

He was genuinely a great batsman at home. Imo, a Top 10 WK bat in Tests as well. Regarding Ashwin, he just is a bigger match winner; and an all-rounder.

First of all, your definition of "greatest" is pretty vague in terms of cricket. Despite the fact that Winning trophies is the ultimate goal you need to remember the fact that a trophy belongs to the whole team and not any individual. Together, Team work can surpass the natural talent however the greatness is always measured in the terms of skills and achievements in the various conditions on the global level. Winning a trophy is the byproduct of good teamwork and some important luck, however natural talent is gifted by the god to only some players who actually earn that legendary status with or without any trophy. Mere statistical records you say? Well it's only our country where people would even go as far as to discredit the likes of Dravid or Kohli over someone with a team trophy, even Srilankans don't say "Arjun Ranatunga & Lasith Malinga >> Kumar Sangakkara" because the status of greatness in cricket is just more than having trophy, you won't call Damien Martyn > Sachin Tendulkar just because he has more ICC trophies than him. Statistical records + performance in quality situation assisted by consistency across the globe is what makes you consistent Thus, Dhoni maybe one of the greatest captains to ever exist (definitely the best in India), doesn't stands a chance alone when it comes to be ranked over individual skills without using filters like "among the wicketkeepers", etc. His batting technique was incompetent in a way that he always had a major strike rotation problem even in his earlier playing days when he was in prime vs spin. His fearless approach was commendable in white ball cricket however there were a lot of visible flaws technically. International cricket doesn't only include IPL where he had a fair share of dream run with the bat too. It will always be Sachin at the top and one among Dravid/Kohli at #2 or maybe Kohli a clear #2 at the end of his career, even Rohit might end up earning a spot in top 10 Indian cricketers of all time by the end of his career _Always ready for a respectful debate_

Virat made 18k runs at batting order 3, while Dhoni made more than 10K while batting at 7 number which totally justifies while he is tagged as the best finisher because he scores a lot in few ball and made India win... Other than is his avarage at 7 was more than 50 which indicates how many times he had finish games not out. Other than batting, his keeping is considered as unique and one of the best globally, and he has the record of most stumping dismissal... Which adds very important aspect in winning... And last his leadership which is still unmatched... And his decision which anchored the whole team's performance... I know Kohli has great contribution for Indian cricket but it's still behind MSD's...

Another Indian player who is underrated, mostly due to his own doing is Mohammad Azharuddin. He once held records for fastest 100 in ODI(This was in a pre Sachin, Jayasuriya, Afridi era) , Test century in First and last test (Only handful has done), Most Runs is ODI (I remember he was in non striker end, when Sachin surpassed his numbers), consequent centuries in first three test, Most catches in ODI and also leading India in 3 consequent ODI world cups.
