Being Canadian, I do not have a direct memory of Queen Elizabeth II, but my mom told me what I feel is an interesting story. My grandfather worked for CP Rail and when the Queen came to visit the railway here in Thunder Bay Ontario, he was honored to place a wooden step for the Queen to disembark from the train. We still have this "royal" step to this day.

My only story about the queen may or may not be true. Back in the late 70s the queen visited our little city of Saskatoon Saskatchewan. l was like 7 or 8 at the time. Anyhoo, my parents apparently bought the Lincoln Town Car that was rented to drive her around the day she drove through our city. My dad used to say that l was sitting in the same spot where the queen farted l have no idea if that was actually the car she was in or not, but it was a very big, very luxurious car. Would've been nice to get some documentation on it.

Queen Elizabeth II became Queen in 1952 and remained in that position for almost 71 years. This woman has been a queen longer than I've been alive. I don't live in Britain, and I won't pretend to know what the people are feeling at a time like this. But still, everyone knows that she was absolutely inspiring. She will never be forgotten.

There were no pro IRA protests and very little out of hard line republicans. Where ever she went, the people smiled. At a stated dinner she spoke the Irish language, which was well recieved. Speaking as an Irishman i was trually surprised by the reaction and behaviour of the irish people and how, during the whole trip, the Queen carried herself well; with her head held high and a smile on her face.

I'm a Brit from London, and once saw the Queen go by in a car. I was ten and in my sports school clothes with my class mates and teacher. We were standing in the exit to a sports centre and she had just opened a local hospital, down the road from where we were. She was dressed in a pastel coloured outfit as she often did in the sixties and early seventies. It was the summer of 1971. Not many new post boxes are put in place in the UK, I know this because in the roads near where I live, there are both ER and GR post boxes. ER is also taken off other things like military uniforms and our government tax department becomes His Majesty's Customers and Excise. It's likely the money will change over a long time, with new coins being issued the next time they are usually issued. Before decimalisation we had coins all the way back to Queen Victoria, so I assume, if I live long enough, my purse is cash still exists, will have Queen Elizabeth the second, King Charles the third and King William the fifth coins in it. But banknotes will change much quicker, as soon as new designs have been created, all old notes will be withdrawn. Harry and Meghan's children will be Prince and Princess of Sussex, but not HRH because that is only for working royals, which the Sussexs are not. Actually the Houses Of Parliament, both houses, are on holiday this time of year, with the Commons members going to party conferences. The next official State Opening of Parliament will be carried out by King Charles and his Queen Consort Camilla, at the usual time in the autumn. All lawyers in courts are now KCs instead of QCs. The stamps with Queen Elizabeth the second's image on them, will only be in use until the Royal Mail changes the price on them and all new issues of commemorative stamps will also have to be changed, before they're printing, so any new set planned to be released will have to be scrapped and reprinted. We are already singing God Save The King. Coronations are usually carried out a year after the death of the previous monarch. All Royal Warrants have to be reapplied for when the giver dies, and that applies equally to monarchs, princes, princesses and dowagers like the late Queen Mother.

While I'm not a Brit, the image of young Elizabeth on the notes is a good one and it isn't necessary to replace her with a.... not so handsome... fellow. That's just one American's opinion though so take it lightly. I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have the current USA president stamped on every dollar bill in our country. The current notes and coins with the Queen's image on them will still be legal tender for quite some time. They don't get destroyed to make way for the new Monarch. I don't know when things changed, but it used to be law that US merchants were required to accept Canadian coins as if they were US coins because the difference in value was trivial, and it was a gesture of friendship. In the 80s many US vending machines were designed to accept Canadian coins. I always tried to pass my Canadian coins on because in fact they were usually worth 10-20% less than US coins of the same denomination, and as a kid from a poor family, a quarter was a lot of money in the early 70s. Silly really. I've still got a bunch. It's like I'm an American, but Elizabeth was on my money too.

Do you remember the _Seinfeld_ episode-from sometime in the 1990s-wherein he has to guess his girlfriend's name based on a single clue? My guess was "Regina." Up until the very end, I was sure I was right, because all other guesses until then turned out to be wrong: _Aretha, Bovary, Celeste, Gipple, Hest, Loleola, and Mulva._ If you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it by revealing her actual name.

I feel like they should keep Queen Elizabeth II in some currency, you know? Don’t erase her from such a common thing like money just because she’s gone.
@jcorbett96202 жыл бұрын
Her likeness will appear on all notes and coins currently in circulation until such time as they cease to be legal tender. This normally only happens if the denomination, size, colour, shape or (in the case of coinage) thickness changes. Coins minted in her grandfathers reign (1910-1936) were still legal tender in the UK until the 1990's when their sizes were changed (smaller and thinner), so unless it is decreed that all currency with her likeness on is no longer legal tender, she could remain on the UK currency for years to come. Only money created from now on, will start bearing Charles' likeness.

Charles is suffering horribly, I feel sorry for him it’s all to familiar with my dad and his mum a few years back. She was 96 my Dad was 72!!! You’d like to think the older you get the easier it’ll be… still your parents though. My Great Grandfather was a police officer assigned to look after Elizabeth parents when they came to Bath. They had their private room and they’d be able to hear my grandfather in the bar laughing at night. They’d send him a drink just upon hearing him. PS Watchmojo England hasn’t got a national anthem, Great Britain has, it’s also the Royal anthem.

Maybe your question is if King Charles III will still be recorded in history as a king, since there is no coronation?
@jcorbett96202 жыл бұрын
@@chadchey4049 He will, because he became King the moment the Queens heart ceased beating. Even the Duke of Windor (Edward the Eighth) was "King" even though he abdicated. He just wasn't officially crowned in a Coronation Ceremony. The Queen didn't have her Coronation until 1953, but had become the Queen in 1952, hence why her Platinum Jubilee (70 years) was 2022 and not 2023

Fun fact. Queen Elizabeth became Queen while on holiday in my country kenya 🇰🇪 when her father died. We were under her colonial rule. Goodbye 👋 our colonial master.

That must have been such a nightmare for her personally, and for British and Kenyan security officials who suddenly had an unexpected head-of-state visit on their hands. I imagine security and protocol for a visiting princess are very different from those of a visiting colonial monarch. But then I'm also guessing her first priority was to leave Kenya immediately and go home.
