I just think Watch Mojo has lost its mojo and gain capitalism instead: growing and letting professionals go, and recruiting less-paid personnel to do experts' jobs, like researching, content development, writers... my favorite one (and I think the only one I really remember,) was when Chumlee made a deal on a guitar someone brought in but turns out it wasn't worth the money he offered. So I think to save the value of the guitar, Chum went around to find a celebrity to autograph it but ended up getting a Prince impersonator to sign it😂

1:54 If it was genuine then the buyer didn't got screwed. The seller sure made huge profit but the buyer also clearly got a good deal. 13:26 Again, if it was genuine then he didn't got screwed just because the seller made a bigger profit. Also the buyer too was making decent profit.

@@Woozlewuzzleable Absolutely. Other items in this video where they bought fakes or things that would sell for less than what they paid were good examples but those 2 items shouldn't be included in that where the sellers just happened to be lucky to have bought them for few dollars.

And to think the seller getting more than they paid for it and the Pawn Stars crew finding out that it's really not worth what they expected is a recurring theme in this show. I mean I know it's all staged and or scripted, But it's still a perfect example of what pawnbrokers have to deal with irl.

Auction Houses take a commission fee of 10% or more and auctions are fickle. There is or was a show set in an auction house in Atlanta, GA that has seen some items sell for surprisingly less than appraised value and some sell for lots more. It depends on the Auction attendees. I personally used to attend local business auctions and because of who regularly goes some items are real bargains, others just have bidding wars that lead to overpaying.

On the comics, while I understand they are not valuable, I don't understand how the guy says "5 cents each if you are lucky." Where I live, about any random comic is a dollar just in reader condition. If you buy a stack of random rough ones, you MIGHT get 100 for $25., but that is still twenty five cents each. I would pay the nickel he is talking about just to read them, and/or resell at yard sales. Maybe use for decoupage or even wallpaper.

Just because someone paid $2 to buy something or $15 to buy something does not mean that the pawnbroker guy missed out. What it means is that someone happened to have made a big score somewhere else. This does not take away from the amount that he agreed to pay to buy the article from the person.. I myself recently bought something in a thrift shop for 4 dollars, which I turned around and received half the value of my automobile for when I sold it.

Rick brought in that bogus autograph appraiser guy who said, Looking at writing in the margins, "Newton didn't write that small." Therefore, He claimed, It was not newton's actual writing. He paid the guy a minimal amount of money for the book, And received a YUUUGE payout at the auction when he sold it. Also, Another day in the shop... This is the original cold carried by wyatt Earp at the o k corral. Here are the authenticating papers, eyewitness statements, and a letter from the colt factory, verifying that it was a special order pistol sent to Wyatt earp. Rick: "Best I can do is a hundred dollars." Nah, I don't feel sorry for these guys. They have the highest profit margin in retail.
