There's no way that Dory is on this list and Buzz and Mater aren't because all of their parts are the same. Buzz and Woody, McQueen and Mater, Marlin and ......Dory To make things short, Dory should not be classified as a "secondary character". She gets as much screen time as Marlin and they try to find Nemo TOGETHER.

I am sure that it has been mentioned several times, but Dory is NOT a secondary character. To say that Dory was a secondary character in FINDING NEMO would be the same as claiming Sgt Murtaugh was a secondary character in LETHAL WEAPON. Most of the early Pixar movies were "buddy films." Yes there were numerous interesting characters along the way, but the bulk of the saga focused on the development of two protagonists. Buzz and Woody. Lightning and Mater. Sully and Wazowski. Remy and Alfredo. FINDING NEMO is apart of that legacy. Marlin and Dory are like Abbot and Costello or Laurel and Hardy. You need both the straight man and the comedy relief in order for the project to work.
