Honestly, I really do love the back story the writers are slipping in with derpy... Seeing her as a top junior flyer, even better then spitfire and dash... but as her eyes slowly go worse, so did her flying... but no mater what she kept trying.... then going for eye surgery but it not working... We have a pony who's had a hard life... made mistakes, has problems... but still... can be happy, can work around her disabilities, and others accept her for them.

And, she doesn't let her disabilities stop her from going out, being active socially (i.e. We've seen her at events such as a dive meet, an assertiveness seminar, a fashion show, a dance recital, the Grand Galloping Gala, and even a royal wedding and Twilight's coronation), and generally living her life to the fullest. Derpy's actually a really good role model for kids with special needs.

Derpy wasn't censored because of complaints. The original voice was because the actress doing her voice based it on a neighbour's kid, who happened to be a boy, then realised their mistake later. The episode was redubbed with a more feminine voice after she realised Derpy was a mare.

Her eyes were less crossed, and Rainbow calling her Derpy was removed. So no, it was absolutely censored, they just so happened to also redub the lines to fit since the voice actress made a mistake.

Derpy's really resourceful. If I was stuck in Fallout Equestria, she'd be more than welcome to be a crafting expert in my team. In fact... I'm planning a Fallout Build dedicated to her. Low perception due to cross-eye... Reasonable intellect. Slice of Life notes she knows the inexperienced work is cheaper than veterans in printing work... She can't be all that empty in the head. Blame's on the bad eye in my book.

Honestly I never saw Derpy as offensive to people with disabilities, I saw her more like a role model to them. I have a few disabilities but I saw how Derpy was with hers, like how she kept going and kept trying even if something didn't work out well for her. It made me keep trying with so much stuff even pick up old things I was interested in but had a hard time doing and to try it again. I love Derpy she is definitely my favorite same with Pinkie Pie but I can relate to Derpy more because she has disabilities.

Derpy has the same voice actor as Minty from G3, and they really made her sound a lot like Minty. They’re pretty similar when it comes to personality, I really think they chose the right actor for her. Minty has the same voice actor as Wysteria, Derpy sounds like a combination of the two of them. She also has the same voice as (G4) Rarity. Tabitha St Germain is so talented!

It feels weird seeing a 2017 video call her an animation error when I thought the truth was exposed years before then as something an animator did on purpose as a joke, as the animation border originally hid Derpy's face from view, but was later raised up exposing the intentional change. I never heard this called out as a fake explanation, so I don't get why it seems like everyone has forgotten this. Also the princess cosplay got shown as an honorable mention even though it was already shown earlier.
